  1. For a team that is so stat driven the decision to ph Margot is just beyond absurdity. Sure he will eventually get a hit, but too little too late.
  2. Good for Randy - but with young arms like Festa and Zebby and Morris and Varland I do not see Randy in the Twins rotation unless we catch and run away from the Guardians and he is one of the two extras at the end of the season.
  3. I love this and the commentary really makes it. I would put Soto and Raya lower in the rankings. I am also less sure of Camargo. I do like Winkel moving on to the list. I think he is underrated. Fun to see where you think the new draftees will rank, but I am still the guy who has to see them perform in the minors for at least a half year.
  4. I will take Miranda if the 12 for 12 guy is back the lineup shifts to overdrive. The one big need is a left hander to replace Thielbar and Okert.
  5. Is Rocco obligated to use Margot as a PH? I just cannot stand this any more. Okert and Theilbar matched their season records tonight - left handed or not - stop using them in key situations. So glad we won, but there are still lessons to be learned.
  6. That is a question for TD - I suspect the answer is a resounding yes - they have asked over and over about budget.
  7. Fun suppositions. I just cannot figure out the FO plans. If they want to cut payroll again when the team has such good potential I have no faith that they can pull off anything significant.
  8. Castillo is first to go, but then it is more difficult. Julien seems obvious, but so does Camargo. If all three return than those are the three I demote. Festa's time depends on how he does today. Can he turn it around and show his potential? If not he goes down when one of the RP return. My biggest concern is Duran. We need him to be consistent. I would turn off or turn down the entrance display until he earns it again. I am still not impressed with Martin - I hope we see him putting things together soon. On BR he has a -0.6 war and 86 OPS+. Not enough to make him valuable. I also see Okert going down if one of the RP returns. I am not impressed with his performances -0.1 WAR, 4.40 era, 1.4 WHIP. Just because he is left handed I do not see his value. Hope he starts great tonight. Of course Caleb Thielbar is -0.7 with 5.79 era and a whip of 1.757 so if any lefty is dropped it looks like the feel good story is coming to an end.
  9. Winder keeps disappointing. With him at closer I see the Twins trying to push him forward and they must still see promise in him for the pen. His 6.30 era does not look like a guy we will be calling up anytime soon. And it looks like Festa is still in the lead for the next SP. I hope this next outing is more in line with what he has done in the minors. Even with a good outing I would still think Zebby and maybe Morris have passed Varland in the pecking order. I hope he continues what he did today and climbs back up. Otherwise RP is his best road to the majors.
  10. Good article - I add that Castro has exceeded expectations again and has been a key to success. I would also add Miranda who was close to not getting on the team this year and had his own injury and down period only to rise up to be an even more important bat than Larnach. By the tone of this article do we still look at Julien and Kiriloff to rise up and succeed again?
  11. It is an interesting topic, but without much more than intuition which is pretty low on the predictive scale so I will go ahead and predict who I see. I do agree on Wallner. I think Julien could be motivated in the same way. Lopez just worries me - the inconsistency is an issue. With Paddack out again I think I will look to one of the rookie pitchers - Festa? Zebby I wish, Morris maybe? but what we really need is a relief pitcher to rise up and give us what we have not had for a long time - so Brock Stewart needs to respond to the call. I would love to see Lee surge and I think he will, but it will be the return of Lewis that really motivates the team.
  12. Can't the bench coach - whoever he is - share Margot's pinch hitting stats? I am overwhelmed.
  13. This is a hard report to comment on. At least we didn't lose during the all-star break.
  14. I have no expectations - but I hope he does well again. He seems like a good person and player and isn't the first with a sophomore slump.
  15. I look at the players in ST Paul and still cannot understand having Castillo on the MLB roster. Of course I would not have Margot or Farmer either. Camargo sits on the bench - Winkel is delivering in St Paul. Could Winkel pass Camargo?
  16. I just did not see the need for the pinch hitters. We are down to a lower level of lineup, but what they started with was the best they could offer so forget pinch hitting. Let them work our the left/right deliveries.
  17. My formula is simpler - score more runs than they do. Lopez is not giving me great confidence so I need the bats to be working! Brewers are like the Guardians - figuring out how to manufacture runs, take advantage of opportunities.
  18. I have a question about Winder. At one point he was the hot topic in the minors and looking like he was going to be a good addition at MLB. But his performance in MLB has been miserable. A 4.69 ERA over 103 innings (13.5 this year) and 1.360 whip. He is almost 28 now, what can we reasonably expect from him? He is a precaution for those of us hoping to see the young pitchers prosper. I am also concerned with the rating of Marco Raya. Two seasons at AA he has a 5.64 era and 1.482 whip despite his limited innings pitched. I am ready to see him moved down the rankings.
  19. This is reasonable, but far from ideal. The plantar fasciitis will bother Correa at the plate and when he runs the bases. It is not a cure for the ailment and might not be a positive for the team. Fasciitis often requires different shoes and supports. The best idea is to get rid of the spikes and put something else on his feet.
  20. The lower minor leagues are hard for me to comment on. I can only use these reports for future reference, but I do appreciate them.
  21. You have Raya and Soto rated to high for my taste. Let them prove something before we give them such a status. I would also move Zebby way up the list. Festa lost a lot of luster and would still be top ten, but down lower. I like Winokur, Cossetti, and Olivar over the young pitchers as well.
  22. I love it and I hope he has now become next man up. Varland, Zebby, Festa should be a very successful rotation for St Paul. And I hope we see him in Mpls this year.
  23. Always fun to speculate, but I am not ready for the cool-aid yet.
