  1. The future's so bright I gotta wear shades. Piss on these projections (though they might be right on the pitching).
  2. 2016 is an even year - did Little Nicky hit .200 or .300 in even years?
  3. Yes, it was brutal and embarassing. However, in Joe's defense he probably lost the race because he whimped out and avoided contact. It's difficult to believe this guy was recruited to play college football.
  4. Yeah he might be stronger but would he still lose a foot race with CC Sabathia?
  5. It sure would be nice if baseball implemented a true revenue sharing abd salary cap system similar to the NFL. Then punters like the Twins would have no wiggle room when when they are being criticized.
  6. Good suggestions but we are a family on a budget and my wife and I don't drink.. so it's the our family section where the cost of a hot dog and soda is built into the ticket face value.
  7. What's wrong with having dual closers? Giving Perk some help by having Jepsen take save opportunities sounds prudent given Perk's recent 2nd half collapses.
  8. Sign the guy just for the cool name if nothing else. He does seem like an upgrade so why hesitate if he wants three years instead of one year. This franchise can afford it and really owes it to the fans to take calculated risks. We have a shot in 2016.
  9. He is not a winner and is not known for his clutch hitting in pressure situations. His playoff stats are abysmal, to be kind. The big question is was he dominant enough when he was catching to get the votes for HOF? It should be fun to see how his career ends and how the HOF values his career. Good January talking points for years to come.
  10. This year for the Twins reminds me of when Denny Green stated the Vikes had no weaknesses in the roster and everyone scoffed. They then went 15-1 and... well Gary Anderson... let's hope these Twins have the same type of regular season but a better playoff run.
  11. Bench Mauer - it will improve the club overall and open the door for a young guy to prove his worth.
  12. No, Bonds should not make it and should not be on the ballot. He is a fraud and what he did to the game of baseball is unforgivable.
  13. The only thing I'd add would be the dance parties and the changing of the clubhouse culture away from the dreary end of the Gardenhire era.
  14. With the swings from year to year on established players it makes me question the reliability of the defensive metrics.
  15. This reminds me of the qoute from Rudy "That one play sums up your entire career." This one (outdated) quote sums up Mauer's entire career. Bench him in favor of Sano and Park and Plouffe.
  16. We need to address the closer issue. Perk has broken down in the second half the last few years and really cost us in last year's WC chase.
  17. The future is now and Mauer is not our future. Bench Old Joe and make sure Sano and Park get full time status. We might not be able to trade Mauer but I do not understand why the Twins feel obligated to play him. Joe looks like a great part time/pinch hitter who we can plug in if someone gets injured.
  18. Good memories. Do you feel this group over achieved or under achieved? My heart says over but my brain says under with ony one playoff series victory. The group I grew up with was the 1987 and 1991 teams and I heard the legends of Killebrew, Carew, etc. as history. Hard to believe another round of Twins history is cycling through. The future is bright again with Sano, Buxton, Kepler, etc. That's why I am a fan for life.
  19. The Dodgers. I have been cheering for them my entire life and remember the Dodgers losing to the Yankees in the WS in 1977 and 1978. Reggie Jackson made me cry when he hit all those home runs (I was only 5 or 6 years old). Didn't become a Twins until 1983 when my family moved to MN.
  20. Sign him. We might have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs for the first time in a decade plus. What is there to wait for? 1991 was a long time ago...
  21. Agreed. Seems like part of the (implied) deal that came with Target Field was that the Twins would be more aggressive in the free agent market. While the Twins have made some more aggressive free agent deals since playing at Target Field (with varying and mostly disappointing results) I also have no clue why fans would worry over spending too much money. This franchise has under spent its entire existence. How about we overspend for a few years (wisely) and reap those benefits.
  22. Bastardo's stuff is dirty so we should sign that dirty Bastardo.
  23. If they don't make the playoffs it is a major fail and some of the young guys/prospects/Park will have shown us they are not what we thought they were.
  24. That's what you get for cheering for the Braves - or any Atlanta team.
