    What specifically they didn't like about the medical report was that their fans were caning them over the deal. They claimed to find something they didn't like in order to save face, and maybe their clown-shoe-wearing jobs.

    I'm thinking this might be the way it all works out. I'd miss not getting Maeda, but I'd be fine getting Bustah Gatorade back. But can you just imagine how enthused Maeda would be to be heading to Boston, after they pulled this crap a week before ST?

    "...review of the records..." Pffft. They had all the info they needed already. They're using the TJ surgery history now to hold this trade hostage, because the Red Sox mgt. is getting royally caned by their fans. They let go a budding superstar for a couple of barely-tasted-mlb players their base had never heard of, and now they want to reneg out of sheer embarrassment. You absolutely cannot tell me, with the millions of $ at stake, that they didn't already know everything that was already available. "A review of the records..." Fer cryin' out loud, are they trying to pretend they just got the info? That things were being hidden away to try to hookwink them? What a pantload. They hoodwinked themselves. I already loathe this organization with an abiding passion, as well as their entitled fan base. Makes me wish the Curse of the Bambino was still in effect.

    Me too. Maeda wasn't even on my radar. And I HATE losing Brusdar! Who's going to top the rotation in the Kiriloff/Royce/Larnach/Rooker team?

    I hope we can do this. Walker is a dice-roll, for sure, but the potential... We can't assume Odo isn't gone after this year, and who can possibly know what Hill and Homer will give us? Give him a deal like Pineda's first one, perhaps, and see what happens.

    That's a really good debriefing on the JD topic. (Other than Mardy Fish being more famous as a tennis player ;-) ) I hope, as well, that this is a harbinger of breaking that old mold of being "in on" talented players, and "just missing out," ad infinitum-- making the longest damn winters in the league even longer with no glimmer of summer hope from a big FA signing... Thanks, Nick!

    What an intriguing scroll through the espn site- 1st article, Twins sign Donaldson. Next article, Cora fired. Wow. I hate the thought of anybody losing their job, but sometimes it's justified. I believe it is in this case, and I wonder if Beltran will be next.

    Well, that shoe may be yet to drop, but in light of the evidence given so far, Cora and Beltran both need to be spanked- hard. And both of them Mlb managers? No way those slimy dudes should walk, or get a slap on the wrist. We'll see.

    This truly sucks at the highest level. Waiting to see what's going to befall Cora, but how can they possibly let Beltran off the hook? This is like the opposite of a regular scandal, where the low-level perps take all the punishment, but the bosses skate free. Now it's the mucky-mucks taking the heat, while the guys who did the dirty work seem to be taking a walk. We'll see. On another note- it's no surprise Farquar was able to hear those drumbeats loud and clear- nobody goes to games with the White Sox, so there wasn't much crowd noise to interfere. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk....
