  1. At least one corner OF spot is needed for Gallo's team strikeout record attempt. AND the team's run at the MLB team strikeout record. Don't mess with immortality.
  2. They WON'T trade a starting pitcher. They HAVE starting pitching. AND a lead in the standings. You don't trade away starting pitching when you have a lead in the standings. You trade FOR starting pitching. No matter how much you have. We've traded away starting pitching at the deadline before. J.A. Happ, Jose Berrios, Lance Lynn, Jaime Garcia, Kevin Correa, Tommy Milone, Kyle Lohse. Some of my favorite Twins memories in recent decades are all the World Series parades in years subsequent to trading guys like that for impressive, franchise changing hauls at the deadline. Can't wait for the next one.
  3. Last year didn't work out so, yes, we should put our heads in the sand this year.
  4. A mistake they likely regret and should try to avoid repeating.
  5. Twins won't move a big major league piece unless they're BLOWN AWAY with an offer. Don't see that happening.
  6. Some things you just can't coach in some guys. The ability to hit breaking pitches is that thing for many guys.
  7. He can't hit breaking pitches. Not sure how much you can coach that up.
  8. The timing issue with Larnach is the one that rears it's head when he tries to put his bat on a breaking pitch.
  9. Twins are said to have the best rotation in MLB. But sure, let's move a RP with a better ERA than all but two of those starters. Why fans don't run teams...
  10. Lopez' recent "absence" is believed to have something to do with the health of his child. This move allows him to be closer to said child. But, sure, assume the worst.
  11. If you think the bag of donuts we'd get offered for Gallo would help us I'd do it. However, it MIGHT be fun to see him break the team strikeout record...
  12. Giolito wasn't getting traded here anyway and the Angels are probably the one AL destination where his acquisition is least likely to negatively impact us.
  13. More to this trade than meets the eye.
  14. There you go. If Teoscar is leading the league in strikeouts and NOT playing for us that's a problem that needs to get fixed. We can't expect Joey Gallo to set the league team strikeout record by himself.....
  15. Don't these teams understand that we WANT these players?
  16. Again, maybe a solid idea but if you break it down a little further you're looking at half of Berrios' career for two months of Bellinger.
  17. Consider that Bellinger will likely be incredibly difficult to re-sign and may well end up right back with the Cubs. Just sayin
  18. Either we're on our way to getting healthy enough to win the World Series or we need help. Not sure what we've seen thus far to make us believe it will be the former rather than the latter. AND, another funny thing about guys getting healthy: Injuries CAN also occur between now and the end of October. Nice to have more options available should that happen.
  19. Actually Berrios made $15 Million last year. 28th highest for a starting pitcher. He won 12 games. 26th most for a starter. In retrospect, solid deal. He's making $15 Million this year as well. 33rd for a starting pitcher. He's on pace to win 13 this year. Which would put him 23rd. 23rd production for 33rd pay is what I like to call value. I'd take it. AND, had we not made that trade we might not have put ourselves in position to need to make the Mahle trade. Possibly not even the Arraez trade. Just sayin
  20. Berrios so much wanted to be a free agent that he re-signed with the team he was playing for. $19 million for seven years for the best home grown pitcher you have developed in a generation is actually quite reasonable.
  21. Still suffering the after effects of Berrios trade.
  22. How can you overlook trading Jeff Holly for Fernando Arroyo?
  23. If memory serves me right, and, no, I haven't done the requisite research: Most of those guys left as free agents and we got nothing for them.
