Another rocket for an out. The Twins have hit a lot better than one earned run's worth today.

Looks like it will be Tonkin in the 9th.

You're so right, glunn, although I wish the Twins would come here more often...sucks that the Dodger games this year are only at Target Field.

The cages I like are down on Western and about 120th. Not my favorite neighborhood, but they are great cages.

The Dodgers TV/cable deal is the #1 scandal in MLB.

Lineouts: Dozier 1; Mauer 2; Plouffe 1; Suzuki 2; Florimon 2 = 8' date=' by my count.[/quote']

Kubes hit the ball on a line to the warning track in center, too. Nice play by Cain to get there.

Glad to see Tonkin getting a chance to show his stuff.

I dont understand why you dont let Nolasco finish what he started.

This team is so soft with its pitchers.

Why push it when we don't need to? I don't see the big deal in that and I like the idea of Tonkin getting his feet wet in a low pressure situation.

Push what?

The guy is a veteran pitcher and only had 106 easy pitches, he was never really in trouble.

Looks like i missed a good game, if not a close. (and i thought i'd be here for most of it)

A Mauer 3 run dinger and a Dozier dinger backed good Nolasco pitching, leastwise from the box score. Anything else of greater excitement? (I always like good fielding, and highlights are less prone to include it. And i guess i'll read the rest of the thread soon enough...)

1 complete game through 2 full turns of both leagues rotations, no need to push it reward Tonkin for getting up here on short notice.

Thats why you can't trust the box score alone.

Florimon carried the team with his defense today.

Personally i'd rather reward the guy who breezed through 8 innings.

I just think it sends a bad message when you tell your staff that no matter how well they do, you are taking the ball out of their hands when they hit 100 pitches.

Whatever, minor complaint, i've moved on. I'll live. Good win today.

On the other hand, Gardy might have used a guy for the ninth AND a guy for the eighth, and this is why he feels he needs to carry 13 relievers. I thought 8 IN was just right.

Good to hear.

Yup, it is always wise to know the limitations of your tools.

Brought up the Field view in game day, and yeah, that is an awful lot of outs to the left side of the infield.

Thanks for the additional info.

I guess I don't really consider 106 pitches through 8 breezing through, but whatever. He did his job.

It's April 12th and it's cool outside (cooler than the middle of summer). I'm fine with taking a starting pitcher out after 8 innings with 106 pitches. However, if it's the middle of July, perhaps you send him out in the 9th and let him close the game out himself if he's feeling up to it.
