Guest USAFChief Guests Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Nice job by Gibson so far. Way to many balls called, but now the strikes are taking the lead. Must be a tight zone today. My impression is the HP ump has had a very fair, consistent, and slightly tight zone today.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Wonder if the broadcast team has a stat regarding how long it will have taken Gardy to get wins 901-1000 relative to other guys who've done it. Interesting that he and Kelly represent 20% of the guys who've won 1000 with the same team.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 OK, any Cleveland hitter should deduct 20 points from their BA by season's end.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 How is that a hit??? He would have been out by three steps. Baseball statistics have become a sham.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Easy to tell we aren't watching FSN North. Karros just said that as a 1B we always assumed that pitchers weren't very athletic. Bert would not agree.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Nice swing Nyjer! Probably gets a hit.We know now that it would be in Chicago...
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 OK, any Cleveland hitter should deduct 20 points from their BA by season's end. I think that goes for all baseball hitters on every team. But that's apparently how MLB wants it according to Stew.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 How is that a hit??? He would have been out by three steps. Baseball statistics have become a sham. Major leaguers cannot be expected to throw the ball from 10 feet away from first all the way to first.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 My impression is the HP ump has had a very fair, consistent, and slightly tight zone today.Yeah, pretty consistent. I'd say more than slightly tight.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 91 pitches for Gibson. Who in the pen wants to take the ball?
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 My impression is the HP ump has had a very fair, consistent, and slightly tight zone today. That's what I was thinking. Gibson has thrown enough strikes but I would say he has been effectively wild. Too many pitches seem to get away from him. He hasn't had great command so I think he isn't getting the borderline calls.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Major leaguers cannot be expected to throw the ball from 10 feet away from first all the way to first. Official scoring and pitchers not allowed to throw over 100 pitches are my two major pet peeves about baseball (even moreso than expansion, interleague play, and wildcards... although one game play ins has got to be the most ridiculous concept ever).

Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 As Carrasco's 100th pitch hit Dozier. Look out for 101!
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Did anyone hear that? I think Dozier is corking his elbow.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 OOP's, there'll be no 101 today.

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 91 pitches for Gibson. Who in the pen wants to take the ball? Really want to see him have a clean sixth.
