The only reason off the top of my head is that Dozier seems to do better and thrive in the leadoff spot. There isn't another strategic reason and I would be interested to see what the numbers say when Dozier hits in different spots in the lineup.
I should have been more specific and connected the comments to this most recent losing streak. They looked legit in July into early August per my memory.
It would have been nice to see some end of season fight and growth from the young guys. Now it appears we might just fold up the tents. It's a lost opportunity to make some progress in a low pressure situation.
How can a team with one of the worst records in the league not have room for a guy with a .955 OPS? It's time to face reality and confront the option of sitting Mauer more often or benching him entirely. I'd rather see what Vargas can do these last 6 weeks as opposed to getting the same old Joe.
He already changed his swing in Rochester before his most recent call up. Working Plouffe into the lineup makes no sense at this point unless we are trying to build Trevor's trade value. Buck needs ABs here.
Decent enough guy and alright pitcher over the years when he was here. His departure simply didn't register as a big deal to most casual Twins fans and feels like ancient and forgotten history at this point. Here's hoping he does well and has success in baseball and in retirement.
