  1. He may be a top 3 player now, but what about down the road? That's where I'm looking. I think Lewis will be the better player overall. Which is why I chose him over Arraez. And half of the position player roster are corner types where none are demonstrably better than the other aside from Kirilloff. You can maybe make a case for Larnach too, but I'm not going to yet. You can't say that about Arraez. Arraez's best positions are manned by guys that aren't going to be unseated. Polanco is a better all around player, in my opinion, so he's not going anywhere. Urshela is a much better glove and will be the every day 3B. While Arraez is capable at 1B, that won't be his long term home.
  2. Won't disagree with any of that, that's just not who I'd prioritize to build around. To each their own. That's why this is a good talker.
  3. Not one that doesn't have a position in the field and isn't a great defender anyway. Sure, he can DH, but I don't really want to build a team around a DH.
  4. He's certainly less risky, I wasn't arguing anything differently. But he's had his fair share of injury shortened seasons as well. He's not without risk though.
  5. Correa has only played more than 110 games twice in his career. If you're worried about injury, he's not exactly the poster child of health either.
  6. I would. I think Lewis can be that level of a game changer. I like Arraez quite a bit, but I don't think you can build a team around him.
  7. Leave it to the bullpen to ruin a perfectly good spread. I guess it's true when they say they ruin everything.
  8. I'd go Buxton, Kirilloff, Ryan and Duran if we're needing to include a reliever. Without any sort of "requirements", I'd swap Lewis for Duran.
  9. This type of game is what I expected to see regularly this season. Not so much the losing part necessarily, but a slugfest. At least they took the series. Keep winning series, and they'll be hard to catch.
  10. He's one of those unsung role players that don't get noticed. And that's kind of a good thing, in a sense. He can fill in reasonably well at many positions and be good enough with the bat. He won't push a starter for playing time, but he's good enough to give one a day off. Those kinds of players are important to a good team over the course of a long season. And considering everything he went through coming up through the minors, I'm happy to see him perform. Even in the bit role that he has.
  11. Walk-offs are definitely, definitely more fun on the winning side.

  12. To New Orleans I go to do my part! And I'll enjoy some jazz while I'm there for good measure.

  14. The Twins are just toying with them like a cat does for a mouse. Got 'em right where they want them! Peter Gammons name dropping PJ was a nice touch! ?
  15. They went 17-10 in June. That's a run, especially when the twins went 13-14 in the same stretch. I agree that Chicago is a threat, but they've got quite a bit of work to do.
  16. Yeah. Molitor had a couple of guys like that too. It drove me nuts then too. Bullpen usage has evolved even in that short timeframe, but that only makes it worse.
  17. If this is the case, I hope it brings some consistency with it. It's great to see the younger players blossoming, but young players aren't typically known for being consistent. Simply being more consistent would likely help this team out quite a bit.
  18. I'm not really upset about it either. I won't say that I expected it, but when I heard what the available relief corps was, I kinda saw it coming.
  19. If a manager essentially refuses to use a reliever unless forced to, then that reliever shouldn't be on the roster. Today's bullpen usage doesn't allow for that. And it's pretty clear why Thornburg was a last resort.
  20. Correct. Every team blows leads. In the end, I still don't think Cleveland's run will be sustained, but they can certainly do some damage while they're on it.
