Not a sexy spot or take but I think Ryan Fitzgerald is a good bench piece for 2026. Not a lot of guys can play 1 day a week and have good at bats. He can play all three infield positions and he can plays some OF. He is a major league 26th man.

I think Ohl and Adam’s if they transition into a 1 inning role I think they can be major league middle relievers. Braggs if he can figure out the control might be able to be the lefty specialist.

Ober,Lewis, Jeffers, Sands, Ryan will be offered arb, Jeffers and Ryan might be traded before the Twins pay them a dime. Larnach will be non tendered. I can’t tell on the organizational view of Kody Clemens, if he is viewed as a utility player who can play some OF and 2B he could be a useful bench piece. If he is viewed as just a 1B and our best option at 1B in 26 you know what happens this offseason. Im guessing he is a guy they offer a MLB contract to prior to Arb. If they aren’t close on salary he gets non tendered. The relievers they might offer 1 yr contracts to prior to arb offers and if they don’t accept they will likely be non tendered.

I’m hoping Wallner picks up a 1B and works on the footwork and grounders all offseason. There is no way they keep both Ryan and Pablo and don’t make any big bullpen adds. I feel they will be trading one or both of them. As well as trading Jeffers. I think Parada is DFA and Gasper has a better chance of sticking as the back up catcher. I don’t think he has looked good defensively behind the plate but I think he has looked better than expected. His bat is much more long term then a few good hits Parada has had who I think has looked bad defensively airmailing throws and passed balls.

I like Wallner’s bat, I think learning 1B in the offseason and letting an OF of Outman, Buxton, Martin Roden to start the season. With Erod and Walker Jenkins not far off. You can bring in a good defensive SS to fill in and a RH 1B. That gives you a Wallner Clemens FA 1B rotation at DH/1B with Wallner and Clemens having a little positional flexibility. The bullpen is a disaster and will likely be more throw **** at wall and see what sticks. I just feel that Pablo and Ryan and Jeffers all get traded and at that point it doesn’t much matter what else you do your a 100 loss team.

Funderburk had another good outing out of the Pen, along with Laweryson and Sands continues to look terrible along with Tonkin. Tonkin is getting DFAed after the season Sand and his 5+ ERA might not be far behind. Outman also made some nice catches out in RF that saved Pablo who looked bad. Hoping it’s not a major injury for Lopez.

I have to disagree like many other on Sand….. he looks to be the same guy he was before the deadline…..a 6th or 7th guy in a good bullpen, a major leaguer but not a high leverage guy. Martin I think needs to be a semi regular player to be productive. So guys can’t just play 2 or 3 days a week and be productive. Im going to give two other guys who I think have shown they are worth consideration for bench spots in 26. Ryan Fitzgerald - as the 26th man or last guy on the bench he has show he can play 1 or 2 days a week and have a professional AB. He can back up the infield including SS and can play the OF as well. It’s not sexy but a lot of guys can’t play that sparingly and give good AB and defense. Mickey Gasper - the guy still hasn’t hit at all but I’ve been suprised at his defense behind the plate. I think he has shown he can do more than just moonlight as a catcher. I think he has a shot to stick on the 40 man and could be the backup catcher or provided depth as the 3rd catcher in AAA.

I can honestly seem them in the 80 Million range. Pablo traded. Ryan traded. Jeffers traded. Larnach DFA. Thats 35 million of the books. Then they go out and spend 25 million to finish out the roster bringing in 2 catchers, a glove first SS, journeyman SP and filling out the bullpen possibly a veteran cheap 1B. Thats puts us squarely in the 60 win mark, and the Pohlads can share the revenue share $ with there new investors.

Why would someone silent invest that much $ you say? Well because with revenue sharing if your payroll is low it’s a guaranteed profit business even if the organization is run poorly. Slash payroll down to bare bones and collect revenue sharing check. A’s, Pirates, Marlins all do this. Even the proposed new local TV deal is selling all 14 teams as a package not just the Twins as individual organization.

Mark Cuban is going to buy the team and in a bid for his run for MPLS Mayor he is increase payroll to 300 million and we are going to sign the best free agent SS. I know I need to stop drinking alone on Saturday night! Until new ownership coming I g or Pohlads set a budget/stoppage selling off assets we have no idea. I would selfishly like to see Culpepper in AAA so I can see the defense at SS for myself.

What’s the prospect status or outlook for Kyle Fedko? 21 Hr and 30 SB on August 8th is nothing to scoff at. At 25 yrs old and not much of a minor league track record but looks like he has played all 3 OF spots and 1B. This a minor leaguer or AAAA just having a good season or is he become a legit prospect?

Minnesota Twins Back to Selling Hope
High heat replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If you would have kept Jax, Varland and Stewart……the 3 worst trades (3 of the worst I can remember in a long time). you could sell me on shaking up the core and putting pieces together for 26. Way too many LH corner outfielders who all seem mediocre upside. A lot of AAA or AAAA starting pitchers who are 1 time through the lineup types and don’t seem to have a dominant reliever profile. I think we could be mediocre (.500) season in 27 and possibly get back to competitive by 28. That’s with prospects developing and contributing and looking through Rosie colored glasses.- 36 replies

5 Reasons to Keep Watching the Twins
High heat replied to Alex Boxwell's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I can’t watch regularly either. I like watching prospects and young guys even if they flounder. Knowing the major league players were all just traded to put $ in the greedy poorly managed financials illiterate Pohlad family. the sell off while getting limited legit prospects back and knowing the fire sale isn’t over as long as the Pohlads own the team makes me disinterested. Ryan and Pablo will be traded this offseason if the team isn’t sold Lewis likely isn’t safe either. The Pohlads have turned the Twins into the Pirates organization.- 48 replies

I think Miranda is dead in the water…. Can’t hit at AAA, poor plate discipline, poor fielder at 1B and 3B. Julien though a poor defender at 2B has atleast hit at AAA, has good plate discipline (passive at times) and had played some a 1B in AAA (finally) I think he has one more shot. Martin I believe has the best chance to stick…. Right handed OF with speed, who hit well this yr at AAA. Even if he is a bench bat only if he can play solid defense in LF and CF option with all the LH OF a good chance to stick even if it’s in a limited role.

Ope, Didn't Mean to Let You Have Hope
High heat replied to Chris Hanel's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Falvey doesn’t care he did it for his next job……MLB owners are a small group he was the good soldiers and did as was told to “ make right the payroll”. Aka do what you have to do to make the Pohlads $ as they walk out the door. If the Pohlads are still owners in December and January he will sell both Joe Ryan and Pablo Lopez for nothing. Team will be terrible for the next two seasons and hopefully new ownership comes in and fires the entire front office and a rebuild starts. Falvey will get another job in MLB someplace else, no future here and doesn’t care about getting future pieces here knowing his regime failure here and is getting replaced. It was and is all about making sure the Pohlads made money so they can pay the real estate taxes for there failed downtown buildings. -
In a big picture look at Castro as a whole. Signed as a minor league FA, instantly provided a spark offensively and filling in for injuries at SS, CF and all around the diamond and for league minimum. Has had small increases in salary and providing fill in relief at 6 different positions over 3 yrs. While providing a very solid bat and speed earlier in his Twins tenure. This year got his big arbitration raise and now he is likely going to get traded for future value. He has provided much more value then cost spent over the past 3 season.
-
I could see Coulombe for Long as a good deal for both sides. Ummm Wille Castro even for a 1/2 season is going to cost more in prospect capital then Long.

He will likely be the strong side of the platoon at 1B until the trade deadline. If we are sellers they might cut France after deadline and depending on who gets brought in during trades. If stand pat at deadline Clemens will likely get a long run at 1B the rest of the season. Things may change dramatically roster wise the next 2 weeks.

I think tinkering with Cory Lewis pitch mix is going to be hard based on analytics. I get his Knuckleball grads out really high but that likely has to do with very few other pitchers throwing it and it surprising hitters. He need the fastball/change/slider mix to be better so he can get to the knuckler or using it to get back into counts. I wonder is Lewis using the pitch com to call his own pitches or are his AAA catchers? This might be a change needed as well. Either a catcher he has confidence in (many knuckleball guys had private or specific catchers they used over the years) or himself understanding his pitch mix and calling his own game.
-
I think this depends on where we are at or after the trade deadline. If we are sellers and fringe contenders I think they can and will move on from Vasquez, maybe someone they bring in or just a major league tryout.

I agree with you, but after this season I believe he will be a minor league free agent, at 26 and no prospect or anyone of value playing 1B at AAA you have to see if the production with the bat can translate. I have huge doubts but I think you have to see.

Is Kody Clemens Turning Back into a Pumpkin?
High heat replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No one really thought a 30 yr old journeyman was all the sudden going to hit .270 with 30 hr power. Twins got a ton of value out of him at a time that was desperately needed. He actually may have saved the season. But him turning back into the player he has always been should be expected.
