  1. And where does the money come from to acquire these three? And don't say by getting rid of Vasquez, Paddock, and Castro. There probably isn't any team that wants Vasquez or Paddock, and Castro might be a difficult player to trade without taking back salary the other team wants to shed - so that would be a net zero trade. I'm afraid the Twins are stuck with these three for 2025 so they should make the best of it by working with Cartaya to be a MLB catcher, moving Paddock to the bullpen, and having the new hitting coach work with Vasquez. I can live with the current team. I would rather see the Twins giving opportunities to their prospects than just go out and a body to appease fans.
  2. I'm amused by all these trade proposal articles. They all contain a sentence along the lines of "and that will allow the Twins to trade Vasquez and Paddock for salary relief". Who's willing to trade for them? And if anyone is willing to trade for them, what difference does this trade make? If there any teams willing to take Vasquez and Paddock, trade them now and worry about the second catcher later.
  3. My New Year's resolution is that the Twins sell the team quickly and the new owners are looking to win championships. (I know that isn't really a "resolution" but it's close enough.)
  4. I think you may have hit the nail on the head. That was my first thought also.
  5. Interesting use of the comma as the only punctuation. And with a space before each comma.
  6. What the heck? Let's just wait to see what happens before writing such silly articles.
  7. As a huge fan of union labor, I have to say quit being a shill for Karl Marx. Both sides are to blame. There is plenty of greed to go around.
  8. You tell 'em!!!! Who cares if bleacher seats cost $200?
  9. Whenever I read that someone has a compact swing, I immediately think of Paul Molitor.
  10. If I correctly decypher this poorly written sentence, I wholeheartedly agree. This is the same content I've read nearly daily since the World Series ended. By the way, who won?
  11. More poor writing? See highlights above. P.S. There should be a comma after the word "refresher" in the first sentence.
  12. If the Pohlad's had any baseball business acumen (just regarding baseball and not their other business ventures - which I have no idea what they are - I've not lived in Minnesota in over 40 years), they should look at this offseason as the time to improve the Twins in order to raise the selling price. Everyone seems to think that the current roster at $130M (I just traded Paddock for a Juan Sota autographed jersey and tickets to the Dancing with Stars finale in 2025) has enough to be a post-season participatant. If the Pohlad's opened up their purses just a little bit and brought in a RH outfielder and another strong reliever, the Twins might even make some noise in the postseason. Anyone looking to buy the Twins would see a viable postseason contender with a payroll under $150M. I would think that would look very good to a potential buyer. It's like buying a house. If I went to an open house and liked the house in general but saw green shag carpeting with holes and stains, I would offer a whole lot less than the asking price. But if the sellers had torn out the carpeting and replaced it with nice hardwood floors, I might be willing to even go above asking price.
  13. There is one thing (and only one thing) that I like about the Twins' self-imposed budget cap for 2025. It has caused the current off-season to be about as exciting as a CPA convention in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan in early February. But that has given the staff at Twins Daily the opportunity to hone their writing skills trying to find different ways for the Twins to improve, yet stay within budget. Nearly every day there is at least one article that attempts to do this. Bravo!
  14. I would love to see MLB pitchers trying to hit the strike zone that Eeles presents. He would only have to protect against pitches a few inches above and below his waist.
  15. A quick look at MiLB.com shows 2B, CF, and 1B.
  16. He sounds like someone the cost-cutting Twins should sign to play LF.
  17. I am NOT a fan of the Red Sox, but I do live in New England. The big talk out here is that the BoSox are aiming at winning it all in 2025 and that they are going all-in on acquiring Juan Soto. If that happens, I'm not sure if that would increase interest in Lopez or leave them basking in the glory of a huge signing with no interest in doing more. The BoSox leadership is nearly as weird as the Twins. They might be willing to drain the farm system in order to beat the Yankees.
  18. I have been thinking that this series of articles about possible trades is pretty much an attempt to provide non-caretakers with something to read as the first snow gets closer. Two days ago, it was trade Jax because he's so valuable and replace him with one of the very similar relievers that are abundantly available. That makes no sense. Today, it's trade Duran because he might decline in a year or two. MIGHT??? And then the article goes on to say that the best return might be a high-ranked prospect. But in order to get this "prospect", the Twins would have to also include a high-ranked prospect from their own farm system. So the trade comes down to a prospect for a prospect, but the Twins would throw in one of the top relievers in baseball who might regress? That seems to me to say that Duran ain't that valuable. I think I'll just concentrate on the crossword puzzle until something actually happens.
  19. There is an interesting contradiction in this article (if I'm reading it correctly). In the section where you outline the case for trading Jax, you say that relievers like Jax "don't grow on trees". But then continue that sentence saying that relievers of Jax caliber "can generally be plucked from other organizations fairly cheaply". If the second part is accurate, why would the Twins trade him? They should just keep him and pluck a few more relievers just like him from other teams.
  20. I'm amazed that Mercedes is just turning 20. It seems like I've read about him for over five years now. I'm looking forward to following Prielipp, Mercedes, Oliver and Canterino next summer. That should be more fun than watching the Pohlad Poor House team in Minneapolis.
  21. I think the best trade option would be trading the Pohlad family for any competent ownership.
  22. Once again, you stole my idea and posted it before I could. 😇. So let me expand that brilliant comment by adding that hard throwing (but not performing well) pitchers in the minors should also be signed (to MiLB contracts). If you sign 10 or 12 of these, maybe one or two might work out.
