  1. You know ... I think a LOT of batters take way too much, time ... in and out of that batter's box.
  2. Moderator note: There is now an article out on this incident, however, since it has an angle of 'Could this have affected the Twins', it's in the Twins Talk forum. Feel free to continue the general discussion here, but if you want to see the discussion there, here is the link: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36125-front-page-have-the-twins-been-getting-beaten-by-cheaters/?do=findComment&comment=949399
  3. Moderator note: To remind readers, there has been an ongoing discussion about this case in the Other Baseball forum. Since it was contained to the Astros, and now somewhat Boston, and a more general discussion, it wasn't a Twins article so remains there. But in case you want to read/see all the comments so far, from the time this came to light back in November, here is the link to that discussion thread: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/35518-astros-being-investigated-for-using-tech-to-steal-pitching-signs/page-6?do=findComment&comment=949361
  4. By the way ... and mostly a question for Brock ... did anyone catch the John Williams cameo? I was like ... ‘Hey, I think that was John Williams ...’ Sure enough, it was.
  5. That was some love story!
  6. Umm ... really?
  7. Angry? No, I’m not angry. A little disappointed and frustrated, but, for me, it’s just difficult for me to expend that much energy on something I have zero control over, unless I forget, as I do from time to time. But I do have control over what I spend my money on and could choose to limit my spending on games and whatnot. And I keep reciting my mantra in times like this ... ‘It’s only a game, it’s only a game.’ Yeah, I’d prefer it to be a joyful diversion from other aspects of life and death around the world, but, there it is ... it’s not life or death here. That all said, imo, I’ll give it a bit more time, until the season starts, before I hand out my grade, but the FO needs to turn in one heckuva final!
  8. It always takes two in these case ... I don’t think it’s a ‘pick a side’, finger pointing issue. This is also just how it’s done. And given what pitchers have gotten this year, I don’t blame him for wanting to optimize what he will earn. And there is still time. They could come to an agreement before they actually get to arbitration.
  9. Did you read this thread before reading the news on Sano? I’m hoping they are going to work out a deal with Berrios, too.
  10. Maybe they are trying to work out a deal with him and that’s the hold up, and not $375,000.
  11. Neil Peart ...
  12. The Miracle? Old habits ...
  13. Topic is topic ... off topic is off topic. We’ve meandered around, mostly in circles, so, enough ... ALL parties involved. You needn’t respond to EVERY comment, especially more generalized or tangential comments, unless it pertains to Donaldson directly. I think there is really little else to say here, until there is more news, so let’s move on. If you want a more generalized discussion on value and spending and whatnot, please, PLEASE, start your own thread or write a blog. But don’t drag every thread down the path of your own topics ... please.
  14. Adrianza is a far better SS defensively. Far better. He’s probably better defensively at all the infield positions than our starters. Guess that’s why he’s a utility guy. But, we do have someone better at SS ...
  15. This was already brought to the forums and can be found in this thread ... please continue discussion there: http://twinsdaily.com/topic/36067-baseball-savant-infield-outs-below-average/
  16. I've seen some of his workouts and activity on instagram. He looks like he's kept up with some kind of regimen.
  17. Well, since they (JD's manager and the Twins FO) have been in daily communication, according to reports, I would hope the Twins would have the opportunity to add to their offer if the Braves up their offer. I don't really consider it a 'swoop' unless some mystery team comes in and beats out both the Braves and the Twins. (The Cubs were always in on Darvish, so I don't consider that a swoop.) But yeah ... the Twins could avoid that from happening by jumping to the max right now. I'm not suggesting they shouldn't ... but I do think the 4/110 was a ploy to set the price high so his manager could hopefully negotiate something higher than what is currently being offered. But yeah ... I suppose another team could swoop in and offer that, I guess, but I'm not sure who is out there now who will do that. So, it's a ploy to maximize his deal, swoop or no swoop.
  18. Yep ... I think this was his ploy to see who blinked first or to get someone to come up. No one has blinked, yet, so ... wait and see. But since no one is quick to up their offer ... the Nats have clearly stated theirs is still on the table but they aren't upping it ... and the Braves upped theirs to add a 4th year, but monetarily, no one sounds close to the 110 he wants.
  19. The keylime/chocolate swirl is!
  20. Get there early and take some time to check out activity on the minor league fields. Official minor league report by date is Mar. 3, so while there won’t be any minor league games going on at that time, there will likely still be players down on that end running drills and practicing. If you want seating in the shade, the 200 sections, row 10 or higher would be the best bet; or on the 301, 302 terraces. Or with kids, they might have fun with the grass seating, but bring a blanket or towels to sit on. There are lots of parks in the area with beaches or trails or kayaking. Not sure the ages of your kids, so that might make a difference. The Edison-Ford Estates are good. The Ding Darling Refuge on Sanibel is really good, closed on Fridays; but in season, my recommendation for Sanibel is to get out there early, and then come off island before it’s too late in the afternoon. Traffic gets very backed up. There are also good beaches on Sanibel and the Shell Museum is pretty interesting. And the Sanibel Thriller is a good boat tour and dolphins chase the boat. As for golf and fishing ... I don’t do either. The one time I went fishing, I got sea sick. But there are lots of golf courses in the area, many public.
  21. Woohoo! I blame Hosken!
  22. I blame Hosken.
  23. Oh man ... are you trying to jinx it????? Hosken, you should know better!
  24. What we would give for Bryant depends on how many years we would have him for before free agency, and we won’t know that until his grievance is resolved. But the Cubs will be asking for and wanting a lot. I’m not sure what all it would take other than a lot. And I’d say highly regarded pitching will be a part of it. I’d rather have Bryant than Donaldson, though, just not sure the cost.
