  1. I think both Lewis and Miranda should be interchangeable at 1st/3rd base. Lee should be 2nd/SS. Julien can be 2nd or 1st. Keaschal, Eeles and Castro can cover everywhere else in the IF. OF can be covered with Larnach, Buxton, Wallner, Castro, and Kiersey/Martin/Rodriguez. I do think it would greatly help our defense if the players positions were a little more consistent and they didn't have to wonder where they were going to be playing each and every day.
  2. I do think our pen is in a good spot, but that doesn't mean we couldn't upgrade. A solid LHRP would be nice. We also have a lot of candidates that could earn a spot in ST or throughout the year. Varland, Canterino, Prelipp, Headrick, Henriquez or any of our up and coming starting pitchers. Maybe guys like Adams, Raya, Culpeper or someone else gets their cup of coffee in the pen. You can never have too much pitching. I do think at least one addition would be helpful.
  3. He could be an intriguing option at first base. Would be nice if he was a decent catcher so that he could replace Vasquez, but it sounds like the Twins don't view him as a catcher. ST will be interesting.
  4. Mildly exciting move could be to use the cash and sign a lefty for our pen. I'd be fine with Columbe or Andrew Chafin. Both would be a good reliever that would be able to out pitch both lefties currently on our roster. More exciting move would be to salary dump Paddack or Vasquez then use the cash to sign the polar bear. Give him a 3 year offer with some options outs. Then maybe use some combo of Julien/Miranda as trade bait for more pitching. Won't happen, but it's fun to speculate. I actually think someone nicknamed the polar bear would be a great fit in MN. Plus, he's the big RH power bat that we need. A lineup with Correa, Buxton, Lewis, Alonso and Wallner?! That's intimidating actually!
  5. I think both Prelipp and Canterino should be given an opportunity to earn a bullpen spot in Spring training. Both these guys have insane stuff, just need to stay healthy. Sound familiar?
  6. Hopefully he can stay healthy and put together a full breakout season, maybe getting a call up to AAA which would leave him battling for a spot on the big league roster in 2026 :) As long as the Twins don't screw up his swing like they did with Austin Martin trying to change him into a strikeout prone home runs hitter.
  7. He's obviously not a fit for our OF since we already have similar players in the corners with Larnach and Wallner. Getting a power bat to split time and platoon first base with Miranda though could be a nice fit. Pretty sure with ample at bats this guy would outhit Mickey Gasper or the other minor league nobody we picked up as depth. Trades like this could really upgrade the team. Although the fact he's lefty and the fact that he would improve the first base situation tells me there's no way it'll happen. Maybe if they'll give him to us for Paddack or Vasquez;)
  8. I hope all these young guys have great breakout years, because we're going to need them. With literally no help coming from free agency or trades this off-season, it's going to be up to our young guys and prospects to carry this team once Correa Buxton and Lewis are all on the IL by mid May or early June lol.
  9. Barring a bunch of injuries, I think we have enough solid SP options that will be waiting for a call up in AAA. If Paddack is still our #5 then we'll have Festa, Mathews, Adams and Raya all ready to go. Not to mention Lewis, Culpeper and few others on their way too. I get that we have a full pen but with a lot of injury risk. Sands could be one of our best relievers, you don't mess with that. We all saw what CLE was able to do last year with an elite bullpen. And we have a better starting staff than they did. If we could pick up a solid lefty and maybe another higher leverage arm, I'd believe all this "best BP in baseball" talk. On another note, the Giants traded Taylor Rodgers to the Reds for just their 36th ranked prospect. They also got six million, meaning they got a closer type lefty for a lottery ticket and six million. This is the kind of deal we should have pounced on as it would have solidified our pen. Of course, we do nothing, as is seemingly our strategy. No nothing and hope all our players do better than last year. Sad really...
  10. I'm more intrigued by how Eeles, Keaschal, Keirsey, and all of our young pitchers due in '25. I'm guessing that we will see lots of kids getting their debuts and will have chances to play for the major league club. With the team being so injury prone and not being able to sign a single new player this off-season, we're going to be seeing and relying on a lot of new in house faces.
  11. Seems a bit early to be citing him as a possible "highest ceiling in our system". Dudes thrown 16 innings above rookie League and didn't exactly light everyone up lol.
  12. In CF, no. I'd be fine with Castro first, then Martin as backup OF 's in the corner. For CF, I really only think Buck and Keirsey. At least until Rodriguez is ready. I think this is the year to finally give Keirsey a shot at real playing time. I don't care he hits left handed. He's a great defender and hit really well all year in AAA, he's got nothing left to prove in the minors.
  13. So all Twins hitters need to do is have better at bats. Huh, wish they would have thought of that last year lol
  14. Cory Provus says up to 15 games will be broadcasted over the air this year? What does that mean?
  15. Anyone else even remember an off-season without adding one single new major league player? Man, new owners cannot come soon enough. Aside from a complete teardown and rebuild, nothing could be worse than this. We can dream on a Cease trade, but we're not getting him. I'm guessing a third place finish in AL Central. A ton of prospect debuts and seeing what we have in terms of young talent before new owners change up the team next off-season.
  16. I don't think we're getting Cease but it's fun to dream. He is only a rental and we aren't signing him long term so we have to look at him as a one year and done, plus a QO draft pick. SD has some interest in Vasquez. I don't think Vasquez and a near ready MLB pitcher like Mathews, Raya or Adams gets it done. What if we pay down half of Vasquez's salary? Vasquez and 5 million dollars Mathews/Raya/Adams C. Lewis Does that get it done? Maybe throw in a AA or A good looking prospect.
  17. I completely understand the value of defensive versatility and wanting our guys to be able to cover multiple positions. It allows Rocco to platoon, play match ups and cover for injured starters. The downside being, these young kids are being forced to learn three different positions. While they may end up ok at two or three of them, they never really get the development time to become any better than average at any one position. When you have an infield of utility guys it's nice from a management standpoint, but more than likely your defense is going to suffer. Gold glovers stick to one position and play it well. I think the best middle ground is having one or two multiple position guys in the IF and one or two in the OF. Everyone else has their own designated position that they can focus on. I'm sure the players would love it and would probably improve their offensive numbers as well.
  18. Give them Vasquez and someone like Raya, Lewis, Adams for a year of Dylan Cease. Then trade Paddack and another prospect or two for a first baseman like MountCastle or Diaz. I'd be overjoyed with our off-season if even one of these comes to fruition.
  19. They should get him comfortable at first and second base as those are the weakest of the Twins positions. Hoping he is healthy this year and forces the twins hand by raking at AAA:)
  20. Maybe Vasquez, Paddack and someone like Raya or Cory Lewis for Cease? Is Cease under control for just this year? I'm drooling over a MN rotation of Lopez, Cease, Ryan, Ober and SWR/Festa/Mathews! I'll believe it when I see it though. Highly unlikely would be my guess.
  21. I saw on mlbtrade rumors that the Twins and Padres are trying to line up on a trade for either or both of Paddack and Vasquez. Surprisingly it also said that we were interested in Dylan Cease. I don't really believe it, but if we could somehow snag him, imagine our SP rotation of Lopez, Cease, Ryan, Ober and SWR/Festa/Mathews. That would make up for this agonizing off-season. To get Cease we'd probably have to give up one of our top 5 prospects I'd guess. Vasquez, Paddack and Raya? I'm sure that's not enough. I'm not sure if Cease has any control remaining or not as that will make a difference.
  22. I say keep him. You can never have too many starters, especially with Ryan coming off injury and SWR not proven yet. We saw what happened last year when we tried to rely on Festa and Mathews. If one of our AAA SP are needing a call up, Paddack could be great in the pen. If we do trade him, it should only be for major league players. We have more than enough depth/prospect/ AAAA players...
  23. I say if we can find a team to take Vasquez and his salary you have to do it, but only if we use the money saved to re invest it into improving this years team like a solid LHRP or RH OF.
  24. I think what's most likely is we'll be out of contention by the trade deadline. Buxton, Lewis and Correa will miraculously get hurt and sit out the second half and the team will trade off veterans on expiring contracts. If new ownership is going to raise payroll and make a splash, I think it would happen next off-season. New owners, new payroll and clean slate. Can't come soon enough!
  25. I think Varland needs to be designated a full-time reliever this year. He's had plenty of chances at being a starter. Put him in the pen at AAA to see if he earns a call up. Canterino and Prelipp could be dark horse weapons for our pen if they can finally get healthy. Topa is a wildcard, but ultimately I like our pen, despite the lack of a proven lefty.
