The thing is... there's nothing wrong with his career averages.

He's an awesome super-utility guy (both real life and fantasy) and a perfectly serviceable starter.

Except for the Twins....I apologize in advance, but this one is going to be my cross to bear on behalf of the Twins this year. From the day of the Gardy re-signing, the FO said they were going to address the glaring needs of the club so baldly exposed in 2013. They did a very admirable job in shoring up the pitching, and getting a solid veteran and mentor behind the plate was the right move, even if/when Suzuki soon ceases his Buster Posey imitation at the plate. But checking out before Christmas (just like last year!) and not bringing in some better sticks and speed right after checking off the first two boxes on their offseason checklist is very disappointing, especially when they couldn't even go out of their way in picking up a waiver guy like Bonifacio, who wouldn't have cost you a precious draft pick, or a dangerous long-term contract for an aging veteran, or much else for that matter but an expendable minor leaguer. I assume their crack market research staff thought that signing familiar names from the past instead was a better business move, I respectfully disagree with that conclusion.

Chicago Hands

I figured that was Zuke's hands after (EDIT: 2/3rds of) an inning catching Deduno.

Swarzy better start stretching out ... Gardy will have to pull Hughes at 4.1 at this rate ... 101 pitches on April 3 would just be disastrous

Those look like my knees.

The knee bones connected to all of the Shin bones... All of the Shin bones are connected to all of the Ankle Bones.

De Aza three homeruns off our prized FA signings.

Does anyone know what the Sox were asking for De Aza? I wonder if this isn't a reaction from him after hearing what the Twins lowball offer was to the Sox to acquire him.

I'm slipping in my old age. I missed the punch line.

At what point would it have been worth it to trade for De Aza, just so we didn't have to face him?

Before opening day on Monday?

Upside of leading the league in batter k's is that they could also lead in reaching on wild pitches...

I don't have any knee bones anymore. It's all steel and nylon.

Picked off... but obstruction call. Escobar is getting lucky today.

They spent most of the winter finding advertisers to fill every nook and cranny they have on radio and tv broadcast. Profits first!

It's the new market ineffeciency.

"Don't throw it in the dirt with 2 strikes...we're likely to swing and now you're depending on your catcher to dig it out!"

Zuke as Buster?

Checking out before checking off?

Market research staff on crack, mebbe?

Escobar is on second despite having struck out AND gotten caught stealing.

I don't think I've ever seen that. I hope I don't see that again.

Posted
Is it possible that we have just witnessed Escobar reach second by being absolutely terrible multiple times.

He got out twice but somehow is on 2nd base.

Escobar must have a baseball angel on his shoulder or something. That's definitely two strokes of luck in the same inning.

They need some way to support the goofy Pohlad.

I found it charming in a benchable kind of way.

Assuming your surprise stems from the good outcome and not his being repeatedly terrible.

Giving away out kills teams. The Twins need to have the mustard to take advantage.
