  1. Except for Cruz, all are pitchers. If the Twins had a terrific pitching staff, one could say they had dealt from strength. In real life, not so much.
  2. That would be remarkable (improbable, though possible if the bases were loaded and they trailed by 3-5 runs in the ninth inning at home) if true, but I think you mean "final three innings."
  3. I dislike Simmons both because of the selfish covid caper and because his affect on the field is highly unattractive. He never acts like he cares, never seems to smile, and just seems like he's counting the dollars per inning and waiting to get back to the hotel. Maybe it's not fair to judge a guy based on his demeanor, but I suspect that this is one reason that he gets so much flack. He is an aging player who was a great fielder (and is still good) but was never a good hitter (and is now poor). In other words, about what we should have expected. Surely not even close to the worst ever signing.
  4. In other words, he gives up 5 home runs at Yankee Stadium.
  5. I mean, a win is nice, but now they need a new barn. Maybe it was inevitable after starting a guy from Burnsville...
  6. Maybe the Twins can find him a barber before tomorrow night...
  7. And after doing everything he could to lose the game in the 9th, he ends up with a +0.214 WPA?
  8. They probably want the Twins (and maybe Yankees) to get out before the airports close.
  9. Looks like a hurricane and flood warnings in the forecast, so I'm betting there is no game.
  10. Of course, that couldn't have anything whatsoever to do with ESPN being centered in New England ...
  11. I think I remember that The Sporting News, back when it was the definitive baseball Bible before the Internet took over, ranked 1991 as the best of the first 100 World Series. Does someone else remember this? Anything I'm too lazy to look up online?
  12. It's easy to go Obervoard after a couple of good starts...
  13. My prediction: They'll waive him. Detroit will pick him up. He will hit 45 HRs for them next year batting between Baddoo and Schoop.
  14. Maybe it was the talent that got poached that was responsible for the success?
  15. I vote for Falvey to come in to pitch and see what it feels like. And no DH. He gets to hit, too.
  16. It's fun to see pitchers succeed without throwing 120 mph.
  17. If he played this season a couple hundred miles north, India could be an Indian!
  18. Is it just me? On my screen the list seems to skip from #1 to #11 with a tweet in the gap. Is the tweet covering up #2-10?
  19. Was Miranda even mentioned by anyone? After his breakout year it seems like he would have to get a considerable amount of time in the infield next year. If it's a re-tooling year, then I'm fine with Polanco/Gordon taking the SS innings, with Arraez, Miranda, and what's left of Donaldson filling in 2b and 3b. We will all get frustrated watching substandard play at a key position, but shy spend big money (that we don't really have) on an expensive free agent when our two top prospects are a year or maybe two years away and both play SS.
  20. Does anyone really expect that there will be a full season next year? How does a long work stoppage in 2021 fit into this scenario? Certainly lowers the cost of trading Berrios since we wouldn't have gotten much from him anyway. If there is a stoppage, will the minor leagues play? If so, this could be win/win because the youngsters get another part-year of development without the pressure of potentially moving up before they are ready.
  21. Or maybe the Dysons, recalling a former Twin?
  22. When will MLB start the "pitching velocity derby" to go with the home-run derby?
  23. Terrific news. Now, about that contract extension...
  24. Cruz, Surely this train-wreck doesn't deserve more than one...
