    Better the devil you know...hence start with SonnyG. If we do sign him there will need to be compromise between SonnyG and the Twins; $$s vs Term. I know he will most likely not be sub 3.00 ERA over the term of the contract, but I think he can be 3.00-3.3333333333ERA and that's a good pitcher, if the Price is Right. If SonnyG wants longer term, average annual value (AAV) goes down. If SonnyG wants $$s, (yes I know he said it wasn't all about $$s), then term is shorter. Our FO is creative if nothing else. Alway hesitant to jump into the FA SP market. Most do not end up like Mad Max did with the Curly Ws in DC or how Garret Cole so far is doing in the Ugly PinStripes. 😆 Trevor Bauer - great talent but questionable teammate. I mean if he was really cheap, maybe but I would get a consensus from key teammates before making a deal for TB. I don't know enough about our minor league talent so can't make any suggestions there. But personally I think it starts with SonnyG.

    I agree we should keep these guys for sure, unless we can get greater value in return. Highly unlikely of course but i just wanted to indicate that the FO should always look to improve the team.

    Might be the best thing I've heard out of Gladden, (not Fire Dan Gladden...it's a poke at the real one), in forever... 😁 I like the idea, above average for the first 2 years and option years the guarantee on certain goals. In fact their could be bonuses attached to those goals as well ala Buxton's contract. (I'm catching the San Diego Chicken and sacrificing him to the Baseball Gods that Buxton can have a healthy season). The one thing I've noticed is the Twins current FO is not averse to creativity when it comes to contracts.

    I suspect the Twins are open to trading just about anyone if its the right deal. No one should be considered un-tradable. That said, there are several players, GS Lewis for example, that we need to have our socks knocked off. I think we are past the time where we, The Twins, unloaded players just to save salary or before they become a FA. Now we can move people, like we did with Arraez last year, to make our team better. I like our depth, but we have depth behind our depth at the moment, that can allow us to move some pieces to improve out club.

    Not talking specifics really at this point because there are many moving parts. But that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. 😁 First, depth is an absolute must have. 162 games is a long season but we want is a long post season. For that to happen you have to make it through the regular season anticipating you will deal with injuries, but hopefully the 10day or 15day variety and not the 60day to out for the season variety. This allows you to get your players healthy again. But the depth the Twins have extends to the minors. Ober went to the minors yet pitched very well when called up. We have upcoming players at AA and AAA that can step in short term when needed. OR Be traded out for the more impact pieces that will help in the post season. So far, I have seen the FO make some very good decisions. Not all have panned out but the ones that have panned out have panned out in a big way. So, I would like to see us keep as much as we have and then when target a piece that will push us to the next level bundle some assets together to get it, but not strip the farm. Long term viability.

    Gotcha. Read a great article on The Athletic about Gray really liking MN and what MN is doing but will field offers. I'd be concerned about the years as well. He is 34, I'd be OK with 3 years not 5 and nervous about 4.

    I think Buxton's knee determines Taylor (or facsimile) being brought on. I would try to retain Gray, aside from the Playoff regression, he was a bulldog and hit the mound on schedule. Pagan - I think is finally showing what the Twins saw in him. We can lose Maeda and/or Gray with Ober, Paddock (and maybe Mahle) in the wings. I don't want to lose Gray but I am not going overpay. This offseason is going to be a key to continuing the reworking of the image of the Twins truly want to win. Lopez, C4, Buxton and I think I missing someone, shows that the Twins have started moving in that direction. Again, I really want to know what is going on with Buxton's knee and AK-19's shoulder. Excited to see Royce, perhaps Brooks Lee, Eduardo, C4, AK-19, play a full season together. Also, Kepler if he can keep up what he adjusted this year, plus Wallner and Buxton/Taylor/Larnach/Stevenson Not to mention Austin Martin and Yunior Severino. I do not like we lost, let alone to the Astros, but we are set up much much better than we have been in decades to improve.

    Loved LA's ability to hit the ball anywhere at any time. I was mixed on PL, but have since come on board. Win/Win. If SG leaves via FA, then Twins still have a proven guy at the top of the staff with Ryan learning more and more every day and Ober becoming that guy who defies the norms in baseball. I am content and would do this again given the results we have. FootNote: Loving what Royce is doing.

    This was probably those most no brainer of articles I have seen in a long while. Not that the point shouldn't be considered, but it is gosh darn dang it good problem to have. Pick up the option. If needed, the TwinsFO has multiple positions of strength to deal from. I look at we have in the pipeline, what we have on the roster and the Tweeners who are on the roster and on the Saints sometimes it feels like at the same time, (j/k), and we have done some good drafting. Of course, I want a pitcher or three in our pipeline that is forecasted to be the number 1 guy. Who doesn't it? Oh yeay, JerryR of the ChiSox...LOL. This team is stacked moving forward in many of the positions. I would welcome Sony Gray and Kenta Maeda back on contracts. It seems only last year we didn't have pitching and enough hitting. This may not be the year we break the playoff series win drought, but we will in the next 2-3 years advance to the championship series.

    You know what I like about most of these trade comments... LOL Not much. Too short sighted. That said, if the hitters were average in most of the key situations, the Twins would be running away in the Central. We, Twins Daily, collectively bitched about the the pitching staff and yet the starting pitching is at the top of the majors. We also complained about the catcher's defense, we are at the top in that category too. We are being bit by the injury bug again as well. it's a LONG season, trade deadline is way off still. But, like someone else said, I am not trading our prospects for some veteran rentals that are at the edge of uncertainty. I do like the idea of Soto and Ohtani ONLY because it is something the Twins would NEVER ever consider. But I am not trading all of our prospects for either player who is absolutely leaving during FA. My prediction. By July 4th the Twins will be leading the division by 6-8 games.

    I wondered, over the past few years, about what the hitting coach brings to the table. Yet this year Jeffers has improved. The bigger names have all dipped, C4, BB, etc... But like Sano, we can't put Kepler's hitting woes on the hitting coach. I want our Bomba Squad hitting coach back...but he has moved up the managing chain and there is no way that is happening. So my verdict on this is that the onus lies on the hitters to get there $h1t together AND the hitting coach to figure out how to get them there

    I agree, and I take nothing away from the Guardians and their team. They have some talent, but I am on record as saying, if the Twins simply regress to the norm for injuries and Games/WAR lost due to injuries, they run away with the division. I think the additions they have made have been quality to top notch. I think the top caliber talent can take steps forward, (especially the pitching staff and the young team members. We will know if I am right come the end of summer. LOL Let's PLAY BALL.

    Simply the fact that we are not penciling in Dylan Bundy and Chris Archer as our 3/4 starters tells you a lot about the changes from last season to this season. The up the middle defense should be very good, the outfield should be top 3 at worst and we have two very good hitters and with unknown ful season fielding at the two-infield corner positions. I like the makeup of this team a lot. Sure, there is some uncertainty with Maeda/Mahle/Lopez and yes Pagan as well as some health uncertainty with the position players. I don't care what the prediction sites are saying, this team is winning the Central easily if they regress back to the norm when it comes to WAR lost due to injuries.

    And the Mets don't care how much they spend, and it appears the Friars of San Diego don't care how much they spend. Even if the Twins were seriously interested, as this past off season showed with C4, we cannot compete spending with the Big Bucks teams.
