  1. It's truly outstanding! Used to be called Roe and had a slightly different format: four courses (raw fish, shell fish, fin fish, and dessert) with two choices for each course. We've been holding off now because their standard tasting menu has terrestrial meat courses, and at that price skipping the meat courses wouldn't make sense. When I got their email announcing they veggie week, it took about 30 seconds to jump on and make the reservation!
  2. Enjoy your dinner! I'm also missing the game tonight to enjoy the Portland dining scene. First time going to https://www.tercetpdx.com/ since before Covid. They are having a vegetarian week and it's too good to pass up!
  3. Thanks. Disappointing how high the base is relative to the add-ons. I remembered it being a little more incentive-laden But I guess he had a lot of leverage and this is what his agent would accept. Sunk cost, I'm afraid. But added to the sunk cost of the Correa contract, it's a lot of deadwood money for a franchise that considers itself to be relatively low-budget. We'd better hope that the kids all turn out to be stars!
  4. It's probably time to read the fine print of his long contract. I don't remember the details and I'm too lazy to do the research. I remember that he gets paid a lot more if he plays a lot. I don't remember if DH vs. defense plays into that. Are there opt-outs or buy-outs built in? Or are the Twins on the hook for $10m/year or so for a long time?
  5. Games in June count the same as games in September! And he contributed to a lot of them. I'm not at all worried if he is not the best choice right now. We would be ~tied with Cleveland if he had not given us what he did earlier.
  6. Anybody else surprised to see Wallner bat here?
  7. Good play by Lewis, but also a good play by Julien on the batter before given that he has hardly played first base,
  8. His fastball is at 57, and the change-up is at 56. :)
  9. Or not. But the Twins might score 20 or 30 runs off the non-pitchers!
  10. Lewis is up with the bases loaded. It definitely couldn't possibly happen again, could it?
  11. Meaning the Twins passed on him! Great decision!
  12. Such a shame that Cleveland snagged Giolito before we got a chance! NOT!
  13. Lewis can't do it a third time, can he?
  14. Still part of the Minnesota Twins' organization the last I heard.
  15. Anybody watching Plouffe on the pregame show? He's got something on the shelf behind him that looks like a guy eating a big chain. Is this a Minnesota State Fair thing? ????? (For anyone interested, the Washington Post sent a reporter to the Fair. Here's a free link to her food report: https://wapo.st/45zF6x7 )
  16. Well said, Nick. The Twins are excruciatingly frustrating! Just like every other team I've ever followed!
  17. I'm sure he'll do his part. It's just a question of how many times he comes up in a DP situation.
  18. Yup. Reminds me of what Kirby used to do. And as he becomes one of the more experienced players, he can be the leader of this team!
  19. Amazing. Odds-on CC hits into a DP there.
  20. The line score on the bottom of my screen showed the 3 about two seconds before the pitch. I knew what was coming!
  21. I don't object to this move, but it's weird!
  22. There is more to clubhouse culture than just "getting along," or "liking each other." A good clubhouse also means a culture that expects effort and success on the field. Sometimes that means calling out players how aren't putting in the required effort. That can be done in a hostile or a friendly manner. Even a good clubhouse can have rivalries, as long as they are respectful and focused on winning. In the olden days, we heard about "Kangaroo Courts" and fines as a friendly reminder that maximum effort is expected. I wonder if they still have something like that.
  23. Pretty strong negative correlation for the Twins between OPS and salary.
  24. Do some/most of the minor leagues end next week, or do they now play into September?
  25. The Twins' system didn't suddenly get better after two teams rescinded their offers due to medical concerns. The Twins were NOT his first choice!
