  1. You trade him if you get value in return. He has many years of team control which increases his value. Just think where the Twins would be now if they didn't trade Arraez for Pablo Lopez. No pitching at all and another player without a true position.
  2. Kind of like when the Twins paid Mauer all that money.
  3. They will add some players to the roster in mid to late January and into February. It's no secret that they are trying to make their off season moves by trading some players away and after that they will go dumpster diving and hopefully they can find some decent veterans for the team.
  4. Why not? We are not division rivals or rivals of any kind. You make a trade that helps your team out. If Houston got an offer they liked they would do it. I doubt they would trade with Texas.
  5. None of those trades look good. The trade target should be Chaz McCormick if Houston is willing to trade him.
  6. Unless your team doesn't caring about winning the upcoming season it's pretty hard to hide a pitcher in the bullpen all season or a batter on the bench unless he's a speed guy. With starters barely going 6 innings any more your bullpen has to work more innings and like I said earlier it's hard to just stash a guy all year on the roster.
  7. Stop smoking crack please. Hopefully MN can start selling legal weed so you can come down a few notches.
  8. Zero chance he signs with the Twins. He can easily sign a 1 year 20M contract or a 3 year 55-60M contract on the market now. I would love to see Hoskins in MN and unless they all of the sudden find a bunch of money under the couch cushions I can't see it happening.
  9. You can reuse this story every year until his contract is over or he is forced to retire do to injuries.
  10. Unless Tampa is blown away why would they trade him when he still has 4 years left of team control. If they were willing to trade him I might actually be a little shy because they usually don't trade away young players this early.
  11. So what does that mean? That he pitches 17 games and gets hurt again or the Twins release him or trade him? Your 17 games for 100 innings is almost 6 innings a start. Very odd comment that doesn't explain why he only pitches that much in 2024.
  12. I'm happy winning the AL Central and a playoff series in 2024. We can look at your list of 7 things and if 1 of them does not work out they are screwed. The Twins don't have the prospect depth to pull off a major trade now and another during the season if needed.
  13. No chance at all for this to be a Championship team. Winning the AL Central sadly is the goal for the last 30+ years. The Twins would have to get extremely lucky with like 4-5 rookies that magically become studs out of no where to even have a small chance.
  14. You can get lucky finding a pitcher in late January or early February. It wouldn't hurt to add some depth.
  15. It would be great if the Twins didn't have payroll issues. I have always thought Duran would be used in the "Andrew Miller role" come in and shut the opposing teams top hitters in the 6,7, or 8th to shut them down. That would mean they would need to find another closer. Varland would be great if they could keep him in the pen. Not sure he has enough pitches to be an effective starter. He has surely looked good in the pen.
  16. There are no free agents in the Twins price range that can replace Gray. The only way to replace Gray is to make a trade. If that means trading someone like Brooks Lee it must be done. I don't want to see Lee traded but the Twins won't spend money so trades are the only way. All I hope is that they can acquire a young talented arm that would have at minimum 3 years of team control. That will be a tall order since teams shouldn't be trading valuable starters away.
  17. Sandy Alcantara will miss all of 2024. Great talent for sure but I can't see the Twins paying a guy 9.3M to not play in 2024. It could be a great idea if the Twins weren't so cheap.
  18. Keller would easily be the second best pitcher in MN. And if Pittsburgh took that weak offer it would make it even a better trade.
  19. Very smart for mid tier players to sign as soon as possible and before all big name free agents sign and take all the money.
  20. That means you would have to stash him in the bullpen all season. So can a contending team or at least a team hoping to contend afford to basically play with an arm short?
  21. That Pirates trade is like missing 2 players from MN going along with the 3. No way they give up Keller for that package alone. I actually really like the OF included in the deal. So that trade is way too light on the MN end. I would rather pay MAT $10M than give Bader $7M. Matt Moore could be a nice addition to the pen. Hoskins will most likely be able to land a 3-4 year deal this offseason.
  22. Comparing Mauer to Molina is just dumb. Molina spent his entire career behind the plate. Joe will get in to the HOF in time. He was never a great defensive catcher and his arm was always a question with low catch stealing numbers. You can blame some of that on the pitchers of course. He won 3 gold gloves but that was when it was more of a popularity contest than anything else. Rafael Palmeiro won a gold glove in 1999 playing 1st base in 28 games and DH the rest.
  23. Compensation depends on the money in the deal. I think it had to be over like 50M to get a pick after the 1st round back. Another under 50 and it's a pick after the 2nd round. If the Twins offer Maeda a QO he may not have got any offers that were close to what he got and he would have accepted the QO.
  24. Detroit is not a good team or a good city. So they have to overpay players. So does MN.
  25. He would be a good trade candidate. But why would the Angels trade him with I think 3 years of team control? They are also not swimming in starting pitching either. If Kepler could be somehow used in a deal it could be a good deal.
