  1. I am old. And I liked the format. Once a year, I fly back to Minnesota and spend a couple days with high school and college teammates (hockey) from over 60 years ago and it is a blast reliving (or being reminded of) amusing things that happened back in the days of playing goalie without a mask). Having not played baseball beyond high school, I would like to hear about the difficulty of moving from the infield to the outfield, RF to LF, or SS to 3B. I've never done it so a professional's view is appreciated. I do agree with some that a little more current situation broadcasting would be nice, but almost everything you need to know is on the screen at all times.
  2. And what is your reasoning for saying that his rapid ascension is "out of necessity"?
  3. You should read the TD minor league daily recap. He's been mentioned quite often.
  4. I have three questions about your recap. 1. How did Quad Cities score 7 runs in the BOTTOM of the first and 4 runs in the TOP of the second? 2. How did Adam Falinski pitch a scoreless sixth, gave up the winning run in the ninth, but only pitch 1 2/3 innings? 3. If "With one out, Quentin Young walked. Bass stole his 19th base. On the same pitch, Young went to second on a wild pitch", why did Bass get credit for a stolen base and Young only got credit for advancing on a wild pitch? Just curious.
  5. I can picture an outfield of Wallner in left, Gallo in center, and Sano in right. And they would hit third, fourth, and fifth. And now I feel ill and need to use the bathroom. 😝
  6. I hope Raya is picking up some confidence by getting out of the eigth inning
  7. Chisholm plays defense like he's trying to get traded to the Twins.
  8. And he just threw in a blooper that was 15 feet wide of second.
  9. Just an observation... This is about the third time I've watched a Twins game since Keaschall moved to the outfield and the first time I've seen him have to make a strong throw to second. Why is he in right field? With that arm, he has to be in left field. He short-arms the throws and tooses them in sidearm. That is NOT a right field arm.
  10. Quad Cities must have set some kind of baseball record when they scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the top of the second. Amazing!
  11. If the Yankees offer up a potential "closer in waiting" for Jeffers, make the deal. But I was responding to your assertion that Larnach, Bell, Wallner, or Lewis would bring back "a capable" arm. Maybe Lewis or Larnach, but that might be a 50-50 chance. No way Wallner or Bell would bring back anything better than a .lottery ticket.
  12. The only teams that would be willing to trade a "capable" arm are teams that are building for the future. And those teams sure ain't looking at Larnach, Bell, Wallner, or Lewis as their future saviors. They would want at least one of Rodriguez, Culpepper, or Gonzales and an A ball pitcher. As the Twins new GM, I'm not making that sort of trade.
  13. The Twins are on a pace to lose 85 games. That's a five game improvement over 2025. But, only three teams have made the playoffs with a losing record and those were in altered seasons (two shortened by strikes and one by Covid). If the Twins somehow grabbed a playoff spot, they would be the worst winning percentage team in history to make the playoffs. This is no time to be a buyer.
  14. Why do positions on the field have to be decided by batting profile? Brian Dozier should have been a right fielder, I guess. Hey, Kansas City, move Bobby Witt, Jr. away from SS. I would rather see players at positions at which they provide the best defense.
  15. Is "rangey" even a word? Regardless, I strongly disagree. I played 3B for many years and I was most definitely not "rangey" and I had a mediocre arm. I compensated for those shortcomings by playing closer to home plate. I was also playing goalie at the same time and I had above average reflexes which I honed on the racquetball court by standing close to the front wall, hitting the ball as hard as I could, and fielding it with my glove. (And, yes, I did look stupid wearing a baseball glove on a racquetball court.) My 3B philosophy was to play "a step and a dive" from the foul line. And, if you know anything about cutting down angles (a goalie, remember), by playing more shallow, I could compensate for my lack of range. A good SS also helps immeasurably.
  16. Buy- Buy - Buy. The Twins till have a small chance to be a wildcard team and get bounced in the first round.
  17. Just showing up and skating hard for over 60 minutes are two completely different things. I agree the playoff system sucks, but that's another topic.
  18. Another reason why I don't care if Buxton has lost a little in the speed of his throws. It doesn't make a whole lot of difference.
  19. Byron Buxton has played 11 years in CF (nearly 6600 innings) and has had 24 assists: that's just over two a year. The average number of assists last year for players with over 700 innings in CF was 4.98 (Baseball-Reference.com). If Buxton loses a little arm strength and his assists drop to under two a year, I can live with that.
