  1. They have many young pitchers in St Paul. So he will be taking opportunities from players. Just pay him his money and let him go.
  2. Boras won't allow the Twins to make him the DH until he gets paid. And there's little to no chance that Boras would allow him to sign an extension now and that he will test free agency. I always said 1st base is where he belongs with his poor throws and average defense at 3rd. I can see him not wanting to play 2b. The best thing would be if he would buy into being the DH if he continues to struggle in the field.
  3. There are 7.5m reasons Paddack will make the rotation. They most likely tried trading him and nobody would bite on it. I would guess most teams will wait until he gets released and possibly give him a shot.
  4. Just rip the band aid off and pay Randy to go away. There's no point on him taking up a roster spot.
  5. Harrison Bader is a "master" in the OF. The bat is a ways behind.
  6. If there is a higher bidder there's nothing stopping them from backing out.
  7. I don't think they really had interest in the Twins. I think they were using MN to try to get more leverage in Chicago.
  8. What I dont understand is if all France could get is 1 million why wasn't he just signed to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training? On the bright side nobody will complain about it when he's released in early May.
  9. The solution is something we don't want to think about. It will be a lockout/strike in 2027 I believe. I just hope they don't lose the whole season. But they need to fix this nonsense. The Dodgers can't just buy everyone. Granted that doesn't guarantee a championship.
  10. All 3 trades are trash. No way any team especially the Twins should give up any of those packages for a rental pitcher. And don't forget this is a pitcher from San Diego, they seem to deal a guy and then he ends up getting hurt right away. The master of dealing damaged goods.
  11. The current lease on Target Field is through 2039 and they are trying to add another 20 years onto that now. So that keeps the team a little safe from the threat of moving. I'm sure there is some fine print in there how they could break the lease.
  12. Paddock should be dealt regardless of the ownership or payroll limitations. I have no problem with them not signing any "top tier free agents" and waiting for the right time to pounce on players looking for a deal before Spring Training. If they are selling the team, make a few decent signings to improve the club. The new ownership will be flipping the bill anyways.
  13. There's no reason to dumpster dive yet. I would rather see them wait until the week or so before Spring Training and add some bargains. Unless they put up some money right now there's really no rush.
  14. They have too many left handed bats in the OF with Larnach & Wallner. What would be the point of Kepler to remain? Pay him 8-10M when you have to younger bats that have not reached arbitration yet? Good luck to Kepler in Philly. Hopefully he can handle left. Because we knew he didn't want to play CF.
  15. What trade value did Kepler have? And if he was traded you would have complained the Twins did him wrong by trading him.
  16. Clearing his contract off the books is a plus for starters. His health has been pretty much an issue since day 1. Having a 120-130M payroll it makes no sense to pay 1 player 36M. Then factor in his age and his health and after another year the contract could be immovable. It was a move made before they lost their tv deal and if they are entertaining selling the team why keep him. And please no comments that he's a good clubhouse guy or a mentor to the young guys. You weren't in the clubhouse or in any way with the team.
  17. With his injury history there's no reason to even consider an extension. He cannot become a free agent until 2029 and a lot can happen in that time. Look at the Buxton contract and tell me they would still do it if they got a "do over".
  18. Where did you get your information from? https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/ Suns 217M top team, MN 203M second team. That's 14M last I tried to do math in my head. Detroit has the lowest payroll at 130M, I was off by like 20M. Please delete your post and next time do a little work looking at the numbers before throwing out false information.
  19. And don't forget the Pohlad's bought the team so it didn't end up in Tampa Bay.
  20. There is way more money in NBA games than MLB games. You can't compare the 2 sports. There is no NYY or LAD in the NBA. All teams are probably within 60M to the highest priced team, give or take. And that's for 14 players and not 26.
  21. Just how many lakes are there in Los Angeles by the way and how popular is Jazz music in Utah...
  22. Don't let the little thing about him being part owner in a soccer team in Nashville scare you? Nashville is probably the next in line if there would be expansion or any other team moving (White Sox)
  23. Let's compromise and say they target a payroll in the range of 150-170M. Nobody would complain about that. And "if" they are in need of a big trade or signing to put them over the top these potential owners wouldn't hesitate to spend the money.
  24. That's where his brother comes in most likely as a minority owner. To be honest I would be happy with a 150-160M payroll. You build the team the right way and flip assets to keep the cycle going. There's no way any new owner spends like LA or NY. They can only do it because of their massive TV deals.
