  1. Yup. Reminds me of what Kirby used to do. And as he becomes one of the more experienced players, he can be the leader of this team!
  2. Amazing. Odds-on CC hits into a DP there.
  3. The line score on the bottom of my screen showed the 3 about two seconds before the pitch. I knew what was coming!
  4. I don't object to this move, but it's weird!
  5. There is more to clubhouse culture than just "getting along," or "liking each other." A good clubhouse also means a culture that expects effort and success on the field. Sometimes that means calling out players how aren't putting in the required effort. That can be done in a hostile or a friendly manner. Even a good clubhouse can have rivalries, as long as they are respectful and focused on winning. In the olden days, we heard about "Kangaroo Courts" and fines as a friendly reminder that maximum effort is expected. I wonder if they still have something like that.
  6. Pretty strong negative correlation for the Twins between OPS and salary.
  7. Do some/most of the minor leagues end next week, or do they now play into September?
  8. The Twins' system didn't suddenly get better after two teams rescinded their offers due to medical concerns. The Twins were NOT his first choice!
  9. That's what they did. Hits can be lucky or due to poor defense, but walks and HBP are purely on the pitcher.
  10. The good news is that Jax probably can't pitch tomorrow. The bad news is that there is no one better out there.
  11. Duran seems to have no idea where the ball is going.
  12. Scherzer on track for a 252-pitch shutout.
  13. Fahrenheit! I'm waiting for the Celsius!
  14. Posting without comment, though there is an obvious conclusion.. OPS by mode of acquisition: Players coming up through Twins organization Julien, .872 Lewis, .870 Wallner, .864 Jeffers, .862 Kirilloff, .799 Kepler, .774 Polanco, .755 Buxton, .732 Larnach, .715 Miranda, .566 Gordon, .504 Players acquired through trades or FA signings: Solano, .773 Gallo, .765 Correa, .717 Castro, .693 Taylor, .677 Farmer, .659 Vazquez, .579
  15. How long a year is! I haven't thought about "bullpen games" since last year at this time!
  16. I guess they wouldn't be Falvine's type anyway... They don't look good on the spreadsheet.
  17. Maybe we could sign one of those guys next year. Is Vim or Vigor a free agent?
  18. Perhaps we could arrange a Strat-O-Matic league for Gallo and Sano to keep their competitive instincts active without us having to watch all the strike threes.
  19. Duran's fast ball was all over the place. Mostly way outside and high to left-handed hitters. That's his go-to pitch and when he can't get it over, hitters can sit on the breaking ball. I wish I was more confident that the Twins' pitching trust could help him find his control again.
  20. You need the right protection! Mrs. PDX has welder's gloves to deal with her wood-fired pizza oven, which cooks at a dome temp of 1,150F.
