  1. Interesting article. I hope Culpepper has the same fire in his belly that Ryan has.
  2. I propose the Twins trade Kepler to Detroit for assistant hitting coach, James Rowson.
  3. "obliterating the morale of an embattled fan base trapped in some sadistic groundhog's day"....That phrase is enough to make a grown man cry. Beautiful writing. Just beautiful
  4. I agree about taking one of the consensus top 5, whichever one is available. If more than 1 is available I would chose Crews, Skenes, Wyatt, Clark and Jenkins in that order. I was proposing Teel over Gonzales or Jacobs. But then I guess that is moot, since Teel won't be around for the Twins next draft selection.
  5. Plus Jeffers should have sacrifice bunted in the ninth with 1 out and the bases loaded.
  6. How about a college catcher from U. Va. who hit over .400 this year instead of another AAA SS/2B/3B utility player. The Twins are in dire need of a good catching prospect.
  7. Bases loaded, top of the ninth, 1 out, fast runner on third, Jeffers at bat, game tied 1 to 1, Duran warmed up in the bullpen. Polo, arguably the Twins best hitter over the last 2-3 years, on deck. WHY DID ROCCO NOT TELL JEFFERS TO SACRIFICE BUNT? Jeffers can bunt very well, as he has shown earlier this year. If he failed, it most likely would not have been a double play, and Polo is coming up to hit. I think this was a game losing mistake, but we will never know.
  8. The Twins must make some changes. The 4 strikeouts in the 3 and 4 batters were tough.
  9. Jeffers should have sacrifice bunted. Even if he made an out Polo would be up with 3 runners on. Only a double play would have ruined everything, which it did, Then Duran would shut the door.
  10. One must remember that at the time of the trade, the Twins needed a starting pitcher badly, but had a surplus of 2B (Polo, Julien, Lewis and Lee) and 3B (Miranda, Lee and Lewis), 1B (Kirilloff , Miranda and added Gallo) and lefthanded hitting left fielders (Kirilloff and Wallner), also Farmer, Gordon, Castro and Salano at utility. Buck has had to be the DH for over 90% of the time. 1B defense has been excellent with Gallo and Kirilloff. The Twins defense has been much improved with Gallo and Kirilloff at 1B, Taylor in CF instead of Gordon or Celestino or Kepler and Lewis's fielding is an improvement over Miranda or Arraez. Polo has been good at 2B this year, when he has played. Luis would weaken the defense at any position (except DH) he played for the 2023 Twins. So I ask, where would Luis Arraez play in 2023 and 2024 for the Twins?
  11. Darwin, Everyone of your points were my thoughts too. This is a little scary.
  12. Thanks Matt. Great article. However I vote for Zebby Mathews for top starting pitcher in May. His strikeout rate is most impressive, as are the rest of his numbers. He only walked 2 batters.
  13. Correa is the best fielding SS I have ever seen in my 65 years of watching and playing baseball. Period. That fits my definition of a superstar SS, the most important fielding position on a baseball team.
  14. Great response Jish. Your proposal had me at "Hello".
  15. Really interesting article Jish. Well reasoned thought process. I too would not want the Twins to draft anyone other than one of the consensus top 5 draft prospects. But I submit that Crews and Langford and Skenes offer the most immediate help, out of the top 5. From what I have read ("All I know is what I read in the newspapers" Will Rogers) I believe that Skenes is the draft prospect who will be a true ace in the major leagues. I am a firm believer in emphasizing pitching. This year for the Twins has proven that defense and hitting have important places in the formular for winning. Having said all this, I hope the Twins draft Paul Skenes. I'll take that risk, but then, my job does not depend on it.
