    Not a big WAR supporter, but how many times did Gordon put out Mauer on balls hit to left this weekend? And in a strange way, provided Kansas City reaches the postseason ahead of Detroit, I might even buy in to Gordon being two wins better than Cabrera. Like Chief was getting at, things that actually happen on the field go a long way with me.

    This was great! Doolittle first provides some background on sabermetrics to establish that he knows what he's talking about, then he gets into the fun stuff. I take one exception however. Towards the end, Doolittle says: "...And as the game evolves, so will the metrics. Hmm, maybe someday there'll be a metric to quantify clubhouse chemistry (the JON/nY GoM.E.S. phenomenon?)..." No dice, my friend. That's not it, and the Twins keep it a closely guarded secret.

    Congrats for getting out ahead of this story in 2012. With the benefit of an MLB-affiliated minor league development track, Colabello might have had a nice career as a very good major league hitter. He might still get another call up in September.

    It's possible Gardenhire and the coaches have played him just the right amount and pushed all the right buttons, to get maximum production out of him. However I would like to see Eddie get at least 3/4 playing time at short the rest of the year. Let's find out how he holds up through the end. Also, Escobar should get every chance in 2015 that Florimon got this year.
