  1. It doesn't matter what Varland wants. The Twins own his rights and if they want him to move to the pen his only choices are accepting it or retiring. Louie could probably be a shut down closer or 8th inning guy if he put his mind to it.
  2. Courage? I'm sort of confused here. Let's try this one. If Joe Mauer played his entire career at 1st base would he be in the HOF?
  3. Of course Boras wants Lewis to stay at third. If he can stay healthy and keep hitting bombs he will be in for a large contract. Then after a year he can pull a Mauer and become the Twins DH.
  4. I tend to agree. The Twins have a bunch of young middle infielders coming that could easily become super utility players like Castro. Let 2025 play out and then go from there.
  5. Zebby Matthews second start was not terrible if you looked at the box score. He gave up 5 runs in the first inning and then put up 4 innings after that and didn't give up any more runs. That's a sign of a good pitcher that can work past a bad inning and not let it get to him. I would prefer to see Zebby stay in St Paul the rest of the year and be in a great position t battle for a starting role in 2025.
  6. You do know that the roster doesn't expand in September like it used to? The roster only gets expanded to 28.
  7. You are also missing one more point. Dobnak can refuse being sent to St Paul but he would lose all the guaranteed money. He could have done that right away but when he was hurt there's no way he would ever earn that kind of money. Just like the 3 million due next year and the buyouts for the next 3 years.
  8. Maybe go back and read one more time. In 2026 he is due 6 million with a 1 million buyout and in 2027 & 2028 100K. Try looking up things on baseball reference.
  9. Why would any team pay a player 5 million if they are still in the minors when they can pay just 1 million to save 4 million.
  10. Dobnak was a good story and I wish he could make it back to the majors. He is putting up decent numbers for St Paul. It's a whole different ball game in the majors. Unless he can come up with some new pitch he is stuck in AAA. He can't blow hitters away and in the majors they would pick him apart.
  11. You forgot to add the buyouts on the years. No buyout in 2025, 2026 1M buyout, 2027 100K, 2028 100K. So basically the first day they can buy him out in 2026 they cut him a check and he drives off into the sunset. He will be happy and we know he's smart with the money.
  12. He's behind Varland and Zebby Matthews in St Paul for starters to get promoted. If any MLB team asked about him the Twins would let them have him as long as they paid the entire contract. Probably wouldn't even ask for anything in return.
  13. MLB is giving the Twins 15M. There should have been a stipulation that they had to use it or lose it. Whether it was towards a traded players contract or an extension for a player. We all know the Twins will trade for a back of the rotation starter and pocket 12M.
  14. Exactly, you don't trade away top prospects for rentals. If they can find another Pablo Lopez type of deal I would be fine with that. Any player they trade for and give up top prospects for better be under contract for at least 2 years after this season.
  15. I sure hope AI came up with this trash. Why would the Twins be thinking about trading Matt Wallner right now? The rest of the list combined wouldn't get you back a player that would be able to help in the majors this season. A bad idea would for the Twins to go shopping for players they can't control beyond this season. Too many injuries and too many holes to be considered a playoff threat.
  16. Do any Twins fans view this as a World Series contender? I'm sadly happy that they make the playoffs and get out of the first round. Take all the injuries and the Twins need more than a starting pitcher to be any kind of threat. So are you ready to trade away all your top prospects for a few players? Not me.
  17. With all the days off in the playoffs a team really only needs 3 starters until like the ALCS if they make it that far.
  18. I would give LA a call 1.5M is cheap for the rest of the year. You would think they would be looking for a lottery ticket in return.
  19. 5 tool player is such a dumb statistic when you think about it. Teams seem to ignore the speed part the most. I would love to see more small ball. Players that know how to run the bases and can actually laydown a bunt for a hit. Such a lost art and if a team would exploit it they could dominate since most catchers are terrible at throwing out runners. along with pitchers knowing how to hold runners as well.
  20. How about the next post can be about Ron Coomer. Or should I say All-Star Ron Coomer.
  21. Varland looks washed as a starter. Drop him to the pen and let him know he's got 20 pitches a night and give them hell.
  22. How would this even be possible now? Jax is probably throwing like 20 pitches a game at tops and how could you stretch him out during the season and not weaken your pen at the same time? Even if they did it next season he would have an innings limit and what happens when he reaches it? They tried it with Varland and the results aren't there. It sucks for them because the bigger money is as a starter over being a set up guy.
  23. Never should a team be purely focusing on a position to draft a player. A team should always be taking the best available players.
  24. I know t's early in June, but have you looked at how many games the Twins are behind Cleveland at the moment?
