  1. Now let's do 10 questions about pitchers, the most unpredictable position. 1) Can Berrios be a a league leading "Ace" for this short season? 2) Will Hill successfully pitch the whole short season? 3) Will Pineda's suspension start when the games start? 4) Can Taylor Rogers continue his dominance as a lefty closer? 5) Will Jake O. continue his success with the high fastball or will the batters adjust? 6) Who will be the 5th starter? 7) Will May have a monster season? 8) Can Duffy be dominant again this year? 9) Which rookie pitcher will become a successful starter for the Twins? 10) Will Bert Blyleven come out of retirement to start the first game of the World Series?
  2. I really appreciate all of the writers, the owners and contributors. Even though I live in North Carolina, and get little coverage about any teams (other than the loser of the 1991 World Series), I can be fully informed about my beloved Twins, thanks to TD, Thank you all for this wonderful family of decent people who love the Twins.
  3. I always enjoy seeing a smiling Mark Davidson in the middle of the pile of the 87 CHAMPS !
  4. Obviously you are correct. He can't pitch.
  5. Mike, I never knew Tris Speaker and Al Simmons played with the Senators. I'm sorry to say this, but I doubted you... and looked it up. I'm not worthy. And Coveleski...I never heard of him. He was HOF. I'm not worthy. I really enjoyed your post. I'm not worthy.
  6. Good article about a good player who is a good man.
  7. Mike, Sorry about your work. We're all in this together. I was saying this to my clients before Ring Central's ads started popping up on my screen. But no matter who coined this phrase, I feel in many ways it applies to all of the Twins Daily family. I'm glad we have this website.
  8. On a different note, Kenta Maeda may be impacted financially, due to his contract having such a low base salary and millions in various achievement-based incentives.
  9. Interesting article. On an individual player level, a short season will financially hurt those players whose contracts are incentive laden, like Kenta Maeda.
  10. I still hate the Yankees.
  11. Question: Were all these pitchers listed shut down as soon as they were drafted for the remainder of the year or did some of them go on to pitch some professionally in the year they were drafted?
  12. Maybe more velo in pitches means more velo in hits also, which leads to to more HR's.
  13. I'd trade the signed baseball for the time actually spent with Rapid Robert Feller. Wow. What a thrill that was for you. I remember pitching baseball in the back yard with a guy from my hometown named Gair Allie, who was on the Pirates for a year or two. Huge thrill. (But I understand that you would still like to have the baseball signed by Bob Feller. Me too.)
  14. How about the 1954 Cleveland Indians? Early Wynn, Mike Garcia, Bob Lemon, Art Houtteman and Bob Feller were the starters and Hal Newhouser, Don Mossi and Ray Narleski were the main relievers.
  15. Very interesting article and discussion. Thanks.
  16. Signing Donaldson made it easier for Sano to move to 1B. By that I mean Sano was probably more willing to give up 3B so that Donaldson could play there, than Sano would have been willing to give up 3B for a "fill-in". This way Sano is not moved to first base because he is a poor fielder at 3B , but rather because Donaldson is a better firelder than Sano at 3B. Psychologically the move to 3B was easier for Sano under these circumstances and there should be no hesitation from Sano about making this move.
  17. If Polanco and Arraez are controlable through 2025, where does that leave Lewis?
  18. There will be injuries. Next man up. Charge.
  19. I have confidence that the 2019 and 2020 Twins have something special going on as a team. There are up to date training and data retrieval systems in place. There are encouraging signs that the coaches are able to help players achieve improvement. The veterans are also teachers, as well as innovators themselves. Plus I do not ever recall so many Twins' players being interviewed, saying that the goal is to win the World Series. That generates positive energy, when all individuals are working together for a common team goal. When one player is injured, I fully expect another to step up and take the injured player's place.
