  1. Goldstein: Don't know this kid. Big. Not much velo. This is what happens in round 3.....
  2. At this point, they pretty much have agreements in place before they pick a guy, from what I read and hear.
  3. Goldstein gives Pittsburgh a 70% chance of signing Chandler....
  4. I got the shakes .... but we'll see if this time it works!
  5. Listening to Goldstein......great starting point to get this guy at 61....needs work. Good upside play. A LONG way to go. Everything beyond the FB needs work. A lot of room to grow. (re-posted from draft thread, for those that won't go there). Goldstein works at Fangraphs, and used to be in a front office.

  7. In reading the Fangraphs coverage, they make it clear teams are all over the board in their rankings. VERY different than football for sure.
  8. Ya, Chandler would be financially nuts for not going to play college football at this point. I'm hoping more CF/SS and pitching (and a catcher) today.
  9. According to Kevin Goldstein at Fangraphs, who worked in a FO, yes, they almost certainly have an agreement already. With both players.
  10. I'm glad they went pitcher, SS. NO idea on if either individual is the right choice, but I like the positions. I'm hoping for more defense and pitching as they go, and certainly at least one catcher.
  11. Because a lottery ticket is better than nothing.
  12. To be clear, I'm not in love with the FO and pitching development either......but I think we can't judge their work on one player this fast.
  13. It's not even one year......I think we have to realize that no human knows everything, and that they need to adjust to success and failure. I think saying they've failed with this player this soon is jumping the gun. Or do we expect perfection in the first two months of new MLB players now?
  14. It is good when they win....
  15. I'm no fan of the Pohlads, but this ownership group has shown NO need to go cheap since they fully took over.
  16. So, teams that take pitchers are just all wrong? I mean, other, successful, teams do draft pitchers in round 1 (like Tampa, even).
  17. they really think that pitchers are just lying around in late rounds, and hitters aren't.....they've also devalued defense with their selections....how's that working? I guess we'll find out how right they are in the next couple years. I have my doubts it is a sustainable path.
  18. How do you plan to acquire said players, if you won't deal guys on expiring deals? It is likely they get nothing, but they 100% get nothing if they don't re-sign them. And, there is almost no way they are re-signing most of them after this year.
  19. If people think the Twins' FO had a bad off season....the Cubs. Ugh. I blame the owner, given his comments, but man. Anyway, I'll say it again. It is the FO's job to make the system better. They will have failed if the don't deal some of the expiring contracts.
  20. I prefer a SS, CF, or pitcher over another corner bat. Catcher would be OK, but not my fave. Fangraphs has them taking catchers in round 1 and the supplemental (one of whom you name).
  21. I doubt any team cares about his season long ERA.....if his last 4 starts are good, he MIGHT be worth something. I have my doubts he's moved, though.
  22. They are losing 90 games with those players, on expiring deals (not Donaldson).....I'm not sure what you want them to do? Keep them until they sign somewhere else next year, and get nothing, and still lost 90 games?
