  1. If only we could have picked up a couple arms at the deadline, like a starter and one or two relief arms....oh how fun it would be to have a team that ownership wants to win with. I guess it's only a pipe dream here in MN for the next few years.
  2. If Kepler goes on the IL I will be upset if they don't finally call up Keirsey. Guys done everything he can in AAA, plus he can play all three OF spots very well. Steal some bases, lay down a bunt. He could be the spark plug that we need. Unfortunately they'll probably make the dumb choice and roll with Martin and Margot in the OF and just call up Julien again....Julien is obviously not ready for MLB action. At the plate or on defense. Farmer should not be on a contending roster either. Call up Lee and Keirsey immediately. Also, as soon as Winder is able, call him up and replace Richards. Dudes a disaster and will only hurt us. Send Varland to the pen as well to cover all these innings from 4-5 inning starts lately. That'd be a start at least. Sure would help to get our "stars" back in Correa and Buxton, but I'm not counting on them until either the big series against KC or CLE or maybe not at all in the regular season.
  3. With Twins playing so poorly and time running out to secure the division, it sure would be nice to have our best players actually PLAY. The more IL time that gets racked up between Buxton and Correa makes me think they are content with letting the team try and make the playoffs. If they don't, seasons over and they can both go home. If we make the playoffs, they'll all of a sudden be ready to play and contribute in front of a national crowd. Not a good look from our supposed "stars". On the other hand, Blewitt looked real good. Solid replacement for Okert. Now Winder or Varland should replace Richards and we might have a respectable bullpen.
  4. Definitely NOT a Rocco fan. I thought this was one of those satire articles. The dude seemingly relies on analytics and percentages and probabilities, which is fine, but you also have to balance them out with baseball instincts, feel, momentum, players eye test etc. Rocco does none of that. I hate his lineups a lot of the time. Having Margot lead off? Hate his pinch hitting decisions. Pulling Wallner to bat Farmer? Also do not like him managing our bullpen. He puts Alcala and Jax out there in a game we are up by six, even though they're overworked lately. Then he has the disaster of Richards or Theilbar pitching in close games. Makes me wonder sometimes. Does Rocco really WANT to win???
  5. Sounds to me like they don't see Correa getting back on the field anytime soon. With Lee healthy again, they can play Lewis at 2nd, Lee at SS and Miranda at 3rd. Probably the best way to get all their bats in the lineup. I still think for 2025 they'll have Lewis at 1st to try and keep him healthy, and not worry about his poor throws. That is only if we don't sign a legit power hitter to play first, which would be a real long shot. If anything maybe they'll offer Santana another year...
  6. Twins do need to improve their base stealing. Not only that but bunting and going first to third. Being aggressive on the base paths without running into a ton of outs. Austin Martin is the second fastest on the team, I'd like to see them give him the green light almost Everytime. Especially with him getting on base a ton lately, and especially since the whole team has a propensity to hit into double plays. I think some young guys coming up could help with our speed problems. Keirsey Jr, Emmanuel Rodriguez and Eeles all steal bases in the minors. Putting pressure on some of the opposing pitchers can only do good right?
  7. He's like Bigfoot. Reported sightings all over, but they're all second hand reports with no witnesses and no real proof. I wouldn't count on him, Ryan or Paddack pitching again this year.
  8. All of the early season talk about "Julien's improved defense" has been completely de bunked over the past two weeks. He's a liability out there. Thankfully it looks like Lee is healthy so he should be playing second while Julien gets sent down. I realize Correa is going to be out a while longer, but Farmer has no business being on this roster. Eales or Castillo would be a better bench player I've got to believe. And if Kepler is going on the IL now, it's the perfect time to give Keirsey Jr a shot. He could be a real spark plug for this lineup. He can play all three OF positions. Would much rather see him out there than the liability defense of Margot. Our bullpen is gassed. Call up Winder and stick Varland and maybe Morris out there. With Festa and Zebby only throwing 4-5 innings, we're going to need guys that can piggyback them and throw 2-3 innings. Varland and Morris could do that. Also think they should grab Tonkin off waivers and release Richards. Sure it'll look bad and show everyone how bad our deadline was, but the dude provides negative value. In a playoff chase, we can't have it. Him and Farmer, time to cut off some dead wood like they did with Okert.
  9. It looks like Lee is healthy so today he should be called up to play 2nd and Julien sent down. That should help the lineup and definitely our defense. We really need Correa and Buxton back. Your heel hurts? Well you've had over a month to get off it man. Are him and Buck just hoping the rest of the team can make the playoffs for them? Then all of a sudden, they're both healthy and ready for game one of wildcard round? I think that unless we get one, or both of them back soon we may not make the playoffs at all. Our bullpen is probably my biggest worry. Both Zebby and Festa only throw 5 innings, meaning there will be a lot more innings to cover. Maybe Winder can help, but it's also time to move Varland to the pen where he can go multiple innings. Grab Tonkin off waivers and release Richards. He provides no value whatsoever and will only hurt us.
  10. If Lee is healthy and ready, get him to the majors and send Julien back down NOW. I realize he's been hitting better as of late, but his defense at second base is going to cost our pitchers runs and cost us games like he did Sunday night. Lee will out hit him too. As far as Kepler goes, if he's going to be out awhile, IL him and finally give Keirsey his chance. We need a good outfielder who can play all three positions. He could be a real spark plug for our lineup, at least until Buxton comes back maybe next weekend.
  11. Martin has been very fun to watch this year. Since Buxton's injury, Martins numbers have all steadily improved with more playing time. He's also getting better as an OF defender too. I think with more innings and experience he could be a decent 4rth OF and backup 2nd base. Kind of a poor man's Willi Castro. I'd rather see Martin out there than either of Margot or Julien .
  12. I also think Festa has the stuff to be a high leverage bullpen guy, but Twins definitely want to keep him as a starter. Plus, there are no real good replacements on the roster right now anyways. If his problems pitching to the lineup a second and third time continue next year though, a move to the pen might be the best way to get the most value out of him. I think the coaches will give him every opportunity to stay a starter though, as they should. I've said this a hundred times, what's up with Canterino and Headrick? That's two bullpen reinforcements right there but we've heard absolutely nothing on these guys all year? Makes you wonder if they're done for good...
  13. Our bullpen definitely needs some reinforcement and soon. I think Winder would be the easiest call up. After that I'd say Varland. I know the Twins want to keep him stretched out as a starter for depth and I jury insurance, but should that happen I'd rather see Dobnak or Morris as the next man up. Varland did great in the pen last year, let's see if he can do it again. As for outside additions, I thought Hector Norris would've been a good pickup before the Astros got him. I'd say take a shot on Tonkin. He can't be any worse than Richards who should be immediately released. Keeping him on our major league roster and using up a valuable BP spot is just embarrassing the way he's pitched.
  14. The Twins just suck at hitting with RISP. Especially hitting with bases loaded. Whenever we get 2 guys on, or even bases loaded with one out or less, I just cringe and wait for the strikeouts and double plays. It really is comical at this point.
  15. Canterino, Headrick and Emmanuel Rodriguez are a complete question mark . We've had no updates almost all year on these guys:(
  16. Hopefully we protect him and give him a shot next year. Kepler, Margot and maybe Kiriloff won't be here next year... If he's not a part of the teams plans I'm sure they could have gotten something for him at the deadline with the numbers he's putting up
  17. I haven't heard much about Adams, but looking at this years stats he has been really good in AA. Another promising young pitcher that could prove valuable down the road. I've been begging for Keirsey to get his chance all year. If the Twins for whatever reason are never going to give him a chance, then this years deadline would have been the perfect time to trade him while his values the highest. Of course that didn't happen either. We need to add him to the 40 man anyway this year or I'm guessing he'll get picked by a bad team with starts available. I think he could be valuable to us as a speedy, base stealing threat 4rth outfielder type. He plays all three oF positions, can be a menace on the base paths, plus he can hold his own with a bat. .300 AVG and 15 HR in AAA is nothing to sneeze at. You can't tell me Margot is a better option out there in CF lol....
  18. I wonder how much Lee's shoulder injury contributed to his minor slump before he went on the IL. He was very exciting to watch when he first got called up, really showing that hit tool. Some power mixed in occasionally too. He looked real good on defense. If we can get him healthy and productive again, he should definitely factor into our second base mix along with Julien. It'd be a big boost to our lineup if both these guys got hot and were competing for more starts at 2nd. Possibly auditioning for the starting gig next year.
  19. The Twins minor league pipeline is in as good a place as I have ever seen it. Sure seems like they are doing a much better job of both drafting, and development. Now if we could only figure out how to keep our guys healthy and not have so many serious injuries to our star players, we'd be golden. The one downside to having all this young talent is that management will be hesitant to go out and sign free agents. They'll try and tell us there is no need for outside reinforcements because of all the options in the minors. Problem is, young prospects don't work out all the time. They get hurt, they slump. There needs to be good solid vets mixed in to teach these new guys how to be good ball players. Unfortunately they'll keep cutting payroll and relying on our young guys and hoping for the best...
  20. SWR has saved this years rotation from being a total disaster. He seemingly has been getting more and more confident with each outing throwing with authority. He hit 96, maybe 97 on the gun last night. Pitching the way he is now, I've got no problem with him being our number 3 starter. Plus, he's only 23 so hopefully there is still plenty of room to grow and improve some more. While I would have liked some off-season and trade deadline additions, and while I really wish we still had Ryan, it's hard not to be optimistic about the Twins pitching pipeline:) Infused with a couple solid vets in the off-season, we could have one of the better pitching staffs
  21. SWR is looking more and more confident out there with each outing. Dude hit 96 MPH multiple times. He really has saved this rotation this year. Hopefully Buck is back this weekend and Correa soon after. We need our best bats out there everyday, because a playoff spot is not something we can just coast to this year. We need to sweep or take 2 of 3 against these losing teams like STL. Let's make up some ground on CLE this home stand, and create some distance between us and KC.
  22. Seems kind of alarming to me how poorly all of our young pitchers can control the zone. I know it's common for minor leaguers to have poor command, but it seems everyday I read about our top pitching prospects walking 3, 4, 5 batters an outing. On the other hand, it sure looks like the new Culpeper kid can really hit. Should be fun watching him and Jenkins move up together. Eeles sure looks like a solid player too. I see he plays SS, but I haven't watched him play so not sure how good he is there. Looks like he can really hit and be a menace on the bases. Over .300 AVG with 30 SB. Twins are always in need of speed and SB potential. Does he get added to the 40 man anytime soon? Would hate to see another team snag him in the off-season in the rule 5 draft. Although I will say I'm not exactly sure how that all works..
  23. Everyone knew the Twins needed pitching if we were to be a legit playoff contender. Apparently the brass doesn't think we're there yet. Did anyone actually believe the BS they said? "Oh, money wasn't an issue, we could have gotten anyone we wanted, just nothing came together." Really? We were the ONLY team that couldn't find a way too improve lol? Richards was just a last minute PR move so twins fans wouldn't riot and boycott the rest of the season.... Move Varland and Winder back to the pen. Demote or DFA Okert and probably Richards. That'd be a start. Hector Norris can be had for the major league minimum. That could be a low risk move too. At this point why not?
  24. Varland and Winder should be in the pen, with a small hope and a prayer Paddack and Topa can help at some point too. Okert and Richards should never pitch unless it's a mop up role and the game is already over. Pathetic trade deadline when everyone including the casual fan knew we desperately needed some pitching help.
  25. Varland can provide the best value as a high octane reliever who can go multiple innings. That would be very valuable to our bullpen right now. We have Bouschly and Morris as starter insurance. Let him let it fly in the pen.
