  1. Not only do Lopez, Ryan & Ober "look reliable right now" I challenge you to name a team in the big leagues with three better starters right now......
  2. You get out 100% of the time you don't make contact. Only about 70% of the time you do make contact. It's almost like the Twins front office has known this for decades.
  3. Part of why many legends struggle when they move to DH is because by that point they are no longer legends.
  4. Not to mention that keeping his hands lower might help him hit the low and away thus seeming like fewer of those pitches are unhittable.
  5. Um. The history of baseball. The history of sports in general. Does it always happen? No. Does it happen quite routinely? Yes. And by the way, take Judge off the Yankees, Gunnar Henderson off the O's and get back to me. P.S. The two NL teams you mentioned are both behind the Twins in the standings.
  6. There are a number of clubs with two better than us but I'll agree nobody with three better than our top three. I don't see three in the top 12 though. And you gotta go down about 70 spots before you get to Woods-Richardson. Comes down to do you have confidence in him at the four spot and can the top three be flawless when it really matters.
  7. fugetaboutit. haven't you heard? It's over. We're dead in t he water. No significant deadline deal means we're dead. Get the golf clubs out.
  8. Didn't even read the article. No point. No significant deadline deal means this team is dead in the water. I know this. Because I have been told by multitudinous writers and fans on this website. It's over boys and girls. It's football season baby.;
  9. Ball players streaky? Who knew?
  10. You assume those other teams got better. They got different players. That does not, in and of itself, make them better. The Twins got different players as well. They just got those players in the off-season and sooner than the other teams. Not all of those teams that made deadline moves will get better. Some of them acquired the next Tyler Mahle, The next Dylan Floro, The next Jorge Lopez. The next Sam Dyson. And only one of them, or us, will end up holding the trophy. Many, if not most, will end up regretting the moves they made this week when the players they gave up are tearing it up in a few years.
  11. Need to be better than the team(s) we play in 2024. Nothing more. 2023 has NOTHING to do with anything.
  12. Yeah, we get it, just three proven starters. Sadly for us, there has NEVER been a previously unproven starter make a post-season impact. It would be impossible for SWR to perform well in the playoffs. Or David Festa. Or Louis Varland. Or Paddack. Just can't happen.
  13. Just because Lopez is outperforming YOUR expectation of his abilities doesn't mean he, the team or others in the fans base set the bar for him as low. Many of us have faith in his ability perform at the level that landed him as the Cy Young runner up last year.
  14. All that without the benefit of a major deadline deal. Whodathunkit?
  15. Doesn't have to be better than it was in 2023. Needs to get into the playoffs and be better than the team(s) we play in the playoffs in 2024.
  16. NO. Some random guy(s) on TD says the needed to trade him so it is so. Do you not understand.
  17. Just because other teams APPEAR to have improved their rosters doesn't mean they have. How many teams just traded for Trevor Mahle, Jorge Lopez, Sam Dyson or Dylan Floro? If the ALL hit home runs, congrats, we'll have a dozen and a half teams holding up the World Series trophy at the end of October. We don't know what the possibilities were or what they would have cost. No matter how much some "sources" will try to tell you they do over the next few weeks. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you DON'T make.
  18. It's not that they missed the times you, or others brought the topic up, it's just that acknowledging it didn't fit their preferred narrative, or they didn't believe it would get clicks so they ignored it. Writing is about clicks these days. And yes, journalists are lazy. With the advent of the internet you have multiple times as many folks covering a given team or player or subject as you would have had 40 years ago. One person "reports" something, gets clicks and everybody else "reports" the same thing, using the first person as the "source." Kind of sad.
  19. Sure. Fine. MIGHT be credible. Still a ******** idea.
  20. If they were real journalists we'd call it lazy journalism.
