  1. They don't need a SS that badly anyway...

  2. That is quite the collection! The winner better have a buddy with to help carry it!
  3. My prediction as to what has happened by October of 2036? The Twins have ended their playoff losing streak!!! ...and started another one or two...
  4. Better late than never, I always say sometimes.
  5. Beer... that's usually served "up", correct? Rocks are frowned upon?
  6. I was going to say, pick him up and this team might get some pretty sweet gear in the process!
  7. See, you have competition from not just one but TWO glorious franchises desiring my clients services! Pay me us my guy more and he'll surely sign with you!
  8. Yes. emmm, yes. ermmmm, yeah.
  9. Thought provoking, indeed! You bring up some interesting points. To answer your closing questions, I think a compromise will work until the issue can be resolved. Just tell Max that you might be wrong about him and that you might owe him an apology! I'm sure he'll understand!
  10. No Pass/Fail option? Solid B for me. Pretty much the highest grade I could reasonably expect.
  11. The halo on Paul is a nice touch!
  12. I agree with that. And I also agree that sometimes we forget that.
  13. Agreed, but some basic fundamentals shouldn't need to be taught in the minors though either. They're fundamentals. You learn that stuff in little league. That said, there were times were you have guys that haven't played the outfield before manning the outfield. There are positional fundamentals too and if you've never played that position before (or not very often anyway), it's unreasonable to expect them to be well versed in them. I don't think the game is taught the same way anymore anyway, so all of this is somewhat moot.
  14. I tend to agree on the fundamentals part. It's pretty discouraging. I would like to point out there have been a few players that have been brought up over the last couple of seasons that were called up earlier than they should have been out of necessity due to injuries. They clearly weren't ready, but it is frustrating that the fundamentals were still lacking. They're called fundamentals for a reason.
  15. I'm intrigued, but I think some other dominos need to fall, and fall the wrong way, before I'd get real serious about going after him.
  16. Solid first post! Welcome to TD!
  17. At some point, this team is going to have to start clearing out the glut of corner position types. It makes sense to move members of the old core that are blocking younger players. If Kepler can bring back useful pitching in return, dealing him makes a ton of sense.
  18. To be clear, one of these scenarios has already happened in the future! That's exciting!
  19. That's what I got out of what you were saying. I wanted to reinforce your point with my own two cents. We don't know what's said during negotiations, so to pretend that it's just about the money is missing the larger point. Some players simply don't want to go somewhere, so the money is irrelevant.
  20. Each player is different and each player will have different reasons and priorities for signing where ever they decide to sign. To say "how much money" would be an oversimplification in many situations. Obviously it would be true for some players, but certainly not all of them. And even then, that figure probably varies from player to player. So, I don't think there's a magic formula to this one.
  21. I found those signings humorous too though. I'm sure they'd cheer Correa on if he was wearing their jersey. It all depends on whose ox is being gored.
  22. I always thought that the Dodgers pursuing Correa was comical for the exact reason they're supposedly out.
  23. Retooling? That's what I feel they did last offseason. Correa signing notwithstanding. Them not signing anyone at this point doesn't mean a whole lot considering who has come off the board. Their prime target is still out there. With reports that Arraez is being dangled, it would appear that they're more likely to trade for pitching than sign FAs. Hard to glean much at this point in the offseason. I'm not one that ever expects them to be heavy spenders during the winter meetings, so their perceived inactivity is just par for the course. Ask me again when pitchers and catchers are about to report.
