Have to agree. It made me think about how and when Winder gets added. Obviously, injury creates opportunity, but I think they end up trading Archer / Bundy or even Gray at the deadline. If the SPs stay healthy a couple of these three could get traded leaving Ryan / Paddack / Ober / Winder and one of the veterans for the rest of the season with Smeltzer as depth. A good showing the next couple months from some of the next wave (Smeltzer / Balazovic / Henriguez / Sands / SWR / Canterinio) would likely make the FO more inclined to trade some of our veteran pitching at the deadline at which point Winder would take a permanent spot (hopefully) in the rotation.

Let's Cut Miguel Sanó Some Slack
Major League Ready replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would not be considering cutting him just yet. There are a lot of great players really slumping this year. Whit Merrifield who is normally steady has a wRC+ of 7. Franmill Reyes, 11, Bobby Dalbec is at 30, Joey Votto 42, Marcus Semien 42, and Randy Arozarena 55. Eddie Rosario has been the worst hitter in the league at -20 wRC+. Correa had been pretty bad too, but he sure looks like he is out of his funk. On the other hand, they just don't need him if Kirilloff can stay healthy and Trevor Larnach is for real. They are going to let this play out for another month at least so buckle your seat belts. -
Lewis has a 420 OBP. Let's hope he can maintain a high OBP at the ML level. Buxton and Lewis at the top of our lineup for the next several years will be fun to watch.

They have scored 3 or less in all 9 losses. I would not be criticizing pitching at this point. The weakness has been the heart of the order (Correa / Polanco / Kirilloff / Sano)

The number of great pitching performances is REALLY encouraging. I was very interested to follow Raya this year. He is kind of a Berrios clone with perhaps even more upside. Gibson-Long is the other guy that looks like he has a high ceiling. All of these other guys who are looking so good are making these weekly reports a real day brightener.

Is Byron Buxton Baseball's Best Player?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
IDK. It's just nice to have a player worthy of this question signed to play for our favorite team for the next 7 years.- 42 replies

It would appear removing the big leg kick has Lewis on the ball and it has not reduced his power. This could be the development of the year. Man, I hope this version of Royce Lewis continues to show-up. Now, we need last year's Jose Miranda to return.

It's been 13 games. Mookie Bets is hitting 178 with a wRC+ of 61. Mitch Garver's wRC+ is 71. Josh Donaldson is 78. Glebor Torres is at 56. Goldsmidt and Bichette are at 50. Marcus Semien is at 42 and Joey Gallo is at 29. They had a 3 week spring training. We can condemn Correa or all of them 50 or 60 games from now if they continue at this pace but 13 games is nothing.

Twins Have Important Reinforcements Close
Major League Ready replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How great would it be for these three to establish themselves by year end! They could make this lineup really deep and fun to watch. Buxton / Lewis / Martin and Gordon would provide the speed and excitement this team is missing. It's a big year for some pitching prospects too. Ryan / Winder and Duran at the ML level and Balazovic / SWR and Canterino pushing their way up to the ML level would be really exciting.- 42 replies

Let's hope Kirilloff is a middle of the order bat at 1B for the next several years. If not, 1B is easy to fill. I am really hoping Miranda can play an average 3B. We don't have any 3B prospects with Miranda's offensive ceiling. Perhaps CES but he is starting his 1st season at high A so he has a long way to go. Miranda and Lewis taking over the left side of the IF and playing to level we all hope for would be huge for the future of this team. I am hoping for Lewis/Miranda holding down those spots by the start of next season.

Twins Minor League Week in Review (4/12-18)
Major League Ready replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. I meant reports with so many players showing great promise. Seeing top guys like Lewis / SWR perform so well out of the gate and Duran / Ryan at the MLB level is really encouraging. There are also some players who are not currently on top of any prospect lists who are looking very good. That's what I am hoping to see every week.- 28 replies

I sure hope the organization is not that short-sighted. His development into our SS for the next decade is crucial to this team becoming a legit contender. He is right where he needs to be. Not only does he need to get reps at SS, but he is also working on swing changes and do that at the ML level is not a good idea. The best case scenario is he keeps this up consistently and replaces Correa when he opts out or is traded at the deadline.

What To Do With Miguel Sano
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No. He does not have an option remaining. Best case scenario, he gets going and is traded at the deadline. If not, he is going to playout the year and get bought out for 2.75M at the end of the season.- 65 replies

Minor League Report 4/16 The Bats Are Sizzling
Major League Ready replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
How fantastic is it to see Royce Lewis looking so darn good? I dream of Lewis and Miranda becoming our Rameriz/Lindor. Will Sawyer Gibson-Long be the pitcher who will climb the prospect charts or will it be Varland? Hopefully, both!- 26 replies

Maybe they think the only way to get his bat in the lineup regularly is to have him fill in for multiple positions. Just guessing!

Winning no doubt influences attendance but if this was true, they wouldn't bother with the myriad of things they do for the "fan experience". The relative merit of the "product" is a product of the entire experience for a large percentage of fans. As long as a few teams have the ability to spend literally twice as much on players, small and mid market teams are going to be at a disadvantage and therefore get their asses handed to them at times.

You can't blame the three-outcome game for the team being 16 games under 500. There is also plenty of blame to go around for the state of the game. Players are going to work on the skills that make them money and teams are going to emphasize whatever wins games. Home runs equates to big money for players, and they are not going to develop a 2 strike approach as long as hitting home runs equates to big money. Look at Kepler for example. He can't bunt when he has 75 ft between the SS and 3B. People don't seem to mind the state of the game nearly as much when their team is winning.

Has Luis Arraez Earned a Starting Role?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The team needs a long-term solution at 3B and Arraez is not a great option. Let's hope Miranda gets promoted after a great 6 weeks stretch and becomes the player we all hope he can be. While we are hoping let's hope Lewis is the great comeback story of 2022. Those two reaching their potential and holding down the left side of the infield for the next several years would be really / really nice. -
Urshela Ushers in New Hope at Third Base
Major League Ready replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Is it reasonable to assume Donaldson was at least part of the problem? Sure, but there were many other subtractions and several additions. It seems most reasonable to conclude the net of those changes has resulted in a better atmosphere. However, I have seen instances professionally where the removal of one or two individuals had a big impact on culture.- 30 replies

I too will be more interested to see Winder. I don't think Bundy is all that important to the Twin's success. Paddack finding something close to his 2019 form would be far more important. Archer also has a lot more upside and he appears to be perfectly healthy. We also have an option for next year, so I am a lot more concerned about how Archer performs. Don't get me wrong, I hope Bundy wows us all, but there are a few other guys that could be much more instrumental to both short and long(er) term success.
