    I heard that the St. Paul Saints backed out after they realized that there are far too many satirical promotional giveaway ideas tied to this ordeal that it would blow their giveaway budget.

    I'd be more concerned about him actually staying on the field and even sniffing the numbers in the OP. I'd figure out how to get him in the lineup if I was reasonably confident he'd play 130+ games and dabble with those numbers. However, I am not in this case. So...

    I thought the same thing initially. Why so much angst about an existing, and known, injury? I suppose that if you're talking 13 year contracts versus 3, that's a much different story. It's also possible that the condition of the injury got worse this past season and now is a bigger concern.

    I had the same thought about where the Twins stood on the condition of the injury. It's also possible that it worsened over the course of last season and now seems more suspect than it did last offseason.

    Walk away. Just walk away. If the big market teams are shying away from a long term deal, then this team most certainly should. The disclaimer there is if they can get the term down to a more manageable length where the ankle issue isn't likely to be as big of a question mark. And this team already has first hand knowledge of how it holds up over a season.

    Bold of you to assume that I've been wrong! ? First thing that comes to mind is Sano's ability to reign in the strikeouts. His eye at the plate was pretty good, but he'd miss so many balls in the zone that it just didn't make any sense not to come around.

    Agreed. There's definitely some "gotta spend money to make some money" aspects to this.

    This is true! But also a good point. The division is obviously ripe for the taking (just as it was last year) and this team went backwards, at least on paper. If there's a time to push all of your chips in, it would seemingly be now.

    That's an interesting thought though. It has been largely radio silence for the AL Central so far, so I guess this shouldn't be too surprising. I'd be interested to see this done again as spring training opens to see if anything has changed. Or even as the season begins. I wonder if things would cool down as we get further away from the winter meetings and all of the big name free agents are signed.

    There's definitely an argument to make regarding a healthy roster that's been decimated by injuries the last two seasons. But that's likely also the riskiest approach. At this point, there aren't a lot of options to fill needs that are still outstanding on this team, let alone depth moves. That puts the FO in a sort of no-man's land, which is at least partially their own doing. A healthy roster could be quite competitive for the division but little else. Another injury plagued season and it probably doesn't matter one way or another. At this point, I'm not really sure what the answer is.

    I've maintained for quite a while that given what Falvey was tasked with in rebuilding the organization from the ground up that he'll get plenty of time to do that. I still think that's true, but I do think it's time that those evaluations of the full process can start to be made. As such, I voted for him getting fired down the road, but wouldn't be surprised if it came in the next couple of years barring positive developments. I'm willing to wait to judge the off-season as a whole until ST starts, but the moves this far aren't promising.

    Not thrilled by the move. I don't really get it. If he were a RH bat, I'd be happier with the deal, yet still not thrilled. My concern is that the FO feels that this is the impact bat they need. He probably will be at times, and I imagine he'll hit around the middle of the order, but he's not the guy to fill that impact bat need.

    I guess that I need to update my post from @Nick Nelson's Coping with Correa Signing thread to include "It works for when they sign the completely wrong free agent". I'm with @Brock Beauchamp, this signing makes no sense.
