  1. Or better yet, directly to the players themselves.
  2. Fixed it for you. You obviously aren't from around here, are you.
  3. Are you referring to this? http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/article/cin/obstruction-rule-leads-to-overturn-reds-tying-run-in-win-over-marlins?ymd=20140731&content_id=87347952&vkey=news_cin
  4. Maybe no one ever told Santana what his mean is. He might accidentally go his entire career as a .300 hitter with speed and power because no one ever told him.
  5. Isn't Walter Matthau gonna come out for a pep talk
  6. Hey Guys! How's the game going? Mind if I join in??? :)
  7. I think this lineup will take shape sometime next summer. So maybe set back only half or three quarters a year I'm ok with Escobar at short and Santana in center and with Plouffe at third. Seeing the quality of other 3b in the Central and I think we're ok with either Plouffe or Sano at 3B.
  8. ok, but Santana was called up basically as a warm body when the Twins found themselves carrying 14 pitchers all the sudden. Gardy was still happily writing in Florimon at short even after Santana arrived. Give Santana credit- he continues to hit and has made the most of his opportunity in center. He has really improved there. You can also give the Twins credit by trading Fuld so that Santana can continue to play center full time and learn.
  9. I know the empty balloon feeling you are talking about. Maybe the Twins just don't think May is as good as Pino and the others. As we are now in August, maybe Twins fans should forget May and start discussing Meyer's debut?
  10. Na-Na-Na-Na, Na-Na-Na-Na, Hey Hey Hey, good night!
  11. When the rooftop concert was far, far in the future..
  12. With all the 70s rock somebody's gotta say Thunder Island, Joe Ferguson.. With McCartney playing in Minneapolis tonight you can't crack a beer anywhere without hearing a Beatles or McCartney song
  13. I predict one of those guys starts either the Wed or Thurs game next week.
  14. Sconnie, I actually think the right manager could come on board and instantly make this team a contender. Somehow Tom Kelly did it, and you see it just about every year, a losing team makes a playoff run. Granted the current Twins still do not have the horses to make a serious bid at a World Series championship, but just about anything can happen in the playoffs. Now to contradict my last sentence by 180 degrees, I will say I don't think the Twins are likely to ever win another playoff series under Gardenhire. Basically, Gardy's disregard for statistics will always leave the Twins unprepared against most any team they are likely to encounter. Which is not to say Gardy is a bad manager - I think he does certain things well, and people (me for example) sometimes underestimate how alert he is to what's going on on the field. I will save the rest of my praise for him until his retirement party though. jtkoupal, thanks for your support. Many Minnesota natives feel the same as you and are ready to move on into the future.
  15. I'd also keep Santana in center and Escobar at short. Keep one or both at the top of the order. Keep Dozier second or third, move Mauer permanently down to sixth - before long it won't be his team anymore
  16. A six man rotation could be the answer for a while. We have a lot of healthy guys who can make a case to be starting. Only thing is getting Meyer's starts in August before his inning quota. Or bullpen. I wouldn't mind seeing Meyer debut in a tie game in the 7th or 8th either -- a high pressure situation but without any postseason positioning at stake.
  17. I think you're a little harsh on a couple of those guys, but, it kind of proves your point -- maybe you can make a case for any individual guy, but not all these guys. Of the players you named, I feel Nunez is the most expendable.
  18. Vargas made it. I disagree on Hicks. For whatever reason, him and Gardy just do not mix. Or maybe it's Antony or the other coaches. Or maybe even Hicks's own teammates. Whatever, it would instantly become a distraction if Hicks came back on and even in a sub .500 season I'd prefer not to be audience to that. That might mean dealing Hicks in the offseason if the Twins decide to keep their coaches yet another year.
  19. Is Milone coming off injury? A short trip to AAA would not be a big deal. I like this move. Santana full time CF here on out. He's still got a lot to work on (like making a catch on that Gordon double last night) but he'll be ok providing he gets on base. Not great but ok.
  20. Good point John. Willingham might fit in Oakland now. I wouldn't be surprised if Suzuki or Willingham stay put though. They like it here and the Twins players want to stick together and finish strong this year. I'm actually on board with this idea though the FO will be skewered for it.
  21. Sure, and how much better would they be under Pittsburgh's care
  22. I did watch Worley pitch most of this game. Somewhere between brilliance and dumb luck. None of his 3 strikeouts came after the first time through the order. One of the double plays was a pitch high and in after the catcher set up outside. Plenty of routine outs but a good share of liners too. Hunter Pence destroyed a pitch in the 9th for a triple but it was with two outs, so didn't score. As far as four-hit complete game shutouts go, this had to be one of the ugliest. However, give him credit. He was throwing a variety of pitches, and not using his flat fastball much (I am remembering by eyeball and not pitchfx data). He was all over the strike zone but not wild. He was getting inside the SF batters heads, which is one way to do it. Their plan was to come up swinging against him, and maybe Pittsburgh's staff knew that and adjusted for him. So they've really put Worley in position to succeed. This will probably be his career MLB moment. He should still pitch passably well for the rest of the year if he maintains his confidence and doesn't let a bad start rattle him. The Bucs are in a pennant race and I can't help but be curious to watch Worley and Frankie on occasion.
