  1. Mom and I just had a dog and took in the sights and sounds of baseball, bought some tickets to a future game, then went to Sun Harvest to cash in on our 2 for 1 ice cream, but the line was too long so we’ll try another day.
  2. Sorry you won’t be able to make your trip! If you want greater exposure for trying to sell your tickets, feel free to also post this in the Twins Talk forum.
  3. This is awesome! Welcome!
  4. I live in near south Chicago ... an easy bike ride or two stops on the L away from the Sox park. I’ve never had any issue with fans at the game. Most know their team and the sport so conversation is usually pretty easy; and there are usually plenty of Twins fans at the games, too, so I don’t feel completely outnumbered. Of course, even though I live in Chicago, I’m a visitor when I go to games and behave accordingly. But being in the Midwest and in a city with a rival division team, I still see plenty of games. But I do miss the local coverage and having a local spot to watch games. TD is great at bridging that gap, and game threads have become my local sports bar. Kenny Williams lived in my building for a couple years and had a parking space next to mine. I do wonder if he ever noticed the Twins bumper sticker on my car.
  5. You need to get your name updated to WATwinsFan!
  6. Exactly. I still am holding out hope that one player will step up and offer to donate the bonuses earned, which will have a domino affect, but I’m not holding my breath. And as we see more opposing players speak out about this, the more likely it will be that these matters will be handled in a ‘retribution style.’ Although, I’m sure the umps will be on high alert, so not sure what will happen.
  7. I’d really like to see this happen ... the giving back. If the commissioner won’t commute the championship, then take away the gains received as a result, including their rings. It won’t undo anything for players on the resulting end of the cheating, but I think this would be a fair punishment. And I’d really like to see at least one player offer to give back what wasn’t earned before being asked to.
  8. I think there is a difference between condoning a pitcher intentionally hitting a batter, which I do not, and wondering if it will or expecting it to happen, because of the circumstances, despite not condoning it. Players are pissed, rightfully so, but I hope the retribution isn’t this because of the potential for very serious injury, but I do have a feeling it will happen unless more serious fines and/or punishment is levied. I’m not sure how you can walk back the immunity already given, but the Astros players are being pretty slow to acknowledge wrong-doing and to admitting to what degree, imo. That said, there are some posters here who enjoy the aspect of players taking matters into their own hands and using an intentional plunking to right a wrong, real or ‘unwritteningly’ perceived.
  9. You should seriously send this suggestion to every team’s marketing departments.
  10. Well, when you answer ‘A’ for all the questions to hedge your bets, that’s what happens!
  11. I’m not sure about the $108, but I saw tix $9 to $31
  12. So everyone is up on the full conversation of this proposal, there is a 2nd thread here on this subject: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36344-proposed-playoff-expansion-with-a-reality-tv-twist/
  13. Trout fans? I’d say quite a lot of baseball fans follow him, and I say that based solely on the comments here from people. White Sox? I do, occasionally. I live in Chicago, and we play them a lot. I want to know local sports and I want to know who the Twins are up against. Now, I don’t necessarily follow them the way I do Twins players, but I do follow them enough to have some idea what we will be up against now and in the near future. And I think Bauer has it right about marketing and abut all the pay for content. Heck, you can’t watch the Cubs this year, locally, unless you subscribe to their channel. At the very least MLB should say no to that. Talk abut bad for baseball, but good for baseball owners.
  14. Did I miss something reported? Is there an actual ‘bad blood’ situation between those two, or is it your supposition that there must be because of how you feel about it? I haven’t seen any reports of anything of the sort, at lest not yet. And I would understand if there were some hard feelings, but for the sake of the team moving forward, they will need to find a way to deal with it and move on if it becomes an obstacle. The team is not going to just drop Gonzalez, nor do I think they should, but then there are a few threads in the Twins Talk forum already discussing this.
  15. There’s this thread: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36050-spring-trainingft-myers-question/ And this one, too: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36363-your-best-guide-to-minnesota-twins-spring-training/?do=findComment&comment=956317 If you have more specific questions just ask.
  16. ST has been a ‘must do’ in my calendar for a long time, and I tell any baseball fan, it’s a ‘must do’ experience at least once in a lifetime, more if you can manage it. My first ST was in 1991. After a handful, I missed going ‘98-00. Since 2001, I haven’t missed. I have never been for longer than a week or two ... I still have a full time job ... but it’s always a highlight for this baseball fan.
  17. Seth asked, ‘What more could he do?’ And this is a good answer. Some gesture like this could go a long way. I don’t know him so will take him at face value and believe he is truly sorry.
  18. Lol ... I was going to say that, too ... at least it wasn’t linear algebra!
  19. Wow. Unbelievable ...
  20. The ‘Dad jokes’ thread is in the Sports Bar forum ...
  21. Now that you’ve gone and admitted that publicly, we expect a few inside tidbits now and again! And welcome to TD!
  22. Yes, the leaked medicals and how it was characterized is on them. Of course, the press is going to have their say, but to the extent the press went at it was Boston up and down. And then they walked it back a bit with a statement saying ‘They didn’t think he could be a starter based on his medicals’ but that was still too much to say publicly as it just fueled it all even more. They could have left much of that quiet, and didn’t. Graterol didn’t need to be called ‘damaged goods’ ... while that characteristic was media generated, it got its start from how Boston handled the halt of the trade. They could have and should have handled it differently, imo. But then still wanting him along with another top 10 from our system? Seriously? That was laughable. You can defend them all you want and we will remain in disagreement. I don’t think it was cold feet, just poorly managed. I couldn’t say exactly by whom, because I don’t know what exactly was happening internally.
  23. Can’t answer the cold feet thing, because that wasn’t my claim. But I do think it was all handled poorly, even upon conclusion of both deals.
  24. The first time I heard that name, I was ‘Who the heck is Jordy Blaze?’ That thought likely came at 11:16am and not the brilliant hour of 11:16pm
