  1. Just a little Minnesota pride for ya (and maybe a little regional elitism..)
  2. Whatever. You got that idea from mlbtraderumors.com.
  3. I think you mean "secede" now Minnesota, we might succeed...
  4. Nobody had mentioned how Kevin Correia went 2-for-2 tonight and scored the tying run in the bottom of the sixth in a Dodgers win tonight. EDIT: oh and he pitched, too.
  5. Gotcha. Obviously the best scenario is that he rebounds next year and in future years.
  6. Schafer struck out on a "big wooly bender from Peacock" -Atteberry ... Not sure I want to think about that too hard...
  7. I do agree with you. But he's doing well enough at the plate. He can keep cf warm til Buxton shows up.
  8. I just watched his last at bat. You sure about that?
  9. you want Schafer to move to center??
  10. Hi ChiTown.. that was my reaction to both those pieces of news
  11. I was honestly warming to the idea of keeping Willingham. I mean the guys hitting a game winning HR every couple weeks or so.
  12. Regarding Mauer, it may be hard to see a scenario where he's not with the team through 2018, but it's also hard to see a scenario where he IS with the team through 2018. Honestly, not to knock him, but you just wonder at that contract, his skills as a hitter (hitting singles and drawing bases on balls) and the possibility that even playing first base he's going to miss a month or two of every season. Sano and Vargas have both been discussed as first base candidates, not to mention some lower level guys in the system who play first. I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins try to rework that contract or redefine his role, with all possibilities on the table. Just a feeling.
  13. I know, June and July just flew by.
  14. With Mauer returning, my first thought is Vargas. Would Arcia to the DL keep open DH at bats for Vargas? Or better yet let Mauer DH (in the 6 hole, dang it) and continue to let Vargas play first.
  15. Jordan Schafer might soon be the answer to the trivia question: Who is the only Twin to have started in every game since August 5th.
  16. I had a dream during my nap today that three former Twins center fielders were currently in the NL top 15 in batting average...
  17. So quietly that the Twins don't even know it, as Nunez seems to be pulling down 33-40% of the starts at short.
  18. Well RB, we could go back to the old Roman timekeeping - hours after sunrise, hours before midday, hour after midday, etc. It would be just like the Colosseum to suddenly do that.
  19. It would not be beyond Pete Rose to try to set up a competing professional baseball league so that he might be commissioner of it.
  20. Fair enough. I think last night's game was a pretty good demonstration why we need fresh blood in the dugout. The A's were absolutely teeing off on Pino's fastball and even our radio guys were shaking their heads and predicting fastball, yet no adjustments were made until the three runs were scored.
  21. If only Gardy can somehow muscle this team up to a 73-89 record! And just think, a couple months ago people were going all in, 85 wins, multiple guys who were having breakout seasons and several representatives in the All Star game!
  22. Did you guys break this? Nice work.
  23. True, Boras is a minor character in this play. It's interesting to read Boras's understated "I think Meyer is ready" comment, and contrast that with the fact that Baseball America is calling Meyer the pitcher with the best tools in the minor leagues. Almost by default you should be promoted if you are the best pitcher in the minor leagues. If Meyer is a competitor, he's probably pissed he hasn't been called up yet, and he has a pretty good case to be. I guess that's my point now. If Meyer had stayed in the Washington system, he'd be in the majors already, pitching alongside Strasburg and Zimmerman, two other guys who have gone through major arm problems and recovered fully.
