  1. The POINT is that Lee may well be ready to play everyday at the big league level as soon as early April. And to be honest, the sooner the better. And hopefully Walker Jenkins ends up no more than a year behind him.
  2. Pretty sure he'd somehow manage to carve out 400 plus at bats.
  3. If Lee is being kept on the farm due in any part to the presence of Castro & Farmer than they are all part of the same discussion. If you REALLY believe the team is better served by having one or both of them on it you certainly have the right to have the opinion. I don't. And furthermore, I look forward to, at some future time mocking you for ever having had that opinion.
  4. Talented guys tend to get to the big leagues sooner not because of their ages but because of their talent. This guy is a little older because he played college ball. So was Larnach. Hope to hell he's not another Larnach.
  5. Sure. Guys like Castro & Farmer are adequate. Adequate gets you an early October tee time. We don't need adequate. This guy might be special. Not in St. Paul.
  6. I see many assuming that he would not be an upgrade over guys currently projected to be on the roster. However, it IS possible that he just might be better. And even MUCH better. That's why you have to consider taking a chance. I spend every off season listening to Twins fans whine because we never go out and spend big on free agents. This guy has a chance to be something we've rarely seen around here from day one. We have a chance to have a 1-2 punch of Lewis & Lee that few other teams can match. Yes, guys like Castro and Farmer are "adequate." They are NOT going to be superstars. This guy might be. But not in St. Paul.
  7. Ok. In the last 60 years. To be honest, how many undrafted US born players even make it to the bigs?
  8. I still want to know: Has any un-drafted college grad advanced to the big leagues quicker than Dobnak?
  9. A year ago I viewed Castro as another Kyle Garlick / Robbie Grossman type. A guy that you look at after the season and realize that if you go into the following season counting on him you're probably in for another disappointment. He proved me wrong. Maybe Goodrum will do the same.
  10. Be thankful you're not an Orioles fan. Your team just had it's best season in 30 years and got SPANKED in the playoffs. And their payroll is projected to be $30 million LESS than the Twins.
  11. And it was almost like the Twins spent wisely and DID make the playoffs..
  12. Pony up. Buy the team. W'ed LOVE to see it done right.
  13. Right. YOU are the one who knows. ********.
  14. Not gonna be wild about paying any amount for a something I've not paid for for years.
  15. I'm fairly certain that the folks that comment on here know the numbers with 100% certainty. Probably better than the Twins own accountants and finance guys and way better than MLB's guys as well. Those guys don't know nothing. I always come to the experts on here for financial advice.
  16. I remember when we signed Solano thinking "what the hell are they thinking?" In fact I still thought that 6 weeks into the season when he had 5 RBI. I was proven wrong. And as for having enough utility players, You can never have enough GOOD players.
  17. Lots of guys destroy AAA pitching but never quite do the same at the MLB level. There's even a term for them: AAAA players. The heralded young guns have done more in less time at the big league level That's why they are heralded. Kirilloff might get there but until he does he hasn't .
  18. I'll believe KIrilloff is healthy when I see 450 plate appearances. The difference between him and Buxton is that at least Buxton has demonstrated his ability to be a difference maker if he stays healthy. Kirilloff has looked ok but not yet special. Maybe he gets there.
  19. I for one ALWAYS believe everything professional sports front office guys say at all times.
  20. All I've seen is a MLB Rumors article that talks about scenarios for each of the 30 teams to sign Bellinger. This is the Twins synopsis: "Like the Mariners, the Twins have been working to reduce payroll. Their current projection of $123.5MM is right around the bottom end of their reported $125-140MM target range for payroll. Minnesota has been open to adding a right-handed-hitting outfielder and further rotation depth. They did this with Correa, so let’s not rule them out entirely. But if they were to, say, trade Kyle Farmer to free up $6.3MM and then make one more notable addition, a pitcher like Montgomery seems much more plausible than another lefty-swinging outfielder." So basically it IS possible. About the same as me dating a Karsdashian.
  21. Probably true. That being said, he doesn't have to be on the opening day roster to win the ROY. We make such a big deal about the opening day roster. Actually means very little. Someone could get hurt in very short order. Or under perform. Kid just needs to be ready when the opportunity comes along and run with it when it does.
  22. "No future or present need for Gonzalez" An OF on a team with a LF who cant hit left handed pitching, a RF who every rube in the state had been trying to trade for three years, a CF who didn't play a single pitch in the field last year? A former 1st round pick who can't hit pitches that aren't straight. Highly unlikely but possible that the kid gets to Minneapolis before he's old enough to buy a drink.
