  1. So Ryan, who was a rookie didn't count? This idea that they don't have a pipeline is ridiculous. Ryan, ober, smeltzer, winder, and a couple rookie RPs isn't enough to add in one year? I like chief, but expecting more than that is ridiculous. On topic, there is no guarantee next year is this good, how many years should they put off adding players while in first? They likely won't have CC, and Buxton had played way more games than previous years. Exactly how do the naysayers think this team is better next, and NY, Tor, Houston, et. al. are worse?
  2. No idea, but the coverage here has been excellent. Thanks. Me? I want the high risk, high ceiling, guys. Go for it.
  3. I'd take him without hesitation, given all I know is what I've read, obviously....
  4. Odds were VERY HIGH the Twins score once they had two on and nobody out. So, he didn't add much to the odds of winning.
  5. At least 11 didn't knowingly leave a mass murderer alive and free, for a second time.
  6. Yup. The twins are league median offensively among MLB teams at catcher. I just checked. Actually, they are 11th..... I'd suggest that content is important when considering what would be done this year, and when judging the players.
  7. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/byron-buxton-is-finally-an-all-star/
  8. Seems like looking at these numbers compared to the league.... Would lead one to believe the team is near league median.... So, hardly a real concern. Jeffers has barely been in the league, and people want to give up on him. People asking to trade for one long term.... What team is giving up a long term catcher? There just aren't many on the planet.
  9. We're looking at sample sizes of three now? Maybe look at every RP trade over the last five years across baseball for useful data. The site is filled with people saying the team has too many players for the 40 man next year, and people don't want to trade anyone? I get that some feel this team will be better next year. But they probably won't have CC. They won't have a built in 4.5 game lead. If the team doesn't add players when leading the division, why would anyone think they would next year? It would be a terrible decision not to try to get better. Any news on Maeda?
  10. Also, I'm bored with 011 being the only answer....her entire arc in season 4 was meh.
  11. Reagan would have bombed that town by now.....just sayin'
  12. That's a lot of pitchers, and lack of up the middle players. I could get behind it, but I'd be nervous about the lack of up the middle players in the system, given their, imo, misses lately.
  13. That Mahle trade is awesome of the Twins, no way the Reds do that. If they do get Mahle, I move him to the pen and make him a 2 inning RP. That's way less than the Twins got for Berrios, and it isn't close. I'm not too keen on trading Steer at this point, not for a rental at a position that the Twins might be ok at (DH or 1B, given how often Buxton and Arraez DH and AK is the 1B). I'd do the Bard deal. I just think all those moves together deplete the hitters in the minors too much. I'd much rather give up Ober or Enlow or Balazavich than all of Steer, Wallner, Martin (who I was clearly too high on).
  14. You consider a number 2/3 starting pitcher a supporting piece? Tough grader. Ryan is absolutely as likely to be important to the future of this team as Kiriloff or Lewis, and certainly Duran.
  15. Writing, pacing, acting.....all great in season 4. Loved the ending. Truly great tv.
  16. Other than catcher, who do these guys replace? And each add adds a 40 man issue. If we are going to talk adding bats, it would be great if we discussed who they replace. So, maybe the OP can do that?
  17. If Mahle is reasonable to acquire, I do that and move him to a two inning RP. I think he'd be nearly unhittable in that role. I don't see Miami dealing either of their top two. Castillo is obviously an interesting starter for a playoff team. I wanted Montas, but not now.
  18. I misunderstood you. While I don't agree completely, my bias is also SS types..... so I understand your hesitancy with a catcher.
  19. You can't be serious. He provided more value at catcher than most others. He's a hall of fame player. Baltimore is thrilled with their new catcher.
  20. Nelson Cruz was not good until his late 20s..... I'm not sure drafting him and getting nothing because he was on another team is a good example. Do we really think he's going to be an elite bat? Because if he's not, he's a negative on defense. That's a huge gamble. I am not a fan of bat only players, like Sabato at all. It's just too much risk. I'm not a fan of this idea, in terms of process. Got no idea in terms of outcomes.
  21. Thanks for coming into this thread of celebration with your hawt take of negatively.
  22. Which has nothing to do with insisting good pitching staffs should average 6 or 7 innings.
