Which Twins Players Shrunk the Most This Winter?

I think the pipeline was transformed. It won't do any good if they regress to Old Ways. Now about the hitter pipeline. And for the Love of the Hamm's Bear, teach, preach and demand defensive. You may be limited talent-wise, (the 80s, 90s and 00s certainly were), but defensively they weren't making fundamental mistakes. Piranhas 2.0 need to become a thing.

" .199/.267/.276 (.543) with 26 doubles, two triples, and five home runs. " Cleveland, Detroit, KC and Chicago just gave the Twins the Central Crown. NOTE: do you know there is a Snark Mark like a question mark but for snarky statements? I NEED one. Consider several Snark Marks inserted. He is BELOW the Mendoza Line for a Career. Oh yeah, I get it now. The Twins have a history of developing hitters at the MLB level like Julien, and Lewis in the past 2 years and before that Sano. They are sucking all the Optimism out of my soul

Underrated? I don't know what that means. Underrated by whom? I think recently the Twins have done a good job of developing pitchers. I think the farm system does not impinge hitters, make them worse. The farm system does NOT do enough on fielding and defense. The job with pitchers means I am OK with the pitching acquisitions But it will be improved hitting and improved defense that will take this team anywhere in 2026. Regime change in managing helps provide a sliver of optimism. But whatever happened to the Twins Way, the Piranhas and team that focused on defense, base running and other things that can be taught and does not solely rely on Talent.

And the Twins have been OH SOOOOO GOOD at fixing hitters... But are these hitters the Top Bargains? Perhaps with airline miles, or bonus check for your local Subway card.

Quibble all you want, going 7-3, (70%), because you came to bat (mainly) in big situations meant you delivered. Buxton went 4-1, (80%) Luke (the Force) (100%) Not bad

In general, I agree. Only time I may not follow this if I have a chance to get a what I am considering as a Franchise prospect...but even then I would need to be blown out of the water. For example, let's say Walker Jenkins was available, (I avoided any college draftees on purpose) and you have a chance to get him. Then maybe I would blow more on the one egg versus trying to get many eggs in the basket. Good work Seth.

Ding Ding Ding. (no reason, just need to wake up) Herein lies the KEY to the Twins success this year AND moving forward. Can the coaches IMPROVE the Twin's hitters and STOP degradating them to Low A level. Ideal Angle is just single data point. It will probably produce great results... If everything is right or near right. If you are busy, (feet/hands/head) you are most not likely going to be able to Ideal Angle. NOTE: This applies only to RH hitters because lefties are never Right.

Minnesota Twins Roster Project and Organizational Depth
EGFTShaw replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Nice 12-6 curve of a question Bert. :) Still one of the most beautiful curve balls I've ever seen. I saw a video of Greg Maddux 2-seamer that just was nasty yesterday. I think Winokur is the TALLLLLLLL SS/OF at AA Am I right or should I wait for caffeine to have kicked in before commenting.- 81 replies

I laughed at your post, but it was more my ****** mood and total disbelief the Pohlads can change. 40 years of the same old baloney. I love your optimism and that is where I normally sit.

Given the hypothetical nature of this post, I am going to be more Santa than Grinch. There is a world, but it has its rules. Minor league contract Weight restrictions A well mapped out plan for improvement of his hitting. (Spoiler: Grinch here, "Like the Twins have shown to be the hitting coaches of the Universe"). Despite what the Grinch is saying maybe new staff can do for hitters what they have been doing with the pitching...coax the talent to the surface and provide opportunities to succeed. So far, the Twin's hitting pipeline has struck out. Rewards for meeting certain levels of performance INCLUDING weight goals. Be willing to spend countless, (ok in the analytics world we live in someone will watch the tape and count. For proper context someone watched all the episodes of Schitt's Creek to find out that Alexa said "Eew David" only 4 times. See what anal-ytics we have become as a society. Oh, wait back to my thought) hours of repetitive work as first base and hitting. There is talent buried in the massive body. 5 Gold βs for the coach or coaches who can release it. That said, it ain't happening because as Yogi once said, "it ain't over until the fat body swings"

Per Usual the Twins fans are thankful for an article they can be 110% pessimistic about and get ready for extra coal in their stockings. Contending in the Central does not require a team that can win a playoff series. That's just the way it is. If Tigers trade their ACE, then they take a step backwards and quite frankly they weren't that many steps in front to begin with. The key is NOT so much who the Twins bring in as much as it is about what the coaching can do about the hitting and the fielding. I think the fielding can be corrected and made more of a positive. The hitting should be able to move towards the positive as well because it was horrible by many who should be and have shown to be better hitters. It does start with Ryan and Lopez though. And the starters that were discussed about going to the bullpen, bring them and see what they can do. Varland, Duran, and others have been thought to be starters and transitioned well. Prielipp is going to be the wild card. His stuff says starter His body has said RP so far. Festa has his thoracic outlet syndrome is also a bit of wild card. He didn't have surgery but the uncertainty of the botox fixing the issue is still iffy. I have no idea what the Twins have done to or for Marco Raya. But you have these three plus the 3 pitchers acquired to look to for BP help. So, win total: (shakes Magic 8 Ball) 78rpms

They can just invest into payroll 50% of the revenue sharing schemes MLB pays out to the teams. It is estimated they received $210-$215M this past year. It is their choice of course to decide what to do with this bonus money, just don't pretend you care about winning if you keep it all to yourselfish Pohlads.
-
There is a difference between playing the young guns because you are trying to work them in to the Big Show and HAVING to play the young guns because you gutted the team and refused to build upon a winner. I look forward to the young guns, but the piss poor planning of the owners doesn't go unnoticed, and they still should be rake over the coals. Pohlads are cheap cheap cheap. I quoted something wrong in another post, but they still received around $210-$215M in 2024 for the revenue sharing machines and CUT payroll after winning their first series since before some of the current players were born.

So, it is Almost Thanksgiving with Christmas just around the corner. Let's just give the Pohlads the gift of Ire this season. From Ralph_MasonJr on X "Reminder that every MLB team/owner gets a 200M check annually from MLB for revenue sharing, which doesnβt even include their gate/ticket sales " My gift to Twins Fans, apologies for the pasted Font SIZE. So, the Pohlads CLAIM can't boost payroll, to quote several TV characters before swearing was allowed, cable and streaming services: "Poppycock" "Horse Hockey" "Holy Crap on a Cracker" (OK this one came sort of recently) "Holy Dental Hygiene Batman" WTF - they quibble over $10-$30M during the past 2 seasons and they get $200M/year in revenue sharing off the top for simply being Owners. So, we win our first playoff series since the time of Lake Agassiz, and they CUT payroll because we are small market team and can't afford it, (translation: we want to keep our $200M bec...well we are the owners and don't have to explain it to you pathetic...er...loyal fans) when they have the means to push the Twins to the next level? MotherZuckers... [EDIT] PS - in case your undies aren't in a bundle yet: From DiamondCentric: "They receive 3.3% of the aggregated local revenues, and another roughly $90 million for their 1/30th share of national revenues" So that is $290M and can't afford to keep the payroll at $157M so we HAD to slash $25-$30M. Double MotherZuckers The Hamm's Bear could manage the payroll better than the PoorhLads

This feels more like an article to generate engagement. There is no way in all the lakes in Minnesota, or the Hamm's Bear or Paul Bunyon and Babe the Blue Ox I make this trade or even consider it as it is crafted here. If Ryan is leaving the Twins roster, he better bring back a significant haul. Very similar with Pablo. As much as the Twins crashed and burned, TWICE, there is good players here. Relief pitching: at this time is more like the sale bin Blue Light Special from KMart. Starting Pitching: Ryan and Lopez. Both teetering on the next step to up the pitching ranking ladder. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, if we can get our players not named Buxton, to HIT and the players not named Buxton to play defense and the fact they are in the Central Division, there is always hope. Big IFFs and so far they have led to Big WHIFFSSsss.

I am selling LOW on the Pohlads rebuilding. I think they are trying to make the books look good to any potential buyers. Am I a cynical MN fan? π
