  1. New team, new series!  Bring on the Rays!

  2. LaRussa called for an intentional walk of Trea Turner on a 1-2 count?!  Really?

  3. Glenn nailed it. He's no Nostradamus for it, but he nailed it.
  4. First fireworks night at Target Field tomorrow!

Fireworks night was excellent for beating traffic.

That's often my strategy as well.

  5. Perhaps he is, but he's kind of a sell low candidate right now too. I'd much rather deal him than Lewis, I can tell you that.
  6. Stanton in RF was hard to watch, yet thoroughly enjoyable. Nice game from Archer. I think he got away with a lot of stuff over the heart of the plate, but he had the Yankees off balance because he never paid for it. Another nice day for the bats too. The Jeffers and Buxton bombs seemed to energize the team too. Fun to watch.
  7. Great teams differentiate themselves from good teams because they're able to take advantage of opportunities afforded to them. I think that theme played out accordingly in this game.
  8. Pujols passed Paul Molitor to move into 9th place all-time in hits, with his 3,320th hit.  Congratulations!

  9. Wind blowing out at Wrigley Field West, eh? The Saints certainly filled up the box score. Nice to see Kirilloff hitting for power again. I imagine that his confidence is starting to rebound at this point. Good to see SWR with a nice outing too.
  10. Hell of a series win. Hopefully they keep on that roll against the Yankees!
  11. The offensive output this series makes the Detroit series even more frustrating, but that's a nice series win and I'll definitely be happy with that!

  12. Triple up Toronto's run output...as expected.

    Just baseball being baseball.

What ... the fresh raspberries and ice cream part?

      Yes, that part!

I specifically didn't order dessert with my pizza because I didn't want to be tempted!

Haha!  I just earned the Paparazzi badge on that.  Seems fitting somehow that it was for a dessert post!

  13. I get that Gordon is basically a bit player, but those guys are important too. He had a hell of game. I think he's pretty underappreciated for what he does.
  14. Not sure what to say about this one that hasn't been said about the last two.
  15. Exactly, there's a couple of ways to take that. One, it's amazing that they've actually extended their lead after that stretch. Yet, it's disappointing that they only gained one game over a very weak portion of the schedule.
  16. Some may find it interesting that the Twins had a 4 game lead in the division on May 4th. Today, they have a 5 game lead.
  17. 5 hits over two games ain't getting it done, guys. Don't know what more to say. It's only going to get more difficult after Detroit!
  18. As you mention, injuries and Covid have taken their toll on the roster. The pitching depth is still a big concern and it's being tested right now. A healthy Buxton probably makes a sizeable difference to the lineup, but Larnach is playing well. He's not the dynamic player that Buxton is though. I was hoping for a 20+ win month. Admittedly a tall task, but one that I think was very doable given the competition. They almost got there, but I can't help but feel that they could have had a couple more wins. Yet they still have a 5 game lead in the division. We'll just have to wait and see if they're able to hold onto that.
  19. It must be an interesting job at times to be a manager at the AAA level. The big league club gets decimated by injuries and your squad gets gutted in the process. Probably have to laugh about it in the end. Play 4 catchers and then have one leave the game and lose the DH in the process? Ha! Just your typical insane day at the office!
  20. Oh, definitely. In more than one way. For me though, it's how they lost. I'm always fine with just getting beat by a better team that day. It happens. It's quite another to beat yourself. Even on the radio, they seemed non-competitive. That's the problem for me. Which, admittedly, I didn't articulate well in that post.
  21. I was listening on the radio, but they didn't seem too competitive.
  22. I'm not usually too disappointed with splitting a double header, but this one sucks. They really can't afford to leave wins on the table. They need to beat up on teams like the Tigers.
