It's been 13 games. Mookie Bets is hitting 178 with a wRC+ of 61. Mitch Garver's wRC+ is 71. Josh Donaldson is 78. Glebor Torres is at 56. Goldsmidt and Bichette are at 50. Marcus Semien is at 42 and Joey Gallo is at 29. They had a 3 week spring training. We can condemn Correa or all of them 50 or 60 games from now if they continue at this pace but 13 games is nothing.

Twins Have Important Reinforcements Close
Major League Ready replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
How great would it be for these three to establish themselves by year end! They could make this lineup really deep and fun to watch. Buxton / Lewis / Martin and Gordon would provide the speed and excitement this team is missing. It's a big year for some pitching prospects too. Ryan / Winder and Duran at the ML level and Balazovic / SWR and Canterino pushing their way up to the ML level would be really exciting.- 42 replies

Let's hope Kirilloff is a middle of the order bat at 1B for the next several years. If not, 1B is easy to fill. I am really hoping Miranda can play an average 3B. We don't have any 3B prospects with Miranda's offensive ceiling. Perhaps CES but he is starting his 1st season at high A so he has a long way to go. Miranda and Lewis taking over the left side of the IF and playing to level we all hope for would be huge for the future of this team. I am hoping for Lewis/Miranda holding down those spots by the start of next season.

Twins Minor League Week in Review (4/12-18)
Major League Ready replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. I meant reports with so many players showing great promise. Seeing top guys like Lewis / SWR perform so well out of the gate and Duran / Ryan at the MLB level is really encouraging. There are also some players who are not currently on top of any prospect lists who are looking very good. That's what I am hoping to see every week.- 28 replies

I sure hope the organization is not that short-sighted. His development into our SS for the next decade is crucial to this team becoming a legit contender. He is right where he needs to be. Not only does he need to get reps at SS, but he is also working on swing changes and do that at the ML level is not a good idea. The best case scenario is he keeps this up consistently and replaces Correa when he opts out or is traded at the deadline.

What To Do With Miguel Sano
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No. He does not have an option remaining. Best case scenario, he gets going and is traded at the deadline. If not, he is going to playout the year and get bought out for 2.75M at the end of the season.- 65 replies

Minor League Report 4/16 The Bats Are Sizzling
Major League Ready replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
How fantastic is it to see Royce Lewis looking so darn good? I dream of Lewis and Miranda becoming our Rameriz/Lindor. Will Sawyer Gibson-Long be the pitcher who will climb the prospect charts or will it be Varland? Hopefully, both!- 26 replies

Maybe they think the only way to get his bat in the lineup regularly is to have him fill in for multiple positions. Just guessing!

Winning no doubt influences attendance but if this was true, they wouldn't bother with the myriad of things they do for the "fan experience". The relative merit of the "product" is a product of the entire experience for a large percentage of fans. As long as a few teams have the ability to spend literally twice as much on players, small and mid market teams are going to be at a disadvantage and therefore get their asses handed to them at times.

You can't blame the three-outcome game for the team being 16 games under 500. There is also plenty of blame to go around for the state of the game. Players are going to work on the skills that make them money and teams are going to emphasize whatever wins games. Home runs equates to big money for players, and they are not going to develop a 2 strike approach as long as hitting home runs equates to big money. Look at Kepler for example. He can't bunt when he has 75 ft between the SS and 3B. People don't seem to mind the state of the game nearly as much when their team is winning.

Has Luis Arraez Earned a Starting Role?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The team needs a long-term solution at 3B and Arraez is not a great option. Let's hope Miranda gets promoted after a great 6 weeks stretch and becomes the player we all hope he can be. While we are hoping let's hope Lewis is the great comeback story of 2022. Those two reaching their potential and holding down the left side of the infield for the next several years would be really / really nice. -
Urshela Ushers in New Hope at Third Base
Major League Ready replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Is it reasonable to assume Donaldson was at least part of the problem? Sure, but there were many other subtractions and several additions. It seems most reasonable to conclude the net of those changes has resulted in a better atmosphere. However, I have seen instances professionally where the removal of one or two individuals had a big impact on culture.- 30 replies

I too will be more interested to see Winder. I don't think Bundy is all that important to the Twin's success. Paddack finding something close to his 2019 form would be far more important. Archer also has a lot more upside and he appears to be perfectly healthy. We also have an option for next year, so I am a lot more concerned about how Archer performs. Don't get me wrong, I hope Bundy wows us all, but there are a few other guys that could be much more instrumental to both short and long(er) term success.

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Obviously, he adds to the potential, but I was talking about moves that were about asset management and he does not fit into that category in the same way as the others. I guess we could call it asset management if they trade him at the deadline.- 89 replies

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trading an all-star closer with one year of control for a set-up guy with two years of control and a high upside SP with 3 years of control is definitely asset management. When you trade a 36 year old superstar with injury concerns and highly probably decline with 21.75M owed next year and a 16M option or 8m buyout the following year, that’s probably asset management. When you add the fact the team’s top offense prospect plays the same position it becomes asset management, especially when you get an interim 3B in Urshela. He is a great place holder for Miranda and he can play other positions when Miranda takes over. Of course, he is also insurance if Miranda fals on his face. They also bought low on him. It’s certainly possible he could return to 2019/2020 form and be traded for value if that happens. Sanchez filled a hole. For all of these reasons, the Donaldson deal was great asset management. Now, could it work out that SOME combination of Paddack / Pagan / Urshela and Sanchez make us a better team this year vs Rodgers / Donaldson / Garver and Rortvedt? Sure, they are all players that have performed at high levels in the past. They managed to position the team for the future while building in some upside for this year. However, these deals were more about the future than the present.- 89 replies

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I find it astounding when fans don't understand it is essential to success for an organization with half of the Dodgers revenue to practice asset management. It's fanatical thinking with no regard for the realities of the requirements for mid-market vs large market teams. The twins have to produce in the neighborhood of 2X WAR per every dollar spent. It's a financial / mathematical certainty.- 89 replies

One Breakout Prospect for Each Twins Affiliate
Major League Ready replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It would be huge for this franchise if Lewis fulfills his potential as a SS. Let's be realistic. Correa is going to opt out. It would be great if they got a huge return for him at the deadline and Lewis takes over post deadline. I want to add "break-out at the MLB level catagory. Duran and Paddack stepping up could really change the fate of this franchise. My dream scenario is that Duran and Paddock are so ood this year that next year our starting rotation is Duran / Paddack / Gray / Winder / Ryan with Balazovic / Canterino and SWR knocking on the door.- 13 replies

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
And if they seriously thought they had a legit shot at being a serious contender as opposed to a wildcard team hoping to get really hot against superior teams, they would have been delusional to think they were a serious contender. Therefore, they would have been incompetent to manage to that delusion. Fans can have this "we need to contend every year" mantra. Front offices need to manage the team's long-term interests. It's really easy to manage for the current year. Any team could just trade away the farm for the current year or two. You may have noticed teams don't operate this way. The Dodgers had numerous opportunities to elevate their teams but held on to their prospects. Maintaining success is far more difficult.- 89 replies

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You may not have noticed that my comments were directed at next year and beyond. They simply are not and never were going to be real contenders this year. Therefore, I am glad they did not pass up opportunities to improve the long-term outlook of the team for a long-shot of competing this year. I was offering a look at this off-season in the context of what they did to position the team for success beyond this year. I placed no value on Urshella and/or Sanchez. They can cut both. However, it would be great if Urshela gets back to anything close to his 2019 / 2020 seasons which would make this deal even better.- 89 replies

So... Why Trade Taylor Rogers?
Major League Ready replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I agree and I am hopeful. They could have a year like 2019 where everything comes together. That's always a possibility, the odds just are not great. If this was a rebuild Buxton and Polanco would have been traded. I view it as they are putting a team on the field that can make the playoffs but their emphasis remains building a pitching staff from within. I guess you could also say their asset management strategy emphasizes long-term value over current year just as the A's and Ray's practice.- 89 replies
