  1. Well, I hope a couple of people step up tonight- looking at you, Jose- because that thing yesterday was just pathetic. I feel blessed I wasn't able to actually watch that hot mess. Except for Odor-Easy.
  2. Busy day today, not a lotta chances to check in- So left it alone when the boys got behind, checked back in when they tied it up! Had a quick meeting, then back just in time to see the return of Bad Pressly. Dang.
  3. That's a pretty darn good Angels lineup. I think to win we have to beat Garrett Richard's brains in. I say slugfest today.
  4. Pretty much that whole stretch of Twins All-Stars from the 80s/90s lean years.... We gotta pick one guy? Hm. Who's it gonna be this year? (Laudner, Dave Engel, The Coomster, Gary Ward, Doug Corbett, heck, even Eduardo Nunez....)
  5. He's like the right-handed version of Hrbek. The guy used to frustrate me to no end. All the physical gifts in the world, and never bothered to take the least bit of care of himself. Don't get me wrong, he still did wonderful things for the home town team, but who can ever say what could have been with maybe a little better diet and striving for top physical shape? Big guys like he and Sano are just so much more susceptible to niggling injuries, like Sano has now. All that extra weight you have to carry puts extra pressure on your body, inside and out. Of course, everyone gets to manage their own lives, and everyone wants to feel comfortable in their own skin- but the incredibly short window of a life that you have to perform at such a high level is so fleeting, and subject to whimsical factors, that I fail to understand how a (now) grown man can't recognize that, and do everything he can to put himself in the best shape possible. I played all kinds of sports throughout my decades (too many), and still compete deep into my 50's. There were always bigger, faster, quicker-reflexed guys out there, and I always had to work my butt off to rise to a barely competent level. Like so many of us fans, we look at these guys living our dreams out there, and wonder. I'm sure most of us have made that Walter Mitty pact, that if we'd been given the same physical gifts, man, we'd take care of ourselves to do it as well and as long as possible. Enhancing and prolonging a career in the bigs, (with the $ compensation that goes with it) would seem to compel you to do this. But some fellas.... well...... coulda been.
  6. Yah, Geez Lousie, why send the roly-poly guy with Mauer coming up next with bases loaded?
  7. His little Gameday photo looks like a photoshop of a Twins cap on top of a guy from the 20th Maine regiment at Gettysburg....
  8. I almost- but not quite- feel sorry for those Cardinal hitters- after the blazing heat and movement of Romero, here comes funky, quirky Hildy... Haaaaa.....
  9. Hey, where's North been, eh? 'Dem Jets are only 1 win away from conference finals, eh? So, like, kind of missed the Canuck perspective this season, eh?
  10. I say we roast this Gant kid this inning. Come on, bats!
  11. I'd concur, but don't let him face the tying run.
  12. Nicely done! I am like, way impressed with this kid's presence and moxie. Do we have a catchy nickname for him yet? Come on, TD, I know there's one out there....
  13. Kinda hoping the kid wouldn't have to face Fowler with guys on this inning.... Let's see how he handles it....
  14. Yeh, especially painful when Molly keeps him in critical spots in the order all the while, too. Maybe a couple of days, at least, at 7, just to shake things out a little?
  15. Hm. The Cards' rook is settling down, too. Golly, I was hoping they'd toast him, and get into their already-tired pen by now, but he's toughing it out. **Edited**-- we may need a few more runs yet tonight.
  16. It seems from what's been said, that he's eventually going to move to the pen to keep his innings down. But I don't see anyone other than Lynn right now that gets nixed from the rotation in the meantime, even if that means eating a lot of dough. (Heh... Lynn... lot of dough.... ;-) ) But that one-year contract is looking mighty good right now.
  17. I can only peek at the game in small bytes between class and stuff-- but man, this kid! He blazed that fastball at 'em the first go-round, now he's getting whimpy waves at the slider! Good work young man, and Buddy Wilson, or whatever.
  18. He did, however, do an excellent job of compounding the problem.
  19. It does seem to be for a certain manager of a certain upper-Midwest team...
  20. Well, we wasted a rare Joe Mauer HR the other day, today we get to waste LoMo finally breaking out a bit. What will we waste tomorrow? I know! I know! We'll somehow squander a terrific quality start! Again.
  21. Getting sick of this one. But not interested enough to look for another amusing photo. At least it wasn't Palka this time.
