  1. Thanks for bringing this up. There is nothing you get from Gallo that you can't get from Kirilloff. What they need to do is drop one (or two) of their lefthanded bats and find a righthanded bat. They don't need Gallo AND Kepler AND Larnach AND Kirilloff AND Wallner on this roster (and I'm ignoring Julien and Nick Gordon). That was obvious when they added Gallo.
  2. But it doesn't matter for determining who the MVP is in a given year. If you want to give the front office an award for obtaining on-field value for the lowest cost you're more than welcome to do so.
  3. I hesitate to call someone who projects as a corner outfielder a "five tool" player. If he had plus speed he would profile in centerfield. I think they're both plus athletes with All-Star potential.
  4. Steve Cohen should have put an end to that line of thinking this offseason. The Angels have not been held back one bit because of Trout's paycheck. They have been held back because the Angels front office has been selecting the wrong players for his supporting cast. The rules for the MVP voting don't mention anything about production per dollar, just how good a player is on offense and defense. I would vote for MVP (and by corollary LVP) based on the rules, not on your alternate criteria. It's pretty clear to me the least valuable player for the Twins has been Jose Miranda.
  5. I disagree completely. Value is all about how much the player helped his team win. What the player is paid is irrelevant to the discussion. Here are the MVP voting instructions: They don't have a (6) how little the player is paid because of MLB service time rules
  6. They don't have to dominate to win in the playoffs, just play slightly above .500 baseball for a month.
  7. First, you're reading something wrong. Correa has 1.0 fWAR Minnesota Twins Leaderboards » 2023 » Batters » Dashboard | FanGraphs Baseball Second, by that logic Mike Trout and Aaron Judge shouldn't win an MVP because they make too much money to be valuable. Only minimum salary All-Stars would win the award.
  8. Correa isn't even close to the least valuable player on the Twins, let alone the entire American League.
  9. Guessing this new poster is Pasqualotto's relative. Glad to have a new Twins fan.
  10. The title "Folding Dallas Keuchel into 6 man rotation would be a wise choice for Twins" I don't think it's a wise choice at all.
  11. I don't see them selling if they're at a .500 record. A .500 record probably wins this division. If they go 4-12 over the next 16 games then they probably sell. I think 7-9 is their worst 16 game stretch this whole season.
  12. The draft should be pretty good again in 3 years with all the high schoolers who are going to choose to go to college to improve their draft status.
  13. Jenkins #2, Soto 10-15 range, he's behind Festa and Raya for me but probably ahead of the injured Prielipp and Canterino. Jenkins and Lee have similar ceiling but Lee has the higher floor.
  14. There is no reason to handle Maeda with kid gloves. These might be the last good innings in his MLB career. He's a free agent and probably someone else's problem next season. He is also unlikely to start a game in the playoffs. Use him up. With Sonny Gray you want to manage his workload to ensure he's still effective in October. They're not out of playoff contention yet. They also want to make sure he's healthy so they can tag him with the Qualifying Offer. Still, I'd use him as much as possible. I can pretty much guarantee that 6 man rotation will not last long. Someone will get hurt and it will become a 5 man rotation.
  15. That's a big unless. A minor injury to one of the starters is nearly a guarantee.
