The Twins should sign him and then dust off 1977 era pitcher Paul Thormodsgard’s old #22 jersey. For those not in the know, the name on the back was “THOR”.
I agree. Don’t bet the farm. I also want a long run of winning seasons. Add a rent-a-player Starter. That moves one of the current starters to the pen. Add Maeda, Dobnak and/or Alcala to the bullpen AND that is improved. Absolutely, the Twins should not trade Steer. It’s equally obvious that they shouldn’t trade Correa, who provides the leadership and performance to lead a successful playoff run this year.
I was at that game today. What a nasty thing to watch? Hopefully, it gave the front office a kick in the pants to make a few additions and a few subtractions.
I agree. I think Kepler and Polanco are likely to be moved to make way for younger (cheaper) and maybe better people at their positions (Arraez, Larnach, Celestino, Steer …).
Huh? Gene Larkin was part of the 87-91 Core Four? He was a bench player. Sorry Gene but Dan Gladden is the other Core Fourman from those years.
Alex Kirilloff looks like a likely Fourman.
It’s easy. after his rehab starts at AAA, evaluate Sanyo’s performance. If he is hitting well and cutting his strike-outs just a little, Sano can be a big help on the bench and as a DH. If he is lousy, or even mediocre, cut ties.
In the MLB Top 100 Prospects St Louis also has #33 prospect Matthew Liberatore (LHP, currently at AAA) and #99 Mason Wynn (SS with a great arm who akdo has the ability to be a pitcher - he is currently at AA).
Jordan Walker is #24.
This might be a way to determine if there is “dirty laundry”. How many Twins pitchers are being quoted lamenting the departure of Wes Johnson? Chris Archer had a nice comment for him in today’s Strib. But it doesn’t seem like the organization is in intense grief over this. But it’s early.
Somehow my post didn’t get posted (TD sometimes censors posts about people who wear masks, so maybe that’s it). So I will try again
Sanchez should play much more than Jeffers. Then with our high draft pick, try to draft Kevin Parada or Daniel Susac, both are college catchers predicted by sone pundits to go in the first round.
Apparently, a Doctor must document an actual injury before a player can be put on the IL. So here are two ways to get that accomplished - Put Duffy in Centerfield at Target Field for a game. He’ll be on the IL before the game is over, based on the history of Twins Center Fielders. Or maybe get one of the No-Vax Four to be Tyler Duffy’s roommate on the road.
In order to beef up their relief corps (at least two are needed). The Twins are going to need to make some decisions about their surplus of talent in the infield (except 1st base) and the outfield. Shedding some of that surplus and adding some prospects should help to shore up the the relief staff.
There is virtually zero scientific support for one being masked outside on a windy day not seated near anyone else. There is a line between over-cautious and simple virtue-signaling (or possibly paranoia - which isn’t healthy).
For those privately making predictions (I’m sure many of us were): Pagan was the only one I got right out if the five. Jim Souhan’s column said there was a starting pitcher among the five.
Kepler is the son of ballet dancers from Germany - that doesn’t seem to be in the anti-vax demographic. Megill and Thielbar were not on my radar.
So - Does that mean TD will pay me for my take on the couple wearing masks outside on a windy day at Target Field with nobody near them? Pretty good material for mocking hysteria.
Then pay me. My sarcastic response was just as “funny” as the overpaid guy. Can I write a paid entry about the masked couple sitting outside at Target Field with nobody near them? They could easily be mocked based on the science.
