  1. The average start in the majors has been under 6 innings for a few years now. People screaming the starters need to average more than 5 or 6 just aren't paying attention to all of the other teams.
  2. Maybe they weren't sure archer and bundy, as reclamation projects, would work out.... since they never do. Inept? Two division titles, a starting staff they acquired, and leading the division.... your standards are high.
  3. You are the one that said once the game starts, it is on the manager. I must have misunderstood what that meant, if not the skill of the players doesn't matter.
  4. I never said that. I would like people to acknowledge he isn't awful, given his options. The hate for him on this site is over the top ridiculous. I bet the over under on deleted posts about him is astronomical.
  5. So if the players are bad, losses are on the manager for using them? The manager in Oakland is bad, because their record is bad, not because the players have the worst OBP in modern history? Unreal.
  6. It should be clear that this isn't on the manager. He has few options. This is on the front office. Just amazing how bad the relief pitchers are.
  7. The same front office that built an entire starting staff from scratch? People just can't see beyond their rage.....
  8. I loved all those parts.... Especially Leia.
  9. I don't recall reading positive stuff about his D at short, so I'm not sure how he's a Lewis replacement.... He looks the part of a guy that can play around the field and hit. The question becomes, who does he replace? Even next year?
  10. Also they didn't "allow" him to leave. He had every right to leave. I am truly baffled by that whole paragraph.
  11. You think they are paying different than other teams? Wes will make around 750k after salary, camps, booster money, etc. That is on Twitter. By beat writers. People sharing information are only sharing what is known as it is known. Your opinion on what MLB would do is ridiculous. No company treats it's employees that way.
  12. We aren't owed answers to any of these. What would change if we did? Nothing.
  13. It is clearly NOT about the money, given the smallish raise......he has stated he gets a lot more time with his family this way....
  14. There is no legal US contract that binds an employee to a company if they want to go to another industry.
  15. The contracts forbid movement within MLB....not to other jobs. They also allow teams to force players to go to another team, even if they don't want to (to keep their jobs). Commitments are one way streets for most fans. Heck, fans boo players that were traded sometimes, let alone players that finally were free to choose their employer and left.....
  16. This. People are cool with teams literally sending players to cities they may not want to live in, no choice, but a coach leaving for a job he wants is bad/wrong/evil/shady/disrespectful/etc?
  17. Recruiting season is now....not in months. The job starts now, not in months. It isn't a straw man at all. This is when the job starts. Not later. And no, given that the team can fire him any time, there is no obligation at all to the team. Why do people think workers are somehow obligated to stay in a job they don't want anymore? Your last line is the straw man. We have no idea. Maybe he likes the teaching in college. Maybe he's now on a track to a head coach job? Maybe he is tired of working with MLB players? That last line has NOTHING to do with when the job is available at all, which seems to be the issue people have.
  18. I'm shocked at the last two games. He's a legit number five, maybe four. He's already given them more this year than I thought he would. Good for him!
  19. You'd turn down doubling your pay, to go to a job you want? You'd expect criticism for doing so?
  20. People switch jobs in the middle of projects all the time. Companies lay people off in the middle of projects. Take the money and the job you want....
  21. Would you not let him go, if you were them? He's made it clear he wants to go, he's getting double the pay.... What kind of employer would stand in his way? Would you want to work at such a place? I wouldn't.
  22. You don't get to choose to start a job three or four months later than needed. I have no issue with the timing. It's when the job was offered. I have an issue with the lower pay at the MLB level. Penny wise, pound foolish, imo.
  23. Really didn't love season four of Discovery at all. I'm trying to be nice here ... Hated the end of Obi Wan. Dude has been killing innocent people for a decade, his alignment detector goes from good to evil, and Obi walks away again. At least try to detain him, anything but let him go free again.
  24. War allows you to compare Arraez to that player, and answer just that question. It's all explained online if you want to know.
