I would take the Twins relief pitchers over the Astros' relievers. I realize this article is about the starters, however the relievers will be pitching 30% to 35% of the innings, even if the starters are going 6 innings. I also think the curse of the trash can will be a factor, even though the Astros will try to use the unending questions and the clever taunts to motivate themselves.

And Luke Raley.

This reminds me of a story in my picture book when I was a little boy. It was about a lady who was afraid to walk down the basement stairs because an axe was hanging beside the stairs on the wall. She was worried "What if the axe falls." Injuries happen. For the most part they are unpredictable. One of the many things I like about this Twins organization is that there are capable replacements at every position.

The Twins are fortunate to have the returning retired players. They all apear to be class acts. I hope someday, Every-Day Eddie will be a returning player who gives instruction at Spring Training like LaTroy, Torii, Justin, Michael, Tony and Rod. (Who did I leave out?)

I also like the fact that Lewis worked out this off season with Torii Hunter and Torii Jr. and Matt Kemp.

Hi. My name is David. I am a Twins fan. I was born in Washington, DC before the Twins were a gleam in Calvin Griffith's eye. I moved to North Carolina in 1950. I became a Washington Senators fan in 1953, because my grandfather took me to a Senators/Tigers game at old Griffith Stadium. The Senators lost. Imagine that. . I moved my loyalties to Minnesota when then Senators moved to Minnesota. I lived, and still live, in Statesville, North Carolina, 40 miles north of Charlotte, which was a Senators/Twins' farm team for years. Now Charlotte has gone to the dogs and is a White Sox farm team. I visited lovely Minneapolis in the summers of 1987 and 1988 to visit my Statesville friend, Mark Davidson, a Twins outfielder. The July weather was amazing. The fans were very friendly. I have red hair and was amazed to see so many red-headed people. I had the best steak I have ever eaten at a restaurant downtown. 4 years ago I started going to Ft Myers each spring for spring training. I am sad to say we had to cancel this year because my wife got shingles and the trip would be too difficult for her. We'll be there next year. By the way, does anyone want 2 tickets to the first 4 home spring training games this year.? Nick, Thanks for a concise summary of the most productive off season I have ever witnessed as a Twins' fan. I read that before one season, Dean Smith put up a picture of the incoming Tar Heel basketball team winning the national championship in the arena in which it was scheduled to be played in March at the end of the season, so the players could visualize that happening. And it did happen. It is my hope that the Twins will, from day one of spring training, visualize winning the World Series in 2020.

When someone apologizes, the person being apologized to, has 2 choices: 1) accept the apology or 2) don't accept it. I have tended to accept, rather than analyze, apologies during my life and that works better for me. I, for one, accept Marwin's apology and am ready to move on. If Cora or Bregman or Hinch or Beltran apologized, I would feel the same way. My father taught me that when I did something wrong, man up and admit it and apologize. That's what Marwin did. It's very difficult to do that, especially when there is a close bond between a group who did something wrong.

Looks like the prospects balanced out (though the Twins got the younger one), the Twins lost Grateral but got a middle of the staff starter with a team friendly contract plus $10 million dollars and lost a draft pick. Under the circumstances, I'd say this was a better trade than what the Twins originally agreed to.

Good point about the 40 man roster. I was remembering seeing Raley hitting some long balls in spring training last year. Not a very large sample size, I know.

I may be the only one, but I dread losing Raley as much as losing Graterol. Raley is a masher and can field and run.

My wife and I have had to cancel our annual trip to Ft. Myers this year due to health problems. We have 2 tickets to each of the first 4 home games: Home opener with the Blue Jays, The Red Sox, the Phillies and a second game with the Red Sox. The seats are all on the 3rd base side in the lowest level, most near an aisle and most near the top of the lower level, so not much stairs to walk up and down.
