    I personally think they need both in order to be true contenders. By contenders, I'm not talking about the division. I'm not all that interested in just winning divisions.

    Grew up in Fergus Falls and lived in Fargo for six years and I would definitely agree with that. Aside from population size, not much of a difference to the lifestyle between the two. I would say that I had a larger adjustment to make when I moved to the Cities from Fargo.

    Perhaps the goal is to exploit the farmlands of Wisconsin to support the MN populous? Cheese, grains, milk, beef and beer. Plus, tourism would be easier to sell in WI than it is for ND. Or, maybe RB just doesn't want to live in MN so he shifts our focus to the east to avoid drawing attention to the oil? I've thought waaaaaaay to much about that...

    You build your bullpen with a couple of guys that have options so that you can send them down and bring up some fresh arms when that happens. Regardless of your thoughts on that, having two longmen in the pen is redundant. That's what Hughes or magill are.

    Agreed on Morrison. He's been much better of late. I'll add this though. Comparing the RBI totals for the two is odd. Mauer has been hitting 1 or 2 in the order with nobody in front of him producing. Morrison has been hitting behind the heart of the order that has largely been productive this past month. Easier to drive guys in when they're there to drive in, HR's or not. You're correct though, he hasn't been very good this past month. this team could really use a real lead-off hitter. Dozier and Mauer aren't real lead-off guys to start with, but they need to step up before this offense will really take off.

    the play-by-play indicates a hit and an error. I couldn't tell if he was going to be safe or not either, but it was definitely going to be close.

    It's a wasted spot if you go 2 weeks without using him. Plus, Magill can fill the long man role. One of them is a wasted spot. Plus, you don't need a mop up guy. You use the relievers that haven't gotten much work lately. Nobody needs a mop up guy. bring in another arm that you can use in close games.

    Yup, I am. Adrianza would become a DFA target at that point if Gordon truly is pushing to be brought up. Escobar becomes the utility guy again, filling Adrianza's role. Sano's return is easier to deal with in my view because you don't need to open a 40-man spot like you would with Santana and May. Perhaps that's where Petit gets DFA'd. The Twins already have too many pitchers on the 40 man. It would depend on the timing, but I don't think any of these moves force the hand of the FO to move on from Hughes. I'd hate to see Romero sent back down with how well he's pitching. It's a numbers game at that point and he's got options though. It's possible that they move on from Lynn, but I don't see that happening either.

    I'm not really convinced of that. Only two of those are pitchers and a lot can happen between now and then. Assuming no injuries occur before then, it's much easier to send Romero down to make room for Santana and jettison one of the struggling bullpen arms to make room for May. When Polanco is activated, Petit goes back down. When Castro comes back, Wilson gets DFA'd. If the timing is right, Petit gets DFA'd to make room on the 40 man for either Santana or May. There are a couple of DFA options for bullpen arms as well (Magill and maybe Moya?). I don't think their hand will be forced at all. At least no more than it is right now anyway.

    This tendency might be what drives nuts the most about the FO. There is no reason to be sacrificing a roster spot on a team that is supposed to be contending. I get that he's owed a bunch of money, but at some point you have to admit to a mistake (that they didn't make) and move on from it.

    I don't think that sending Buxton down will help. He's got to learn to hit MLB pitching. He has nothing left to accomplish in the minors. Calling up Gordon to play SS and living with the lumps is on the top of my list. If there's an injury to an outfielder, that's the time to call up Wade. Having him sit on the bench doesn't really help. A healthy Sano should provide a nice bump too.

    I would argue that the Twins bats did take the hint.

    This would be anti-climactic to me. It's akin to a shootout in hockey. You take a great, hard fought team sport game and turn it into an individual sport that's completely different from the rest of the game. I wouldn't have an issue with having a tie at all. That being said, I don't necessarily mind 18 inning games either.

    I'll preface this by stating that I didn't see the game, only the highlights, but it would seem that hanging breaking balls were the story in my view.

    I think the disconnect between our stances is that you're trying to use comps to generational stars. My point is that these comparisons are unfair and unreasonable in the first place. Some guys can do it, some can't. It's not an age thing, it's a comparison thing. I'm discouraged that he's not performing too. I have high hopes for him still. Experience is more important than age in the first place. I do expect more out of him than what he's showing. Same goes for Sano. I just don't expect them to be Mike Trout or Ken Griffey, Jr. Comparisons are meaningless, but fact of the matter is that hey both need to hit better. Plain and simple. I think we can both agree on that!
