  1. I encourage you to substantiate this claim, flesh it out with attribution from guys like Radcliff or Falvey @tony&rodney
  2. That said, a long hot streak might get us a #2 seed and 4 wins out of their next seven would be good. i think our old friend Tyler Mahle will be pitching one of these games
  3. Boston and Seattle both dropped winnable games last night. We are not in must-win territory yet.
  4. McCarthy needed to spend at least a full year holding the clipboard anyway. Sure does suck for the kid, though.
  5. Everything @Dmansaid — Matthews was good. Some hard contact but who doesn’t have that. Wont always get the calls from the home plate ump. But showed poise and command and acts like he belongs here. I think he moves ahead of Festa. also good write-up @Hans Birkeland
  6. Holy cow this KC team is a fraud. They spent the first half fattening themselves on lesser competition, 11-1 against the White Sox and such. Twins are probably only competing against BOS or SEA for 2 of the last 3 wild cards & should be there. Witt is legit along with a couple other guys in their lineup I guess. Pitchers are obviously overachieving. Lugo a career season. Great job by their 3B tonight lol Matthews, not bad tonight. Not great but not too bad. Carries himself really well. He has a future.
  7. I am excited to see Zebby Matthews tonight. I don’t see a lot of movement on his fastball from those video clips, but his excellent command of several pitches (according to some reports) may be able to overcome that. The Twins seem to be leaning less and less on fastballs and that has worked to Twins pitchers advantage. As for the rest, it’s always yet to be seen. Festa looks like just a guy, albeit a great achievement to make it to the majors. I liked Cory Lewis at one point but Lewis needs to get his walks down. Woods Richardson may be the best surprise so far, maybe being in the bigs was actually the best place for him to be and helped him turn that corner. Still too early to be sure with SWR. I remember wanting PJ Walters, Scott Diamond, and Andrew Albers to be the next big things ten years ago. They were ok for a short time. I was also keen on Jose Berrios and Alex Meyer. I think the best comp for Matthews is probably Bailey Ober—mid round college pitcher with great control. Haven’t dug into it too much.
  8. Stewart broke the majors with a 93-94 mph fastball, then after some early career injuries, it dropped to 91-93. Then, Stewart comes back after a Tommy John, joins the Twins, and is somehow throwing 97-98. It was too good to be true. We did get some good outs from him in his time here. Best of luck to him.
  9. Looks like they are giving Topa at least two days off between appearances and it’s only been one day off since his last appearance.
  10. We’ve had one of the wettest summers on record in southern half of Minnesota.
  11. It would be nice to get your guy Correa back too. I know he’s a physical specimen who heals quickly but I would rather have him full strength in September than 90% in August.
  12. Any Joe Ryan updates? I love it when good news is withheld Still waiting on the Twins to print out the MRI results?
  13. Anyone who thinks manager decisions don’t affect outcomes, Tony La Russa not only lost games but set this stupid franchise back a decade lol Go Twins!
  14. I mean, that’s Rocco’s job to keep the players focused, not our job 🙂
  15. Cleveland KC & Boston all leading (games not over) would be a gut punch to sweep this series and not really gain ground in the playoff races
  16. Crochet Independent of that, the Mighty Whiteys are apparently limiting Crochet’s innings for the rest of 2024. He has a 74 pitch start and a 64 pitch start since the All Star break. they are limiting his innings in their belief that they will need his arm to be stronger in 2025 because they plan to be contenders, or something
  17. I guess I knew that. The narrative I would push back on is that the Pohlads are cheap. Which sounds weird (to borrow a phrase). Record payrolls the last two years, and then a payroll reset this year. I can make sense of that logic. Falvey had all offseason and all summer to get creative and work a deal around the payroll constraints. Sounds like moving Kepler and a good prospect to New York for Nestor Cortes was a possibility at one point. Maybe try to trade away Margot’s salary for a song.
  18. What reporting? (honest question; as i am not following the day to day much right now)
  19. The Pohlads just bankrolled record payrolls in 2022 and 2023. I'm not buying the narrative on this site right now.
  20. Ober has pitched 4 of his 20 starts against Detroit, a minor league rag tag of misfits if there ever was one. There are other low-caliber opponents in his game log too. He does have great command. I would guess his third time through numbers a good, too. If he finishes the season strong, we can maybe say that he is very, very, very, very, very exceptional. I would be comfortable preparing Ober to pitch in a playoff game with a good game plan, against whoever.
