  1. So, SD has tested a total of 194 people? And ND has tested a total of 93? Until we set up drive-through testing and test EVERYONE, we will never know any actual numbers. We need to adapt South Korea's way.
  2. I'm still heading to Florida tomorrow. After much discussion with family and reading all I can, consulting my doctor, I'm going. My Mom wants me to. She understands my concerns for her and that I could carry something to her, but she still wants me to visit. She's 90, in great health, strong immune system, no pre-existing issues that compromise her lungs or immune system, she's always been a fanatical hand washer and sanitizer ... while I know some would say 'Don't go', she understands all of this and still wants me to visit. She's not in a nursing home or any kind of facility, she lives independently and not in a senior or 55+ community. Still, I worry I could carry something to her or to her friends. I've made it clear, I'm not interacting with her friends. And she is not going to the two theater shows she has tickets for. Still, I waiver, but i'm going. I will wipe down my seat area on the plane (something I've been doing for years anyway, and no longer get colds after I travel), I will be wearing latex gloves, I may cover my face with a scarf, although that likely won't do anything, except keep my germs to myself when allergy symptoms arise, and when I arrive, the first thing I will do is take a shower and throw all I was wearing in the wash. <shrug>
  3. Yep ... try this ... probably should have mentioned that you might have to do that.
  4. When I looked at this post of mine more ‘analytically’, I realized that these three, in that order, are my favorite players on the team. I think there is a strong correlation there.
  5. Oh Good Lord. You really need to consult with the right constituency before writing articles like this. Every single person is in the wrong place, except maybe Romo. I’d have to think a lot about it, but this is the start of the true ranking of handsomeness. 1. Rosario 2. Cruz 3. Romo
  6. We were told today ... we’re out for 30 days. I work for an arts organization, so no performances for 30 days. Thankfully, we’re still getting paid. There is an ‘out clause’ in our contracts in case of such events (the wording specifically mentions epidemics), but the board chose not to do that. I would have been okay for 30 days ... it’s much easier to save and stretch one’s salary when you are a household of one ... but many of my colleagues would have had difficulties. The freelancers ar going to be seriously hurting. I had a scheduled week off next week and still deciding whether or not to follow through with those plans ... no, thankfully, it’s not a cruise.
  7. Yeah, they’re paying us. I will still go in ... lots of stuff to get done tomorrow prepping for when we are back. Now I need to decide if I’m going to Florida on Monday or not.
  8. UPDATE: Things seem to be in working order, for the most part. If you are in the forums and want to jump to the Front Page, click on the logo to the far left instead of the 'Front Page' link just next to that. PM's are up and running and you can post using the mobile version. But still let us know here if you experience anything else amiss. Thanks!
  9. Okay ... out of work for 30 days ... technically, according to our contract, they don't have to pay us, but no announcement yet that they won't ... or at least might give us something.
  10. I feel our public officials should be more forthcoming about everything, and aren't. And yes, telling us to take precautions, etc ... but haven't they done that already? But taking care of us? No, they aren't doing that ... loss of income, medical coverage for everyone, testing, etc. My contract has wording in it to the effect that if my work is suspended, they don't have to pay me. To slow the rate of infection, at this stage, will take more than precautions, and our medical system is not set up to handle it and we haven't been told how we will be covered, if we will be, financially. Maybe it's a 'sorry ... you're on your own.' And maybe this will be a lot of nothing. And I'm not going to worry about until it's a 'thing' and I will be fine ... but a lot of people, if this is a 'thing', they won't be fortunate.
  11. Confidentiality should be kept. Absolutely agree ... unless there is a known danger, but then it should be kept within a certain circle, imo, i.e. within the team itself and not in public as to who. But how do you think they should this be handled in terms of suspending the seasons or not?
  12. Yeah ... that's why I wondered how/if players are being tested ... but then, will their families and friends be as well? The season opener is likely to be postponed, and the season shortened ... just not sure how/when this will happen. If they can't come into contact with one another, then they can't practice, either ... sooooooo ... I think we are looking at May or June for baseball to start.
  13. I'm wondering if they aren't all being monitored closely ... and being tested ... if someone comes up positive ... then I'm wondering if they will suspend the start of the season.
  14. Yeah ... I'm selfishly wanting the games to be played and televised. I'm out of market anyway so am able to watch the games with my mlb plan. So ... play the game even if fans aren't allowed in the stadiums. I wonder if players are being tested ... and if one player comes up positive ... then what?
  15. I think playing the games without fans would be the way to go, but if they do here what Italy has done? Eh ... I'm reconsidering my trip to Florida next week.
  16. I thought I read that in Japan they had discovered some getting reinfected? I'd have to do more googling ... but yes ... this serves as a reminder to be careful what information you are giving is legit. Edit: This wasn't what I read originally, but here is one article. They don't know for sure if it was faulty testing or if some were reinfected or they just don't know. They don't think it likely, but still too early to tell? But this is a dated article. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/29/health/coronavirus-reinfection.html
  17. The site censors some words for you ... for ****'s sake ... ****'s real ... ******* ... you get the gist. No one really needs to censor themselves, because the site will take care of it for you. That said ... don't over use this feature. Unless it's a game thread and things have gone south.
  18. But the infection rate is a lot higher ... more people will be infected. While the mortality rate may stay at a lower 1-2%, the total number of deaths may be higher. We just don't know yet. So yes, don't panic, but do be cautious. There also is a vaccine for the flu ... okay, it doesn't cover all strains, but it will lessen the severity if you do get it. I see no panic here in this thread on TD ... only people taking it seriously. I'm sure we have many posters here on TD who fall into one of the more vulnerable categories. Now ... if we hear people here are out buying 200 rolls of TP? That's panic. But doing due diligence to stop its spread is warranted. That is not panic. Be careful labeling people as panicky when they choose to follow protocols issued by the CDC, NIH, WHO ... When was the last time you saw an entire country being locked down? And until everyone has been tested and this has run its course, we don't know actual numbers of anything. While I'm not worried about myself, as I'm not in any high risk group, I am being very careful because of all the people I come in contact with throughout my day, especially my elderly mother. And I know several people who have asthma. It's for that reason I'm being cautious by trying to limit my contact with people and things, washing my hands more often, staying home rather than going out ... What we know is that this is a highly infectious strain. I think it wise that sporting events are being cancelled, postponed or played without an audience. I don't think that's panicking ... I think we're seeing officials follow protocols.
  19. Sorry you will have to miss out ... but welcome to TD!
  20. It was a day later that it was announced. He could have been told then before it was announced. And Baldelli said he wasn’t exactly happy about, but understood. Honestly, I get it. I think he’s allowed some disappointment. But what he does over the next few weeks, then we’ll see what he does with it.
  21. Wow ... you guys read quite a bit more into those tweets than I did. I just read those as disappointed, not whiny ... and the 'I decide' I took as it's up to him. He knows what he has to do, now he has to go work on it and earn a call up.
  22. I didn’t see anything he wrote on twitter as ‘pissed.’ And remember Glen Perkins’ beginnings with the Twins?
  23. Well, the line missing from the Baldelli quote above was: "I can't say he was excited about it, but I think he was understanding." So yeah, not super jazzed. But ... it's up to him at this point ... go and do. He missed a week or so of camp. While I might have wanted to see him continue, they obviously felt he was far enough behind. He'll get his opportunity.
  24. My mom is 90 and I’ll be visiting her next week in Florida. This is about where I’m at and another reason to be more diligent with precautions. But I’m still having a difficult time understanding all the TP buying frenzy.
  25. I’m not panicked, but I am taking it more seriously and trying to take greater precautions. This doesn’t include buying up all the TP I can find, but it does include buying a bit more at one time than usual to minimize trips to the store, trying to avoid mass transit, and wearing latex gloves at the gym and at work when I have to handle a lot of music. I also avoid touching things ... elevator buttons and door handles, for example, and other public surfaces. I've always been a good and thorough hand washer, but am washing more often. If it all amounts to nonsense, so be it. I’m no worse off for being diligent. Agreed, panic is bad. So is complacency, imo.
