  1. Agreed. I'm hoping that is a tell by having him play 3B.
  2. I'm an eternal optimist. I can't help myself.
  3. Indeed. At least the players are getting their exercise.
  4. Tickets? I've got my WS pennant on order already!
  5. "Hi, my name is IndianaTwin and I'm a Lewis fan..." Crowd: "Hi Indiana." Sorry, that was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your post! And you deserved a better mental image on my part than that! Thanks for the story!
  6. I thought it was at first glance. It would have been pretty fun to see Dobnak and France duel. The headshots side by side would have been worth it alone!
  7. Great to see Lewis back! I hope that he can help spark the offense and hold down 3B. And also, welcome back Kepler.
  8. Nah, he's got people that wait in line for him!
  9. Managing by game thread! What could possibly go wrong?
  10. I'd rather see Kirilloff at 1B regardless. Agreed on Correa and Gallo. If these guys are going to be sitting so long, I wish they'd just IL them instead of handcuffing themselves with a shorter bench.
  11. I don't think Wallner would make anyone fear the bottom of the lineup any more than Garlick does.
  12. With the number of corner types on the 40 man, I don't see how any of the guys listed really fit. Some assumptions needed to be made by the FO, of course. But they're also in a better position to know things like where Kirilloff's wrist is. In these days of 13 man pitching staffs and short benches, I'll take versatility over what the guys listed represent. Solano isn't exactly a defensive specialist, but he does have versatility in the field and that's more important in a bench player, in my opinion. He's a better fit for the roster than any of the guys listed in the article.
  13. An extension doesn't surprise me at all. I'm among those that think he's doing exactly what the FO wants him to do and they're all in lockstep with each other. So, it stands to reason that he'd be safe. I'm not really sure what to make of it though. I'm kind of indifferent about it. I don't think Rocco is a poor manager. I don't think he's a good manager. He's in the middle of the pack, like most managers. I think they could do worse fairly easily, but it would be tough to do better since those guys are relatively rare and harder to come by. My managerial philosophy is summed up succinctly by Jim Leyland, who is quoted as saying something like "As managers, we give the players the answers to the test. It's still up to them to take the test."
  14. Hopefully that fire lasts a little longer than this gif, or else they'll need another before the season starts!
  15. Sheepishly puts down Screwdriver... ...and the Scotch... ...begrudgingly gets ready for work...
  16. It's not really that odd, actually. The schedules are structured differently. In the regular season, tomorrow is guaranteed for the vast majority of the season. In the playoffs, it's not. And in the playoffs, you don't need to save your workhorses for the long haul of the regular season and then also, hopefully, the playoffs. That's also why you see starting pitchers working on short rest rather frequently in the playoffs but rarely see it in the regular season. The regular season is a marathon. The playoffs are very much a sprint.
