  1. Why? Why would you trade him? He's paid little for what he does. And, they don't have another RF ready. What would SD have to give back?
  2. I don't think they will, btw. I think they should, if they won't use him at C.
  3. If they don't think Sanchez can catch, I'd just release him or trade him for nothing (other than saving some of the money). Sano should be the DH, as he's atrocious at first (somehow). I'd put almost anyone at first rather than him. They could not be worse. Arraez should be the LF or 1B, though maybe they don't want him running around in the OF.
  4. They don't need three catchers. I bet they do that, but why? Unless they've given up on Sanchez at catcher completely.... In which case, just release him.
  5. They are better at pitching. Gray is about Berrios. Ryan is Pineda, and no one will be as bad as Shoemaker was last year.
  6. Last year they could have put it in Wade or Addoo, who were unproven, which would have been fine......Cave didn't work. That doesn't make it a bad plan to not spend real money on a backup....
  7. What team doesn't have a chasm between an MVP candidate and his backup? Really, what is your realistic expectation here? What backup CF is out there? And, at some point, every rookie or first or second year player is unproven.
  8. Let's hope they don't keep taking bat first corner players in round 1.....
  9. Buxton in Center and Correa at SS is getting by? Unproven rookies? I am baffled by this post, truly. Then they have Lewis and Celestino and Martin that can play CF if needed long term, two of whom are top 100 prospects, and the other is highly rated. Catcher is an issue, but I'm not sure what you realistically expect.
  10. 2 ish WAR from a medium paid player is fine. That's his "floor", give or take. I'd bet on 2.5 WAR this year, and people will still think he's not good enough.
  11. I'd bet good money Martin outhits and out defenses AK in left right now. Put AK at first, and Martin in LF. Trade Sano for a bag of beans if you have to at this point.....because the D is going to be terrible with this alignment.
  12. C+.... And only because of Correa and Buxton. None of the other moves are ones I love. Had they signed one good starting pitcher, I'd move it to an A-..... But they are betting way too much on the guys in the minors, imo. I like the Gray move...btw. maybe love it?
  13. Which has nothing to do with who is in AA vs AAA. Do people really think Lewis is ready for AAA, and Martin is not? Based on what history?
  14. And what has Lewis done at any level above A? That's the part I don't get. Why Lewis would be in AAA, above Martin. And, yes, he was great last year, no power or not.
  15. Crazy. He can hit, dominated AA already. What has Lewis done? I don't understand.
  16. Please don't take a bat first corner guy early. Please.
  17. Ditto. Also, they DON'T need 3 catchers. If someone gets hurt, fly the dude to where they are. Pinch hit for the DH spot if you somehow lose it..... If they put Rooker in LF, Buxton better be VERY fast..... No surprise on Miranda. I'm disappointed Larnach isn't ready, maybe they should stop drafting bat first guys in round 1? Maybe?
  18. I wouldn't be shocked if Martin gets time in CF if Buck gets hurt and will miss long periods.....but I'd guess it is Gordon for now, with Cave in AAA for emergencies and Celestino needing to hit at AAA for some time before he's an option (long sentence, but you get the points, I hope).
  19. thanks for the info. He was staggeringly bad at first! I had no idea it was that bad. Ya, he should be the DH......
  20. Agreed. I don't know how Martin isn't listed as a LF prospect at this point. I expect him to start there for MN or another team for years to come, putting up 2.5-3 WAR per year.
  21. 3-4 at first? I can't see that at all. No way. What's the largest gap using fangraphs or bref?
  22. Also, I don't really see a use for Rooker on this roster. Not with AK and Larnach on it.
  23. Why? So they play 1 game w/o a DH if Jeffers is hurt and Sanchez is the DH. Or, if they PH or something weird, they lose the DH late in the game, then PH for the pitcher's spot. I just don't see it as the risk so many here do. They don't need 3 catchers, IMO.
