  1. Sure, I’ll take the bait. In terms of bang for buck, which infield combination sounds best right about now: $ 44 million, Correa/Arraez $ 37 million, Correa/Castro $ 12 million, Lewis/Arraez $ 4 million, Lewis/Castro A little something for both sides there, I hope.
  2. I love the analysis but I don't necessarily agree with the conclusion of "he will be fine". Who knows? If these pitch selections and locations hold, I think the better teams will be able to capitalize. Duran has had some near misses of late. At this point I no longer think of him as unhittable. Is he really good? Yes. Another thing is how many 100+ flame throwers can maintain good health and for how long? I have no idea. I haven't been keeping track. I think if there's any injury or discomfort at all that we need to give this guy (Duran) ample rest so that he can be ready to ramp it back up to 103-104 in the postseason.
  3. Man this team is hot — everything is going their way and most importantly, they don’t quit. Sometimes they fail to show up, like against New York, but when they do show up, they don’t quit. 🙂
  4. Echo all the great compliments above. We are lucky that Mike Radcliffe, the scouting, the front office, and everyone else could all come together on this individual and take him #1. Speaking for myself, I would start him at Shortstop in Game 2 of the split doubleheader tonight, and never look back.
  5. I am in favor of platooning. Most likely it was easier to see results of platooning back in the earlier eras when the expectation was that a single pitcher would pitch all nine innings and the favorable platoon matchup would hold for the whole game. The pinch hitting in the middle innings I am guessing is a Rocco thing, and Rocco alone. It would be fun to see some data from other teams however. As far as Kirilloff, I wonder if a Miranda-Kirilloff platoon at first wouldn’t be better medium-term and longterm for the team and also give those two guys some certainty about their roles, at least for the next season or two. Edit: granted I think neither of them are above average fielders
  6. I am for platooning. This right here is what I am against, the early and automatic pinch hitting. It seems penny wise and pound foolish to me, and I’m not convinced it has added net wins for the team based on results of those plate appearances,, unless someone were to go back game by game and look.
  7. I actually agree with this to a large degree. I have not been following as closely as in past years, but I think there is room for some team to succeed by just having more every day players who know how to play defense at a primary position and just put more balls in play.
  8. Is this satire disguised as argument or vice versa? Is this even factual?
  9. I disagree; but I also think the more interesting question is the one about how the Injured List is used.
  10. The Twins were right to demote Kirilloff for the simple reason that the Twin Can Do No Wrong!
  11. What’s even worse is that Park is supposedly in a neutral role of just reporting on the Twins, not jumping to their defense when something questionable happens.
  12. Well since this is Twins Daily, your punchline could have also been Avian Flu, or Joe Benson. 🙂
  13. Yeah, a year ago we talked about how huge it would be if Kirilloff came back 100% from his wrist issue. Well, he’s apparently 100% now but he’s also now just another mediocre guy with minor league options.
  14. Wait, so Santana pinch hit for Margot, the same Margot who is the designated pinch hitter on this team?
  15. I’m going to go the other direction on Kirilloff. Kirilloff is a sensitive guy, seems like a guy who would flourish if they just told him, “you’re our guy” and put him in the lineup every night.
  16. I really thought this was a three-game sweep—the previous inning will make it that much harder. Rockies gonna Rockie and give this game back? Never know…
  17. And people make fun of regression lines! 🤣
