  1. No. People just keep listing players they hope are available. But if we look at the off season trade market, top starting pitchers aren't traded that often. About 0-3 a year......
  2. uh, the white sox. Unless you think filling 3-5 of your holes with new players isn't moving forward. And the Angels, and he Yankees. It isn't just about winning a division.
  3. I'd look at the last two trade deadlines, and the lack of action this year, and ask to be traded. Professional athletes are competitors unlike most others on the planet. They have to be to rise to the top of the pack like they do. I'm guessing there are some unhappy players in MN now (guessing being the key word, of course). This looks exactly like when Torii and Johan said the future never comes.
  4. If you stand still while everyone else moves forward.....
  5. The Mets aren't trading Thor, not unless Buxton and / or Sano are in the deal, plus prospects.
  6. It's more than 10 million a year more, for a less healthy guy.....it's a way worse risk. Way worse.
  7. Uh, they spent that money on other players.......like Corbin. They did nothing of the sort of "going all out". Not even close.
  8. Because he misjudged teh market, I'd guess. He's got to be kicking himself for not taking a shot at 4-5 years at 18-22 million per. kicking himself.
  9. Why would Odo sign here? We are told FAs don't want to come here....why would he want to stay?
  10. They passed on just spending money...... And not prospects. But sure, if they suddenly trade for a great pitcher, things can turn around. You think they will?
  11. MLB had it's seventeenth straight year of record revenues this year......
  12. The Royals have drafted terribly. They aren't this bad because of a few trades. If they still had those players, they probably aren't great right now anyway. Is that better?
  13. Not only this year. But yes, winning this year is part of the goal. I've been 100 percent consistent.... They can't keep going year to year on pitching.
  14. Ray is signed for one year? So, again, in the same spot next year, Odo and Ray will be free agents.... I'll take Ray, but it's another short term band aid.
  15. They prioritize money over winning is not the same thing as wanting to lose. Business is all about setting priorities, and in the history of this team, it's fairly clear that winning is not the top priority. Which is cool, they should make money. The question is, is there ever a time to spend more, increasing the odds of winning more, assuming you trust the FO to spend well. Which I mostly do.
  16. I was literally replying to a post about trading for a good starter, and how hard that is.
  17. So, pretty much the Twins before this last season?
  18. How many number two pitchers have been traded in the last four or so off seasons?
  19. Agreed, but the timing is off for this year and possibly next.
  20. In support of the belief that the Twins may have somehow failed Buxton by not letting him fail......and in support of my argument that players should be promoted faster as a rule..... Weenie 12:43 Do you think Dipoto seems to be a little too aggressive with promoting his prospects? White, Lewis, and Dunn haven’t played AAA and Sheffield struggled there last year, yet Dipoto seems to imply that all 4 are likely to have an opening day roster spot. Eric A Longenhagen 12:44 No, I think more and more teams are pushing guys until they fail, then slowing down, and I think this strategy is appropriate. I'm not sure the PCL is great for dev.
  21. The pen does look like it will be one of the better ones. I like the odds one of the AAA/AA pitchers really steps up in the bullpen this year also. Of course, they need to get to the 6th inning first.....
  22. I literally have no idea what this post means.
