  1. Lots of guys destroy AAA pitching but never quite do the same at the MLB level. There's even a term for them: AAAA players. The heralded young guns have done more in less time at the big league level That's why they are heralded. Kirilloff might get there but until he does he hasn't .
  2. I'll believe KIrilloff is healthy when I see 450 plate appearances. The difference between him and Buxton is that at least Buxton has demonstrated his ability to be a difference maker if he stays healthy. Kirilloff has looked ok but not yet special. Maybe he gets there.
  3. I for one ALWAYS believe everything professional sports front office guys say at all times.
  4. All I've seen is a MLB Rumors article that talks about scenarios for each of the 30 teams to sign Bellinger. This is the Twins synopsis: "Like the Mariners, the Twins have been working to reduce payroll. Their current projection of $123.5MM is right around the bottom end of their reported $125-140MM target range for payroll. Minnesota has been open to adding a right-handed-hitting outfielder and further rotation depth. They did this with Correa, so let’s not rule them out entirely. But if they were to, say, trade Kyle Farmer to free up $6.3MM and then make one more notable addition, a pitcher like Montgomery seems much more plausible than another lefty-swinging outfielder." So basically it IS possible. About the same as me dating a Karsdashian.
  5. Probably true. That being said, he doesn't have to be on the opening day roster to win the ROY. We make such a big deal about the opening day roster. Actually means very little. Someone could get hurt in very short order. Or under perform. Kid just needs to be ready when the opportunity comes along and run with it when it does.
  6. "No future or present need for Gonzalez" An OF on a team with a LF who cant hit left handed pitching, a RF who every rube in the state had been trying to trade for three years, a CF who didn't play a single pitch in the field last year? A former 1st round pick who can't hit pitches that aren't straight. Highly unlikely but possible that the kid gets to Minneapolis before he's old enough to buy a drink.
  7. so maybe we should trade our SS & C or a SP?
  8. Would just point out that it might be fair to expect regression from at least one of the three young guys at 2B / 3B / LF
  9. Complain about the Jaime Garcia deal(s) all you want but the fun fact is that he won more games for the Twins than he did for the Yankees that year.
  10. Everyone gets hung up on the opening day 25 but at the end of the day there are usually at least another dozen who end up making contributions so I would be surprised if more than 2 or three of these guys DON'T contribute with a handful probably doing so in a major way.
  11. Wait. They HAVE a philosophy?
  12. Seems unlikely that anyone, Mets, or Dodgers or anyone else goes undefeated. Chance are every team loses at least 50 plus games. Not even a guarantee that the Dodgers win in the post-season.
  13. could do the same thing all over again. Or he could fall off a cliff. Guess that's why they play the games.
  14. It's almost like they think they know more than we do...
  15. And if they DO trade these guys for prospects, the same folks bitching about them not doing so will bitch about them "giving up on the 2024 season."
  16. It's less about getting a guy much better than our current projected 2 and 3 and more about getting more guys who can be 2 and 3 and 4 and hoping that one of them approaches number one. Nobody saw Gray or Lopez more than number twos but having both of them gave us more chances of one of them blossoming.
  17. Probably. Would he take it? Probably not.
  18. Pretty sure you're right. Harris went to Montreal in the Garciaparra trade. The Twins got a pitcher names Justin Jones. Don't think he ever got any higher than AA.
  19. Look at the strike box on TV which will very much closely approximate what robot umps will call. Then pick up a rule book and look at where the actual strike zone is. Not even close. End of story.
  20. Usually the injuries occur after the Twins acquire the player.
  21. robo umps will not accomplish what folks think they will
