  1. I'd say no deal to that. I'm okay with losing Graterol ... I'm not okay with either of the other two.
  2. Yeah, but his recovery is a concern if you read heezy’s comment on what Hill is recouping from and his skepticism he’ll be able to come back and be effective.
  3. 103 ... long life well lived, Spartacus
  4. Yeah ... I just edited my post after checking ... they have the lowest ranked farm.
  5. I don't think Boston's farm is rated that high? Checked ... nope ... it's one of the lowest.
  6. I think it honestly will be the best way to promote themselves. And I look forward to it. Thanks, Van!
  7. Plus ... he's got the voice!
  8. Favorite Sanibel beach?
  9. This is all great ... thanks! And I may have seen you in the store (along with thousands of other fans) ... I usually buy a new hat every year
  10. Has anyone seen Awkwafina is Nora from Brooklyn? It’s new, and there are only 2 episodes so far, but I think it’s funny.
  11. I try to choose a different one every day. Plus topics that interest me. I find that that fills up most of my time, and then check out the other forums. It's all about pacing. I don't think anyone expects anyone to read everything. Think of it as a smorgasbord and pick and choose a few morsels a day. I think that having too much to read is way better than not having enough. And now that we've split up the forums a bit, it's a lot easier (at least for me) to keep up, even if I'm not able to read everything. I think there is a lot of quality being written as well as quantity. But I like you idea of a 'Get to Know 'Em' thread for the writers ... what kinds of questions would you like to be asked?
  12. Yes, cheating is cheating. But the difference isn't in how they cheated, the difference is Polanco, Cruz and Pineda faced penalties. Marwin has not. That's the difference. Will he? Don't know yet. Perhaps the complete investigation isn't over yet, so, it's a wait and see as to what will happen. But yeah, until which time, the 'throw the bum out' type comments I think are a bit ... one-sided. Still, players involved should be fined in some manner. So far, other than the world knowing they cheated, they have still reaped the rewards of 'winning' without penalty. That's what bothers me. So, no, it's not the same. That said, I agree, Marwin will remain on the team and should. I don't think it's a discussion, actually.
  13. Well ... I'm gonna say this again when I did a couple of posts ago. There is a huge difference there. Polanco, Pineda, Cruz were caught and punished according to MLB rules. They paid a price for what they did and 'served their time.' They were named publicly and were fined. Some could argue it wasn't enough, but they faced some form of punishment. Gonzalez? What was his punishment? MLB has levied nothing against him nor have I heard any kind of acknowledgement from him. It's likely that acknowledgement will come privately, if at all, and perhaps already has. Or maybe the full investigation needs to be completed before anyone says anything. Don't know. But MLB has done nothing so far to any players involved when it was the players who were just as complicit as those who have already been suspended a year. I agree, you can't suspend an entire team just before the season starts, but ... what have these guys faced? They aren't getting their championships vacated. So ... there's really a difference here. Maybe they should all be fined any amount of money they received for winning the WS. And turn in their rings. The title will still be theirs in the record books, with an asterisk, but everything else should be returned as a fine. Of course, we haven't heard how widespread this is, yet. But there is a difference between the players named. That said, yes, Marwin will be on the team and will not be cut. But I do wish he were facing some kind of penalty for cheating, as the others did.
  14. That’s not really the same thing ... Polanco, Cruz and Pineda faced penalties for what they did. Some could argue it wasn’t enough, but they faced charges according to the rules. No players have yet to be punished for their part in the sign-stealing cheating. I agree that after this contract, Marwin’s career could be over, so maybe the league will take care of it that way. But until which time the league decides what to do with players involved, or his play on field declines, or his presence is an actual disruption in the clubhouse (and not our speculation that it will be), the FO will not do anything but let it play out. So, he’s on the team until he isn’t.
  15. Peter Serkin, from pancreatic cancer, RIP. He was a beautiful musician. I had the pleasure to hear him in concert many times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEn8f08-BmI https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/01/arts/music/peter-serkin-dead.html
  16. Yeah, I was most definitely not a fan of the ‘Spy vs Spy’ look and hope they don’t repeat that.
  17. Damn ... I'm going to have to pay for this ...
  18. I never knew you to be a conspiracy theorist!
  19. Crashing how? Completely freezing or shutting down or getting the page reload message? I actually stopped using Firefox a while ago on all my computers and devices because I was having a lot of difficulties with it.
  20. Very sad and tragic ... and his daughter, too.
  21. MODERATOR NOTE: Please stick to the topic which is NOT compare and contrast Ryan with Falvey/Levine. I don't care who signed whom, and it doesn't matter, nor is the OP asking for that ... it's asking you to discuss our backup options no matter who signed them. If you want to have a compare/contrast 'regimes' discussion, please start your own thread or write a blog.
